Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Dec 2015 12:50

You won't if we keep getting this high wind with it blowing leaves about they will soon get dirty again.

I HAVE BEEN TO THE LIBRARY!! I did'nt forget and oh woke me this morning with a song which he said should have been a bugle call and I could snooze till the next one. I got up!!When I arrived in the kitchen which was in a mess last night with the old pc screen on the worktop and loads of leaves all over the floor because of the wind they blow in our porch and then get walked in. He had hoovered and washed up so I came into a nice tidy clean kitchen. A lovely surprise and I did'nt even hear the hoover.

Afternoon all

Nice and sunny here today, but quite cold with it.

You made me laugh Ann talking about your notebook when negotiating a deal on your car. I bet the poor man didn't know what to do. Pleased you got what you wanted in the end ;-)

Hope Matteo's first Nativity goes well Fiona, are you allowed to take photo's now, or have they stopped that? I know you were only allowed to take photo's of your own child/grandchild, but maybe they have stopped that too now. It'd be a shame if they have.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Frank. I had another bad night too. I don't know what's wrong with me lately I can't seem to sleep very well and then during the day I feel so tired I don't want to do anything.....very strange and not like me at all.

I still haven't written out the Christmas cards yet, I really do need to get on with them or I'll miss the last post to Australia if I'm not careful and of course all of you ;-) and we can't have that can we lol.
I did ask before, but I was wondering if anyone knows Pat's new address as I don't have it to send her a card, plus I'm not sure of her surname. Could someone PM me if they know please <3

Well, I've done nothing so far today, so I'd better get on with a few things
See you all later.

Fiona

Fiona Report 3 Dec 2015 13:41

It was lovely, Matteo was great, better than we thought he would be joined in with the children on stage, and was only a little upset when Victoria went to collect him, a bit taken back with all the people coming and going, and then finely mum appear's.

Gill you can take photo's BUT you are not allowed to put them on Public websites , which is understandable not every parent wants there children displayed everywhere.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Dec 2015 13:47

That's nice to hear Fiona, I bet you got loads of photo's then, which will be lovely to keep? Yes I can understand them not being allowed on public websites. It sounds like he had a great time on stage and was pleased to see Victoria. He'll be full of stories now......bless him.

Afternoon all,

Started off nice and sunny here but it's now dull as dish water !! we need the lights on.

Thanks Frank for your Christmas card it came this morning .
I had to laugh at the Sid story :-D

I bet the car salesman looked when you pull your note book out Ann ,they probably think oh here we go then realize you know what your talking about !!
You know just how to get the best price don't you :-D
I'd love to see the snow flake necklace when you've done it .
Yes i saw the cushion in WW this week ,i have been making fabric christmas wreaths ,they are made with little hearts all joined together and hung with a ribbon also a wreath made with all the little off cuts of fabric which you glue into a polystyrene ring and a little Christmas tree made the same way ,i'll take a photo and send it to you .

It's lovely to see the little ones Fiona you can see their heads going from side to side looking for there mums and then they give that little wave :-D
We go next week to see Lacey and Katie in their nativity plays ,they have theirs in the church as it's a church school .
They also say no group photo's !! you can only take one of your own child .

Jane the T bag offer was at Makro ,we went this morning and stocked up £180 !!! i nearly had a dicky fit :-D but we did get all sorts not just T Bags :-D

Afternoon all,

What a pig of a day. As Jane says, I have had the lights on all day. Ros came in at 1.00 pm and has been cleaning windows, laying the window sill with all Christmas things, she's hovered behind the chair in front of the window. Now she is doing the Mantle piece. Packing all the ornaments away before decorating that also. So much work for just a few days. We still have the outside to do.

Gill I have pmd you with the address. I bet you will have us all doing it !!!

Not a lot going on here, so I will settle down to NAT GEO.

magpie Report 3 Dec 2015 15:21

Oh dear Mel, that must be so sad for you. As you know we've had lots of ups and downs with our two over the years, but it's never got to that point. We would be gutted not to see our youngsters. Is there no way you could get in touch just to see if there is any chance of reconciliation. Life's so short and it does seem such a pity.
Well the new burner is in situ! It's taken OH all morning to put it in, but it was worth it, as the oven is heating up nicely!!
We had a delivery this morning from Amazon, but for some reason the item wasn't on the van!!!!! OH thinks the chap couldn't be bothered to search through the other parcels to look for it, and it may turn up later!! I have emailed Amazon, so we shall see. If it isn't here by tomorrow, OH will be phoning them in no uncertain terms. It's the first time there have been any problems with shopping on line, so we're a bit surprised.
Must get do some hoovering!! Get Merlin in, and take Cas!

Finished the advent ring for the church. It got so dark in the shed I had to give up on anything else. It has to be in the church for this Sunday so that is now out of the way and I only have to get it down there and fix it to its stand and pop the candles in.

The song was Its a most wonderful day and the sun was shining when he came in. It soon disappeared though and we have an extremly high wind coming from the south westerly.

I find it most surprising how some of you can hover around. I see Liz hoovers and dos'nt hover............he he he :-D :-D :-D

I liked the joke about Sid Frank. :-D

magpie

magpie Report 3 Dec 2015 17:14

I received a parcel in the post this afternoon containing a pair of black mule trainers I bought my wife online.
With them was another parcel containing a one pint SPORTS DIRECT mug :)
It pays to advertise

Mike Ashley can't go wrong ;-)

David

I got my other SPORTS DIRECT mug the same way a few years ago :-D

Evening All,

How nice to be woken by your OH singing that lovely song Mel! Then to find your mess in the kitchen had all been cleaned up too. :-) That will keep him in your good books!! Yes, when you have grandchildren it must be sad never to have even seen them. I wonder if they ever ask about you or have wanted to find you. I think I would want to in their shoes. I bet doing the advent ring has got you in the flow for doing the wreaths now and I expect it looks lovely with the candles lit.

