It's me again, I have been is such a state, I don't know if I am coming or going.
Finally got the cooker in and printer working. Johnathan was here in case Harvey needed any help. But Harvey is built like the original "BRICK @@@@ HOUSE" could pick the cooker up with no trouble. He loaded his truck with the old one and will drop it at the tip tomorrow.
Heard from my Nephew. My brother had his first session of Chemotherapy on Friday (FIVE HOURS) He now has to take Chemo Tablets for three weeks, then start the cycle again for the next 38 weeks.
I feel over in the shower this morning, and are having to use my stick to get around indoors. I keep loosing my balance and feeling faint. My body keeps having "HOT FLUSHES" and one minute I am hot then the next cold. I must talk to the doctor next time I am up there. I bet they put it down to my Stroke and getting older. :-D :-D :-D
I still managed to do the roast tonight. Even though most got thrown away. (I hate doing that) but neither of us felt like eating. The pudding rose quite high but the roasts didn't get as crispy as my old one. The Lamb was just perfect.
Poor old Larry Jane, he won't know if he is standing on his head or his backside ! Does Janice drive ?? perhaps he could do a small stint behind the wheel on the journey home. ;-) ;-) But if he was like me, I wouldn't let anybody drive if I was able.
That wood burner sounds just the ticket Liz, I am sure it will give you many years of service.
I can see you all have been busy with Christmas shopping. and decorating. I am glad that Harvey took all Lewis's and his family's presents. It's given us a little more space, we can now swing the cat that we haven't got. :-D :-D :-D
Not a lot to take my attention tonight on Tele. tonight. So an early night for me.
Carolyn is on the phone. Eleven of them went to the pub for lunch today. Family get together. The service was not good, Three meals served then a BIG WAIT for the others. By the time the last one got his meal the others had finished. The meals very poor. undercooked puddings (Yorkshire) meat tough and not a great selection of vegetables. So we won't be giving them a try any time soon. !!!!
Gill, I see L'pool got beat this afternoon by Newcastle. :-( :-( :-( :-(
See you tomorrow.

Jane, they could do with TomTom!!!!! I'm being given a lesson on how to set it up this week!! You may see the smoke from your Windows!!!!!! seriously though, I do want to as I'm hopeless at finding my way, and if something happened to OH and I needed to take over driving on a permanent basis, the last thing I want is to be faffing about with getting lost!

ooh Mandy I have often got a hot finger after trying to get a bit of crispy potato out of the tin.I doesn't half burn :-SIs your finger throbbing now? I really really need to start eating stuff from the freezer as there is no room at all for any Christmas stuff.
Frank do you think your Testosterone injections might be causing your heat explosions?.I know what it is like I suffered terrible flushes for years but am so happy that they seem to have passed now.it is just thhe smell of things now that make me come out in a hot sweat :-S
I hope the Chemo works for your Brother. Now you have heard from your Nephew again ,maybe there is some way you can ask how to get in touch with your Brother.
Janice does drive so she may well take over part of the journey home. She is not a confident driver on a long journey though. She just like to tootle around locally where she lives.
Just waiting for' Strictly' now. Frank did you see the Pub at Sixfields that caught fire ??..It was some fire.

I had to get my teath checked before the start hence a small filling tomorrow They only have private dentists on the island so I am not used to these prices..£50 for a check up and £65 for the filling lol....

