Evening All

The film was brilliant. But I hadn't realised that it was going to be sad as well as so funny.I only had one tissue in my handbag so it got rather soggy near the end of the film. You girls will enjoy it when you get it on DVD.
But then the journey home was DREADFUL.It has taken us almost 2 hours !!! as there had been a very nasty accident between a lorry and 3 cars on the Nene Valley rd nr Riverside(you know where Frank).I was hearing on the car radio that traffic was queuing right back as far as Roade !!!!!!!!.I think that is near you isn't it Frank?.That is one heck of a tail back :-S.

Oh dear Frank what a pity the new mower is going to be too heavy for you.I suppose you had no idea when you got it.Never mind I am sure you will be able to sell it on and get a lighter one next year.
Bit of practice needed for the new Cooker then ;-)...Is it gas or Electric?Or a gas top and electric oven?

Cheeky Lewis LOL He is a right card isn't he.He does sound such a lovely lad.Hopefully he will stay that way.

Gill did you ever get a sewing machine? I know you were wanting one.Or are you doing the alterations to the new dressingown by hand?

David the story of The Lady in the van is by Alan Bennett .The chap who played him could have been his twin !!!.Maggie Smith was excellent as usual.I think that was the last film I am seeing this year.Chris still has 2 more lined up before Xmas

We had a nice lunch again at Pizza Express.I had Risotto today.I just wish they had more staff as there was a fair bit of waiting. So no cooking at all tonight for me :-D.James has gone to friends tonight for Steaks. He bought the steaks at a Butchers in Thrapston yesterday.Quite a way to go to a Butchers, but he says they do the best steaks.

Mel I think the price of a single pepper is crazy !!!!!.I can't understand why they are 69p just for 1 and way less than a £ for a pack of 3.Lidl prices for veg are great.
I am glad you didn't feel anything at the Dentist.Bet it feels weird now with a big gap there in the front. You will have to try and not keep your tongue out of the way tonight until it heals over.

Evening all,

We had quite heavy rain first thing then out came the sun ,didn't last long but we did see it for a while.

Hope your mouth isn't to sore Mel after having the teeth out , you have done so well not having the cigs don't give in now :-) <3
You can get some bargains in Lidl but i couldn't do a full shop in there like i can in Morrisons or Tesco's.

What a shame the Mower is to heavy for you Frank, do you think it will be easier for the back lawn where you can go up and down and not have so many tight turns ?
Perhaps you'll be able to find a lighter one to use and then you could resell this one.
What went wrong with the oven then ? was it the wrong temp ? you would have thought an hour and a half for the onions would have cooked them .

So your back on the sewing then Gill ,have you decided what to do with the blue material you bought ?
I bet Sandra has had great fun picking out all the Christmas programmes in the tele mag ,i must look out for one when i go shopping .

Well i got the lights out for the tree and some of the bulbs weren't working ,it was odd as usually there are sections that fail but there was odd ones here and there so i nipped out and bought some new ones i couldn't be bothered to sort them out as i bet as soon as i got them on the tree some more would fail .
I got some coloured ones this time ,the last ones were just white bulbs .
So at the moment i have the lights on and the fairy on the top ,i've never taken so long to dress the tree .

We're off to see Katie in her nativity in the morning and then it's Laceys turn in the afternoon .
Also got some shopping to do so it will be a busy day in and out .

Hows the car going Ann ?Vroom Vroom :-D :-D

No David lol Thank goodness there are some kind hearted people out there :-D

My Niece has had a very confused and disorientated man sitting in her lounge .He apparently knocked on her door. The Police had been looking for him as he hadn't arrived home after being released from Hospital .In the last few minutes the police have come and collected him.I think she gave him a cup of tea and some biscuits to keep him occupied and calm until the police arrived.

It is usually me who attracts all sorts of weird and wonderful waifs and strays LOL

Gosh Jane that could be quite frightening. Was he an old man or a young one?

Oh has banned me from going out. He corned the chickens and bantams and went out and shut them in for me. I have had a day off and its been so nice. I have had a little fiddle with my wool and felt.

Gillx Report 8 Dec 2015 20:13

Is that you in your avatar David?

How is your mouth now Mel, hope it's not to sore.