I could certainly do with hovering over the hoover here! The floor looks very dusty! Mandy I would love to see the wreaths and christmas tree when you have finished them. :-) You have some lovely decorations you have made the last few years. I will send a photo of the snowflake necklace when I've made it. I think it is designed as a pendant, but I think the teacher may have done one with 3 snowflakes attached!

Yes it's good Matteo enjoyed his Nativity play and wasn't too overwhelmed. There are almost bound to be a few tears at that age at some point.

You must be thrilled to get your new woodburner in place ready for Christmas Liz. Have you tried the cooking bit yet? I bet Cassie was interested in it being fitted as well. Good luck at the Dentist and Hygeinist tomorrow......I hope the wind and rain aren't lashing down like they are here when you go!

I hardly slept last night as well Gill. I told OH this morning it is because of this new car I'm getting. He did laugh when I said I hadn't been this excited since I thought Father Christmas was real. :-D I've arranged to fetch it on Monday morning now and have spent today getting things ready like the insurance and the money transferred and forewarning my bank so they don't refuse the payment on Monday!! I've put all the old car stuff together ready as well so all I have to do now is clear everything out of it. Even now a bit of me still wants to keep it as it has been and still is a good reliable car that's never let me down in 8 years. Still, we have to move on at some point don't we. I don't want to be like FIL who ended up with sticking plaster holding his gear knob in place!! The other car was a pearlised white Mel, which you pay a lot more for normally yet was the same price as the plain white one I decided to have in the end.

The builder has made a start on the plot of land and already people who have been delivering stuff have used the driveway to the bungalow opposite us to drive into so they can reverse back to the end of the close! I can see there being trouble soon! There's been up to 3 vehicles parked at the end of the close making it very hard for our neighbours to get their cars out as well and the road is turning into a muddy oil slick. :-S

Thanks for your card that arrived this morning Frank. :-) Hope you've been enjoying a rest and some NAT GEO.

OH is really cross. We've started getting junk mail for MIL that's got our address on and hasn't been redirected. OH says it looks like her details have been sold on, but with our address. Gawd, we'll need a dustbin under the letterbox to catch all the mail we get now if that's been happening!

That's an interesting soup Jane, but the coriander would put me off. My dad always shovelled lots of salt on his food. I think it was from his years in the army in India when they told them they had to replace what they sweated out!.

Anne Report 3 Dec 2015 21:18

Good evening everyone

Re the hoovering versus hovering , when I type in hoovering my system alters it to hovering it's just done that now twice, why I don't know, perhaps that's been the problem with the other postings. When I alter it back it underlines it in red.

I had a nice pre Christmas lunch out today with 3 of my friends and exchanged cards and caught up with all of our family news.

Thank you for your card Frank, I can post mine now Sainsburys have been with the stamps.

It's raining hard here again and forecasted for tomorrow as well, I have just bought a lot of Tete a Tete bulbs and I need to put them in and plant some to take to the crematorium in the spring.

I hope everyone's aches and pains are getting better now.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Dec 2015 21:27

Thanks Frank and Mandy for Pat's address, silly me I had the right one in the end. I'd PM'd Pat and she said she'd asked Jane to pass her new address on so that's probably where I got it from, then forgotten it had been sent to me.
I don't know, I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on :-D :-D :-D

Your Christmas cards arrived today Frank, thank you they are lovely. Sandra is made up with hers and loves the way you sign it uncle Frank, she even remembered you signed it that way last year too <3

The Christmas float with father Christmas came down our street before. Sandra has been waiting for days to see it. Her face lit up watching it go past the bungalow. I did feel for Santa though as it's pouring with rain here now and still quite cold, but he was very good and waved to all the children who were looking out of their windows at him.

I've posted everyone's cards this evening, so you should get them soon.

So your woodburners in now Liz, I bet it's lovely and cosy warm now. Have you tried the oven yet?

Is there a way you can contact the junk mail people Ann to put a stop to it arriving at your place. How cheeky that they are now sending all MIL's junk mail to your address. Hope you can sort it out soon. It's not looking good in the close by the sounds of it, hope that doesn't get out of hand either.
I would like to see a pic of your snow necklace when it's finished if you don't mind ;-) So you're as excited about your new car like a child on Christmas eve, no wonder you're not sleeping very well. Have you got a special trip planned anywhere for your first journey in your new car?

I'd like to see the wreaths and Christmas tree you are making too Mandy when they are finished. ;-) ;-)

Well, I'd better go now, Sandra wants to watch Eastenders, I recorded it earlier when the Christmas float was passing by.

Annx Report 3 Dec 2015 21:36

I bet that was nice to catch up with your friends Anne.......did you have a Christmas lunch or what you fancied? OH managed to have 2 Christmas Puddings last week! I've told him his Christmas will be over by the 25th at this rate. He always wants mince pies as soon as they are in the shops.

I love tete a tete daffodils and have mostly those planted in our garden. They don't collapse with the wind and rain like the bigger ones.

I forgot to say that we went for brekkie at the really good value new pub down the road this morning. There was a man at the carpark entrance who stopped us to say they had a maintenance problem so were closed. Then he gave us a £5 off voucher to use next time we go so that was good. Instead we went to the good little cafe a couple of roads away. They all do good trade there as it is all big new office blocks.

David you'll soon have a set of mugs at this rate. :-)

I'll send you a pic of the necklace too Gill.

Well, I shall turn in now. It's still pouring with rain.
