Thanks for your card Gill that came today ,you got some nice things ,the book sounds just the right present for you as you wanted to know how to make and alter things , shame the weather was so bad so you couldn't get into M&S .

I wonder if Frank has got his cooker all wired up and the printer sorted too, i hope he's kept his cool today .

You were lucky you could hang washing out Mel , don't think mine would have been on the line for long with this wind !!
Sounds as if you have made a good start with all the wiring for the wreaths ,it must make your fingers very sore doing all the fiddly twisting .

Anne i bet the cats do love the wind blowing all the leaves for them to chase, i had to smile at the name of the neighbours dog ,i can see it must have made it a bit awkward after the flashing incident :-0

I see Cumbria has it really bad with the rain and all the flooding ,poor people won't be having a very good christmas .

Ann the christmas trees looked lovely ,but they did come out side ways :-D i liked the Enid Blyton one with Noddy and Big Ears :-D

I don't think i've had your address either David .

That's good then Ann to get a full tank in the new car.I did try to get a full one with my car but the answer was "No ,we don't do that any longer" :-S.
I wonder what the man was looking for Ann if he was just in shirt sleeves??? Might it have been a pet I wonder that got frightened i n the wind.
I have got Thomas in now .The wind seems to be even stronger now :-S
The poor folk in Cumbria !!! It must be dreadful there :-(

Mel, I did receive your card and thanked you for it on the 28th November, yours was the first one I received, I posted all mine yesterday but Jane seems to be the only card to arrive but they were all 2nd class, so that must have been treated as 1st class.

It's still very windy here but nothing like the weather in Cumbria it must be awful to endure that,

Speak tomorrow :-)

Gillx Report 5 Dec 2015 21:35

Isn't it strange how the post works, I posted everyone's Christmas cards all at the same time with 2nd class stamps and some of you haven't received yours, yet other's have. Maybe some have been mistaken for 1st class stamps and got to their destination quicker :-S

No, I won't be wrapping up my own Christmas presents off OH Jane, he doesn't do much for Christmas so I'm sure he'll cope with that job on his own lol. I was very surprised that he found a coat for me, I was expecting to have to find it myself then give it to him to pay for it. I suppose he does listen to me sometimes lol. He got it just right, three quarter length adjustable elastic waist and a hood. I didn't even mind the fur, the only reason I took it off was because the hood was to big and the fur flopped over my eyes. It's all done now and fits perfectly and is ready for him to wrap up for me.

He doesn't know it yet, but I've put the fur inside the bed on his side. He is such a wind up merchant that I thought I'd get my own back for all the times he's played jokes on me.
Can't wait for later :-D :-D :-D I'm going to have such a laugh.

I bet you can't wait for your new car Ann. It sounds like you're so excited. Yes remember to keep some petrol in the tank for the journey to pick up your new car, you don't want to run out on route.

How is your new oven Frank, is it all in place now? Hope you've managed to sort out your printer too.

How lovely to watch your cats chasing the leaves blowing in the wind Anne :-) When you mentioned it, it reminded me of the advert on TV where the tiger chases the butterfly, in the hoover ad. I love cats, especially tigers.

It sounds like you've been busy today Mel, with all your wiring, be careful you don't over do it and hurt yourself with all that holly ;-) ;-)

Sandra and I have been watching a couple of Christmas films this afternoon as well Mandy. Unfortunately the one that we lost the signal on, I tried to record again, only to lose the signal yet again, so now I'm going to have to find it again.....hopefully it'll be third time lucky

Sandra's just told me the water slide is on Celeb tonight which has just started so I'm going to watch it. It's the only part of the programme I like.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Dec 2015 22:31

That water slide is the best thing on I'm a Celeb. I have only watched bits of it when oh had it on.As I don't watch the soaps I only knew Chris Ewbank.

Anne I thoughtI had sent you a card but wanted to make sure as I put my list away.

Morning All

My Sister has just arrived and BIL gone to see his daughter and Grandson from his first marriage. She lives somewhere between Cambridge and Ely.
So Janice and I are off to the shops shortly :-D
The wind has dropped but it is still so dark.

What is everyone up too then today?

David Report 6 Dec 2015 10:15

Good Morning all. another cold morning, not so windy.