Yes Jane, I altered the dressing gown and made the pocket all by hand. I haven't got a sewing machine. It took me most of the day, but it's all finished now.
Sorry to hear you got caught up in all that traffic, but pleased you enjoyed the film :-)
How strange that man turning up at your Nieces, thankfully the police have sorted it now. It must of been quite a shock for her.

Some of our lights were out too Mandy, they were all working perfectly fine until OH took them out of the box then three quarters of them stopped working, so I just added a few more that I already had in the bungalow. The lights on the tree are all white and go really well with the snow tree we have.

I bought some coloured lights a month ago as the ones I used for the village scene I made last year broke the day before the decs came down, but I don't have the welsh dresser in the living room anymore so I didn't use the lights in the end, with not having anywhere to put the village.

I did ask OH if he could make me a large box to put the village in, but he was to busy, so it didn't get made. Never mind, maybe next year

I've finished everything for Christmas now, all the presents are bought and wrapped up, the tree and the decorations are all up and most of the food is bought, I've just got the bread and milk to buy nearer to Christmas day and of course the chocolate trifle Sandra likes from Tesco's. I saw the trifle the other day but I need one with a longer use by date, so will have to buy one nearer the time.

So at the moment I'm really bored, with everything being done. I've even posted all my Christmas cards and the parcel to Australia and will be giving my mum her presents and card on Thursday, along with my sisters, as I think she is staying with mum over Christmas. We'll take OH's mum's present the week before Christmas as OH is working a lot before then and she doesn't live close by, so there's nothing left for me to do at the moment.

I've read the Lady in the Van, and it's a lovely story, so I'm looking forward to getting the DVD. I've read a lot of Alan Bennett, and watched a lot of TV, The History Boys, Talking Heads and so on. A friend lives very close to where it all took place, which makes it more interesting. Just tried out the new DVD in our bedroom! It's so easy to work! completely idiot proof!!! It also takes CD's as well, so that's pretty good too.
Nice day here, dried washing outside!!! Tomorrow Waitrose with OH, then Malmesbury for a couple of final presents. No news of the hospital appointment, probably be after Xmas now. Hope so, as we're busy bees for the next day or two.
I'm reading The Magic Apple Tree at the moment, Son's partner lent it too me, it's very good.

Jane Report 8 Dec 2015 20:55

The man was 62. His parents had been his carers until they passed away .He then went into a home.Apparantly when he was discharged from the hospital they told him to catch a bus !!!!!!!!!!!!.....Hence he ended up a bit lost and confused.....He was obviously a vulnerable person and seems to me that the hosptial made a big mistake there :-S :-S..He cried when he left my Niece with the police :-( :-(

Liz I loved Talking Heads when it was on TV.I think we should have a re-run :-D

Just getting myself settled now to watch the next episode of Capitol :-D

Is Ann still zooming in the new car? :-D :-D

Annx Report 8 Dec 2015 21:45

Evening All,

How awful for you Anne to have to go through all that worry and treatment! You did well to get through it all. A friend at beading class who moved on to another group in the Spring has since been diagnosed with breast cancer. One of the other ladies goes bowling with her and keeps in touch and said she is in the middle of chemotherapy now and has had an allergic reaction to some of the drugs. I wrote her a long note to go inside a Christmas card I gave to to my friend at class last week to pass on to her. I thought you must feel very alone and needing support from everyone when you are battling something like that.

Thank you for your cards Jane, Anne, Gill and Sandra...... they are lovely and have joined the other GR ones.

Oh dear Frank.......what a shame the mower seems too heavy for you on the smaller lawn. You'll have to see how it is on the back one in the Spring like you say. I find my cooker I have now seems slower than the previous one. I don't know if it's to do with the fan, but even when I use it without the fan on it is the same. :-S So much hot air seems to come out of it as well from around the door.

That's good the tooth ordeal is over now Mel and without much trouble. You should be healed up for Christmas eating. Just keep saying no to yourself when you fancy a cig. Your OH did well with the peppers at Lidl. It always amazes me how small the bill is when I go to Aldi or Lidl. Even if you only buy some of their things it saves quite a bit. :-) I never knew there was a Fireman's magazine.

Gawd the builder had a digger going and a lorry being loaded with soil before 7.45 am this morning. The neighbour next to the noise will be complaining about it soon I expect as he was concerned this would happen early in the mornings.