Evening All,
Oh dear Frank, as Jane says it is horrid when you are hot one minute and cold the next. It's reminded me too how glad I am those extremes are all over!! I'm just hot most of the time now. Still it's nice to hear my OH say I'm hot in bed!! lol. ;-) It would be a good idea to mention it to your doc, perhaps you need a smaller dose now. It's good you have your new cooker working and also your printer. I'll get down to sending some more things to you soon. :-)
Pat my MIL used to have those injections too. She couldn't get on with the drink she was prescribed at first but she was fine with the injections. I hope you get better treatment for your teeth with those prices. lol. We are lucky enough to have NHS dentists here in the village and mine is always full of smiles and very gentle.
Mel I can sleep on like that sometimes! I'm rarely asleep before 1.30am anyway, even if I go to bed early, but the good thing is, once I drop off I don't keep waking up anymore.
Liz, your new oven sounds a great success and sounds like it will get plenty of use now.
Poor Larry Jane. OH often curses at the lack of or poor road signs. I think it is assumed that everyone uses satnavs now
My car is only a quarter full after today's jaunts so that's fine for tomorrow's trip to Burton. We went to see another garden centre display along the A5 today. There had been an accident just outside it so there was a tailback for a while. Some of the displays are so realistic nowadays. There was a sleigh pulled by a reindeer that had 2 sleeping huskies laying in it and they were moving and their fur going up and down just like they were really breathing! There were also a couple of reindeer there in a large enclosure outside. They were very tame and belong to the garden centre who have a herd of them. I couldn't get over the size of their feet!!
Then we called at MIL's house on the way back to clear some post and junk mail and check it was ok after the winds. This redirection milarkey only seems to partly work! Then we called to see FIL at the home. He was fine but even more frail now and can barely walk at all. His mind is quite muddled and he wasn't sure where his room was today. He did make us smile though when he was telling us he had seen the manager twice. He said the manager says 'Good Morning, Captain, how are you' to him and that he answers 'All present and correct, Sir'. We had a few alarm bells when he was saying some youths had beaten him up and that's why he had pain in his leg, but when he rambled on and was mentioning the germans again and how good the home was we weren't too worried. We think he may still be bruised from some of his falls as he cut his head last time so must have gone down with a bump. When we gave him the bar of chocolate we usually take he said Cicely had bought him the last bar which is the first time he has mentioned his wife to us since he visited her in hospital. Apparently he keeps removing his shoelaces and throwing them away so we need to get some more for him. The big heart shaped alarm clock one of the carers gave him that he was carrying in his carrier bag is now on his bedside table! He was asking whether the house was sold today, which startled us, but when OH asked him which house, it was clear he was talking about his childhood home!
When we got home I went for a spin to use a drop more fuel and take some photos of the village christmas lights.........and to have a few moments alone with my car before it goes. lol Aren't I soppy, it's ONLY a car!! :-) I was a bit teary again when I got home and told OH he could drive it back for me tomorrow so I could have both cars. :-) He said ok if I wanted to tax and insure two cars, but might I turn into a car hoarder? I've only been like this with one other car but I expect I'll be fine once I get in the new one. :-)
Off to bed to watch the Strictly results now.