Sad but true story. ER a former neighbour of my wife's and my MIL was an independent lady. She lived in the same house with her youngest of 3 sons. She was a widow for many years. When we moved here we would sometimes see her walking
to the Metro or the nearby shops and we'd invite her in. In this way she was in this house on several occasions. A couple of times I gave her a lift to the city centre.
These passing visits ceased and I said to my wife you never see Ethel now. We got a phone call from her son saying she was in a care home. Ellen had intended visiting her but never got the chance. She got another telephone call from Ethel's son. His Mother had died. Apparently she had a stroke a year ago and lost the use of her legs. She had been in that care home for a year.
A few weeks ago her eldest son died of cancer, a week ago his Mother died. She was 85. :-(

Heavens Mel, I don't think I've ever slept in that late!!! Hope the Xmas card arrived! The new wood burner is brilliant! The oven heats up really quickly and our roast chicken is cooking away as we speak!! It has vents on the door of the fire and oven for temperature control, as well as the air vent in the bottom of the door, so all in all it looks like a success. Not quite sure where OH's cold winter has got to, but there's time yet!!!! OH rotavated part of the veg patch this morning!! and I've done some weeding!!

Afternoon All

Liz thanks for the pic .It looks good.Bet your chicken tastes delish :-D.
Crikey Mel that was some lie in today !!!!!.Were you up late last night?

Poor Larry has been held up on the A14 as there has been a vehicle on fire.He has managed to turn around as a bit of central reservation has been removed but he seems to be a bit lost at the moment :-S Not so easy as he doesn't know this area. Then when he does arrive I think he will need a little shut eye before him and Janice set off for Tewkesbury ..It will have been a very long day for Larry.

I did suggest they stay the night but they have the dogs to get back for.

Not another long post lost Frank :-S :-S I hope you get back to tell us all what you were going to :-D

I better go again now and put the kettle on ready for when Larry does get here.I bet he will be parched.

Yes Mel, It went in the post last Thursday!! Maybe you'll get it tomorrow!! Anne, I've sent you an e.card, hope it's arrived!!
Those poor people hit by the floods! It must be just dreadful, so near Christmas too.
Nothing on TV AGAIN tonight!!! So Nat Geographic and a recording for us tonight!
No wonder you couldn't wake up Mel, going to bed that late!!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 6 Dec 2015 18:14

Mel that was really late.I can never stay up that long .I might wake up then though lol

Well Janice and Larry have just gone.Larry had got lost in a little place called Raunds and he said there were no sign posts. He then took the wrong road and ended up at Wellinborough before finding his way back here.He was pretty cheesed off.Touch wood they will have a straightforward drive home now.
James got home just half an hour before the A 14 was shut so he was lucky to miss the hold up.

Normandy Pork warming up nicely here now.I keep having a little dip into the sauce :-D

magpie Report 6 Dec 2015 18:47

Jane, they could do with TomTom!!!!! I'm being given a lesson on how to set it up this week!! You may see the smoke from your Windows!!!!!! seriously though, I do want to as I'm hopeless at finding my way, and if something happened to OH and I needed to take over driving on a permanent basis, the last thing I want is to be faffing about with getting lost!

Evening all,

It's been quite a nice day here ,just after lunch hubby decided he would give the front lawn a last cut as it was nice and dry out and would you believe it it started to rain but he just managed to get it done so he was pleased .

Liz the new wood stove looks good ,how was the chicken ? is it easy to control the heat ?

Well you must have been tired to sleep in like that Mel but then it was late before you went to bed .
Yes it's a nice little site with lots of nice things to make.

Your poor BIL Jane not so easy to find your way when it's dark either ,i expect he will be glad to get home after all that driving .
James was lucky to miss the hold up too.

I did some wedges for us tonight to have with some chicken ,when i got the tin out of the oven there sat a nice little crispy bit and i picked it off the tin ....boy was it hot it stuck to my finger :-0 now it's so sore ...that will teach me to pinch a bit !!

Tomorrow i'am going to sort out my chest freezer ,i had thought about doing it today but i didn't want hubby to see what needs chucking out :-0 i bet there 's all sorts in the bottom ,i'am a devil for just chucking stuff in and then i forget what i've bought .