Yes, Jane I have been zooming in my car again today! :-) I had to do some swift braking too just up the road where the traveller site is. A couple of dogs were loose on their own, an Alsation and a black Spaniel type and the Alsation ran across the road and then ran back again just in front of me and I had to stop. If I'd been on my own I'd have pulled over somewhere and gone and asked at the site and got them to fetch them, but I didn't think OH would have been impressed with that idea even though the site is smart and well run!!! I went to Asda in my car later to take a top back and parked where I usually go in an end space with a narrow strip of cross hatching next to it. I managed to slightly overlap the cross hatching with my wheels to give me loads of room to open the door. As I was hauling myself out in an ungainly fashion I heard a man laughing. I looked up and saw him walking towards me and he said 'that's exactly what I do'. I must have looked puzzled, not sure if he meant my ungainly exit, so he turned and pointed behind him and there on the end of another row was a light grey car exactly the same model as mine parked at the end with wheels on the cross hatching!! He said he did the same now since he'd got trapped inside his once when people parked too close and he couldn't open the door to get out. :-S

OH went to a match at junction 29 of the M1 tonight with his pal.......in his own car!! He didn't get there though because of an accident on the motorway, so drove back as soon as he could leave the motorway and went to a local game instead. There are no car barneys here Frank.....I buy it with my dosh so it is mine. lol ;-) He's welcome to use it if his is in the garage or has problems or if he asks nicely and it's the same vice versa. But if we had only one car there WOULD be barneys as he is out an awful lot and I would hardly get a look in. :-S

I knew you'd enjoy the film Jane. Maggie played the character so well didn't she. I don't think I would have let her park on my drive either, but I would have tried to help her find somewhere else and given her food when she needed it. Imagine what it would be like in bitterly cold weather!! Fancy your sister having to help that poor man. It must be awful to be confused and lost like that. When he saw the Police he must have thought he'd done something wrong, but I expect once he was back at the home he would recognise it and be ok. He would be so vulnerable though as you say.

Gill, well done altering the dressing gown by hand! I hope you manage to get a sewing machine soon as you seem to be good at altering things. You seem to get so much more done than me too.....you are like a little whirlwind!! Your snowy tree with white lights sounds very pretty and I can imagine Sandra picking out her programmes to watch over Christmas. We really must sort what decs we are putting up soon. A patch of lights on our tree seemed to have failed last year so I turned that bit of tree to the wall.

Mandy I bet you are looking forward to seeing the girls in their Nativity plays tomorrow. :-D I bet they will be looking for you in the audience to wave to. If you get any pics I would like to see them please.

It's 9.40 and we're both in bed watching a program on BBC4 called 'Blood and Gold, the making of Spain.' It's fascinating and the scenery wonderful. Next, the news, then sleep!!
I thought we'd have altercations on the car front, now we only have the one, but it's been fine! Mind you, neither of us goes out on their own that much these days, so it's not been a problem.

No, that's not me in the avatar Gill, it's my friend Drew Pritchard from Colwyn.

He's a very successful salvage hunter who does things up and sells them.

Even has his own show on Quest TV.

Cuppa tea time. Should use the Teasmade.

Morn ing all and evening Kim,

Suns out here at the moment and it dos'nt look like the wind is blowing at all today. I hav'nt been out there yet.

Mandy if you amnage to get any pics of the girs in the nativity plays could we please share them?

Mouth feels a little stange this morning but dos'nt hurt at all. Hungry and don't know what to have for breakfast. Probably some bread and butter.

Shame you don't live closer Gill as I have a sewing machine oh bought me for £10 at one of our fetes for the bell fund. It only does basic stitch and goes backwards but I have never used it as mum had the two electric ones. Its not something you could send in the post!!!!!!!

Frank

Frank Report 9 Dec 2015 12:08

Morning you lot, Evening Kim,

I see you have all been busy, chatting and shopping. I think I am lucky that I don't need to go out shopping as Ros does it all.

It was my fault regarding the cooker. I have only replaced the Double oven. I had the temperature set correctly, but there are settings for the oven light only, cooking setting and warming setting. I put it on warming, and of course it warmed the meat and gravy and ONLY warmed the onion.

Nice fresh morning here. I have put the line up as Ros has changed the bed and done a whites wash. That can go out and have a good blow.