Hi everyone
This is the first time I've had a sit down all day I've been so busy and I'm still doing yet more washing, although it's OH's uniform, so I didn't have a choice on that.
Sorry to hear your FIL isn't to good at the moment Ann, it must be quite upsetting to see. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease and so heart breaking to watch too. I remember my granddad had it, I was only in my 20's and it broke my heart to see him like that. At least your FIL is in a lovely place with a few friends which will help him <3
That was a long sleep Mel, you must of needed it. Mind you, you do have late nights so maybe it was your body telling you it was tired and needed to rest.
I sympathize with you Frank, I've had hot flushes for about 18 months now and it's no joke is it? I was talking to my neighbours daughter about it and she said it was 5 years of hell.......great I thought, something to look forward to then....NOT. Hope the doctor can do something to help you <3. Sorry to hear you've had a fall. Maybe with everything happening at the moment you should see the doctor as soon as possible to get things sorted before Christmas, then you can have a good time. I'm pleased you've finally heard something about your brother, I know how worried you were. Getting a contact number might be a good thing, then you don't have to worry so much again over the next 38 weeks. Hope all goes well for him.
I did feel for Larry Jane, there's nothing worse than getting lost, but to get lost in the dark must of been awful, hope they made it home ok.
Good luck at the dentist tomorrow Pat. That's a lot of money, but if you need a filling it's better than having toothache. Shame they don't have an NHS dentist on the Island though.
Good luck sorting out your freezer tomorrow Mandy, it's quite a job isn't it? I made a couple of apple pies today to use some of the frozen apples I had, to make some room in my freezer, as I want to make a start on my Christmas food shopping tomorrow. I've already got the sweets and a few tinned things, but no frozen items yet. Sandra has enjoyed helping me make the shopping list today, I just hope I've got enough room in the freezer for everything on the list ;-)
It looks like OH has Christmas Day off work this year, I just hope they don't change their minds and ask him to work, he's even got Christmas Eve off as well, he was suppose to work 8am to 2pm on Christmas Eve, but with working 8am to 8pm the two days before, I said he'd need to have a bit of time off so we can finish the shopping, things like bread, milk etc, so he's given Christmas Eve to someone else as they wanted an extra shift, I was really surprised, but glad as Tesco's wouldn't of been open Christmas day.
I made a parcel up for one of the residence at OH's home last night, for OH to take in today. He's a new resident who doesn't have any family or friends, he broke his hip and was in hospital from last October, he didn't have any clothes apart from jogging pants and a t-shirt. He didn't even have any slippers or shoes, so I made a bag up of toiletries. He was made up with the razor as he only had a disposable one. OH had a new one still in it's box with extra blades. We also had a new toothbrush and I added toothpaste, soap, shampoo and deodorant. OH gave him some thick socks he had that were new which he'd never worn. The resident was so grateful and put the socks on straight away. His feet must of been so cold with having no slippers to wear and he was thrilled with all the toiletries as well. The boss is going to get in touch with social services to see if they can go and get his clothes and some other things for him from his house as there is no family to ask. I was going to buy him a pair of slippers tomorrow when I went shopping but OH's boss said not to bother with them going to his house. I hope they sort it out tomorrow and don't leave the poor man with nothing for to long. I was nearly in tears last night when OH was telling me about him and within 5 minutes I had a bag of things for him. OH's boss offered us money for the items but OH said no. We didn't do it to be paid, it was because the man had nothing and we wanted to help.
Well, it's getting late and I'm shattered, so I'll just check to see if the washing machine has finished and get off to bed. I've got another busy day tomorrow with all the shopping and we're off to mum's too.
See you all tomorrow afternoon Night Night

O Fortuna. What a difference a leg makes. I have limited mobility due to
the problems with the L leg and sometimes the R knee reminds me that it's arthritic so the fool that jumped the wall is crippled, just about. Ellen can be a bit short first thing in the morning letting a tribe of cats in or out and be in her way. So I retreat to this room. Would make the average man morbid, perhaps I am? Wishing Ann good luck with her new car. Hoping the rest of this threads team's aches and pains and any sicknesses have worn off. TTFN

Got up earlier today. Just a breeze out and its dry and quite mild again which is a change from that horrid strong wind. I began to think it was never going to stop.
Dentist for me tomorrow quite early so excuse me if I don't get on here as I am having three of my front teeth out at the bottom.
Must get on with the rings today while I feel ok.
Bet Ann is all excited about getting the new car....... :-D :-) :-D :-) :-D :-)

Morning to all, Evening Kim,
David I think you cope with your disability very well. You always seem to have a bright personality and some of the things you say brings a smile to my face :-D :-D
Did Larry get back to yours alright Jane. and how late was he ?? I didn't know anything about the pub fire. Do you know the name of it ???
Carolyn and John are of to Tenerife tomorrow until Feb/March. so the girls are going to take loads of cloths and Christmas decorations to the Charity shop. Then they will have lunch and collect bits and pieces from Tesco's.
You will be able to sing "All I want for Christmas is my THREE front teeth" Mel. I hope it's not too painful. Keep the cold air away from the area, because that could be sore. GOOD LUCK :-0 :-0 :-0 Ros won't get near me in bed, because I am so hot. If we had the room, single beds would be ideal.
Very light breeze here this morning and the sun is out. So here's hoping Desmond has found another home !!!
Gill that will be nice if you can have your Family Christmas Dinner on the day, rather than fit it in around his shifts. That was very thoughtful of you to get a package together for the chap on his own. God bless you xxxx
When I lived in Barton Seagrave, we would make up a box of Christmas Dinner for a family, and hand it to the welfare people, who would distribute it to a needy family. We did offer to have a family, but was advised against doing that. I was told you never knew who these people were.
How was the Chicken Liz. ?? as I said I will need a bit of time to get use to mine. After having the old one all these years. you get to know them, don't you. (SILLY OLD SOD) I hear you say. !!!
There's not a lot I can do to get the freezer down. There are King Black prawns, Four lobsters, Beef Wellington TWO Hams. (they will be cooked before Christmas) all the other will go to Devon with us on Boxing day. Then I will be able to see what I have got in there.
I am still getting around on my stick, I don't want an accident while Ros is out.
Just heard that Lewis is coming up on Thursday to stay two nights. and Ros will take him back Saturday morning. She will drop him off at the Café where he works Saturday, then meet up with his Mum for coffee and shopping. So I will be "HOME ALONE"