I said to Ros yesterday, bring something in for dinner as after upsetting myself with the mowing I didn't fancy cooking. She bought home two Steak Dianne Dinners with various veg and oven chips. The Steak Dianne's were the best ready meals I have eaten. Loads of steak and mushrooms and the sauce was to die for. Well worth a try Tesco Finest.

Tony rang to offer me a lift to see the match last night, so I went out for a couple of hours. When we came out of the pub the Temperature had dropped 6/8 degrees. So it felt very chilly.

I heard from my SIL last night (Bills wife) to say Susan her daughter who will be 60 on Saturday has had THREE HEART ATTACTS in the passed TEN DAYS. She is in hospital, so I must ring to check on her. We have been very close all her life. On her 1st Birthday I took her a MASSIVE TEDDY BEAR. Which she kept for years. When she was TWENTY ONE (I was separated then) I drove down to her party 85 miles for an hour or so, then had to drive back.

I have just taken a basket of washing out, to go on the line. I tripped down the step of the conservatory, ran across the patio and tripped down the steps onto the lawn. I didn't spill any washing. Ros has told me off, for not leaving it to her. I try to help and I'm still in trouble. ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3 <3

Hope everyone is fighting fit this morning, and enjoying the sunshine.

Afternoon all

David, you said Drew lived in Colwyn, is that Colwyn Bay? I used to live there. I've watch salvage hunters before David and have got it to record tonight on Quest...I'm looking forward to watching it again :-) :-) I didn't realise it was back on, OH and I like programmes like that, so he'll be pleased to know it's back on when he gets in from work later.

Yes, it is a shame I don't live closer to you Mel, it would be so much quicker with a sewing machine. You're right though it's not something you could pop in the post ;-) but thanks anyway. It would of come in handy today as I'm about to start altering a coat for Sandra and it's a big job, especially by hand lol.
Glad to hear you're not in any pain after your visit to the dentist yesterday <3 Maybe you could eat a nice soft boiled egg, for breakfast and then some warm soup for lunch ;-) Just be careful it's not to hot though.

I'd like to see some pics of the girls in the nativity plays too Mandy, if you take some. I miss watching my girls when they were younger in their plays and don't have any grandchildren. So it nice to hear about everyone else's grandchildren.

7.45 is early Ann for diggers, how long is all the work going to take? It's not going to be very nice being woken up that early everyday. What a shock that must of been having the dog run in front of your car, luckily you didn't hit it. At least you know your brakes work ok ;-)

I'm really cold today, I can't seem to get warm at all, even though the heating is on. Sandra says it's hot in here, so I hope I'm not coming down with something as I'm shivering :-(

Going to make a start on Sandra's coat now

Just got back from shopping and managed to buy all the outstanding presents! So I feel well chuffed! Just got to wrap them and that's that, done and dusted! Lovely sunny day here but a bit windy! I gather it's raining again in the North! Those poor people! What a Christmas this will be for them.

Sorry Frank didn't see your post there.

Well done for not dropping any of the washing, but please be careful. You did make me laugh a bit, sorry, when you were explaining how you tripped then tripped again, only you could trip twice LOL. Pleased to hear you didn't hurt yourself though. So now you know what you did wrong with the cooker. At least you won't make that mistake again. The ready meal sounds nice :-)
Sorry to hear about Susan. Will she need an operation? That's a lot of heart attacks in 10 days. Hope she gets well soon <3

I missed your post too Liz. So you've finished all your present shopping now? It's a nice feeling to know it's done isn't it, and to know that you won't have to struggle through all the crowds now?
Yes more rain forecasts for the North, my heart goes out to those poor people, not much of a Christmas to look forward to :-( :-(

Gillx Report 9 Dec 2015 14:08

Thanks for the Christmas cards Jane and Pat, they've just arrived and are lovely :-)

I can't do Sandra's coat it's to big and padded to do by hand. I was just trying to sew the main coat to the lining around the waist as it looks a big baggy. It gathers at the waist by a bit of elastic that is threaded through the lining and is adjustable but it would of looked better if the channel the elastic went through was sewn to the actual coat as well. Sandra said it was ok. To be honest I don't think she was bothered either way, so at least she isn't upset that I can't do it.