Couldn't open it Mel, but from the photo it looked a real good smash.
There are cards ready to be opened, I have to leave it to Ros. as about this time I start receiving B'Day cards, AND SHE PUTS THOSE AWAY.(sorry caught the Cap key).
I had a right old panic attach this morning (12.20 pm) I hadn't had breakfast (naughty boy) so thought I would have lunch early. I put a saucepan with soup in, on the gas. The phone rang, so I dashed to answer that It was my mate from Kettering. Then bugger me the door bell went. I didn't know what to do first. The soup was boiling over, the postman was trying to poke a big packet through the letter box, and I am trying to have a conversation. I turned off the soup, grabbed at the letters and packages, and apologised to Alan and rang off. I had to sit down and gather my composure. I got myself in a right old to do. !!!
Ros didn't go out with Carolyn after all. She phoned to say someone had turned up. She went out about noon, so I don't know where she is all this time.
Dinner all ready to go on about 5.00 pm Lamb in onions, in the oven and four veg and mash potato's (make a change from roast)
Well, not that I have been out, It looks like it's been a perfect day. Sunshine most of the day and a lovely sky now, so SHOULD BE A DRY NIGHT. (done it again) !!!
How have you all faired with the weather ?? Fiona, David in particular.
How's that lovely smelling new car Ann. That's something I do miss opening a new car ready for delivery, with that lovely clean smell. If it was leather I would sit and breath in that wonderful smell. !!!! (HAPPY DAYS )

Hi all
What a day we've had, we were late going out this morning shopping, so we didn't end up at mum's in the end, going on Thursday instead. The reason we were later going out is because the agent wanted to book in another viewing for Wednesday. Well, while we were out the fella who wants to view our place put in an offer, we are negotiating at the moment I'm just waiting for the agent to ring us back. It's very strange that he has put in an offer before even seeing this place, but when we refused the offer and said what we would except, he said he couldn't go any higher and since he put in the offer to us he's put in another offer on another place, so we're hoping he's not going to mess us about, we need to speak with the agent to except the offer that was made but OH has said that he's not willing to go down any further, so I'm just waiting to see what is going to happen.
We might need the shed you were offering the other day Frank LOL as we haven't found anywhere to buy yet.
I'm chatting with Michelle online so haven't read any post yet. Will read them later <3

Anne, I've re sent the e,card I sent you. Hope it reaches you ok. Another busy day here!! Completed Xmas shopping, so tomorrow I shall be wrapping up presents, mind you most of them are money! The girls are of an age when they are better to buy what they want, colour, style, size etc can be issues, so it's best to let them choose. Little boy's having a present, he's only 8 so he does still like to unwrap whatever it is. Did more gardening today!! The weeds are alive and well - in December!!! Awful pictures on the news about the floods, one poor soul was in tears, I did feel for her.

Afternoon All,
Well it's parked up in the drive now and yes Frank it has that nice 'new' smell as you say. The salesman told me it was filled up to the brim with fuel and he'd have had to tip the car on it's side to get any more in. There are some nice carpet type mats in it now but I may get some rubber ones to go on top of those for the winter as both of us can have muddy shoes if we go walking and rubber is a lot easier to clean. I was still awake at 3.00am this morning with a thousand thoughts going through my head.....but after one day I love it and so does OH.........I'll be losing it to him if I'm not careful!! I had to ring the garage when I got home as the handbook was missing from the folder but they apologised and said they should have checked and have put it in the post for me. They said they have to take them out of the new cars nowadays as people looking around in the showroom nick them!!! :-S They said they would ring me in a few days to see how I am getting on with it. :-)
Mel, I wouldn't want to let her near my new car!! lol
Oh dear Frank, it sounds like you needed to be in 3 places at once this morning!! :-S It's good you heard from your nephew and it sounds like your brother has a tough time ahead with all the chemo, but the effects aren't as bad for some so hopefully he will be one of those. It will be nice to have Lewis stay.....does he still wind you up? lol. I bet he's taller every time you see him now. :-)
Gill, what a kind and thoughtful thing to do for that man and it would mean so much to him. I look around at some of the others in FIL's home and wonder if they all get visitors or have family. Alzheimers is hard to deal with as you say. FIL was saying how they only have the METRO newspaper there and there's no Daily Mail. (which he used to go and fetch each morning when he was at home). We know he couldn't read much more than the headlines now, yet it seems to be the habit of going to fetch it for so many years he misses. Some thoughts are so muddled and the mind seems to make up the missing bits, other memories gone completely then there is lucidity that can be startling. FIL has always been fascinated to the minutest detail of how things work. At home he would watch workmen that came to do things and be able to describe in detail what they did. He was telling us yesterday what all the plugs in the sockets in his bedroom did including the one that sounds an alarm if he steps on his bedside mat. He knew who should appear then and what would happen if they didn't appear. It is astonishing how the mind can hang on to some thoughts like that while others vanish after a few minutes.
I hope your finger isn't so sore now Mandy. I'm a devil for burning my fingers when getting sausage rolls off the tin when they have stuck!! :-0 The crispy potato bits are nice aren't they!
David, I think you have coped well with all that's happened with your leg and you never sound miserable. At least these days with the internet you can have friends like us can't you! :-)
I forgot to say that while I was out last night I travelled to Countesthorpe where I lived after my first marriage and near there along one of the lanes on the verge at the side of the road I saw a tiny Muntjac deer!! I've never ever seen one of those around here before.
I think it will be an early night for me tonight. I've had a sick kind of headache today.......just hope I haven't caught an infection from FIL's home as one of the residents sitting near FIL had a bad cold. It may be because I didn't sleep well and with the excitement today though.

Thanks Fiona and Anne, your cards arrived today, Sandra's asked me to say thank you for hers Anne, she likes opening mail and sometimes opens mine.....bless her.
Yes Alzheimer's is a hard disease on everyone Ann. It does sound like your FIL has still got the knack of how things work though, so that's good <3 <3 :-)
So you've got your new car, pleased to hear you're happy with it and wasn't it nice of the salesman to offer to post the manual to you. Fancy people stealing them out of the cars, surely they wouldn't be worth anything without the car :-S
It sounds like you've had a busy day today Liz and another one planned for tomorrow, I've finished all my Christmas shopping now and have wrapped up all the presents so that's a big job out of the way. I bought a bit to much frozen food for Christmas today, so I've had to take out quite a lot of frozen apples, not sure what I'm going to do with them all, I might make some apples pies and give them to the neighbours as I made two for us yesterday so don't need any more at the moment. I still have lots of frozen apples left in the freezer to make more if I want them in the future.
Well, the viewing has been cancelled and the offer taken back, apparently he's decided to make an offer on another property, I wonder if he's made the offer before viewing, like he wanted to do with us. OH said he is relieved in a way as he sounded like he'd mess us around with the way he was doing things, he said if he's like that now what would he be like further down the line? I don't know how I feel at the moment.
Watching my soaps now, so better get back to them. BBL
