Frank Report 11 Dec 2015 15:13

Well I have had a couple of hours rest in the quiet. Going to get myself a drink now and relax with Nat Geo.

Liz, I would forgive you anything !!! I am on tablets for this condition, the Doctor has examined me numerous times over this. It is part to do with my Stroke and the terrible after effect of the damage to my brain and nervous system. This is why, I get these hot flushes and temper swings. None of us like it, but I assume the Doctor is prescribing the right medication.

The TomTom is such an easy thing to use. We find it very helpful when going somewhere we are not sure about. Just put in the Post Code to your destination and away you go. (WELL MOST TIMES) :-D :-D :-D I am sure you will master it with no trouble.

We haven't had any rain yet, at the moment we have sunshine and blue sky's. The sun is so bright, that you can't look up into it. :-0 :-0 :-0

It is hoped we will take Lewis to a new (to us) Chinese. Martine has been there and says it's "FAB" It will depend how I am feeling. At the moment not too bad.

Lewis has collared my Winter dressing gown, He came out of the shower this morning, and after drying himself off, wrapped himself in the dressing gown. I had better check his bag before he goes home, as I can see that going walkies ;-) ;-) ;-)

He has grown so much since I last saw him, and has the hairiest legs (Just like his Dad) !!!! I am hoping we will get more weekends when he can stay for a few days. The problem is he has college four or five days every other week, his job every Saturday, and football every Sunday afternoon during the football season.

It will sort itself out in the wash no doubt.

See you all soon.

Anne Report 11 Dec 2015 15:46

Liz, I did thank you for my e-card on the 8th Dec just checked back to make sure but thank you again anyway.

Mandy thank you for yours it arrived this morning.

Frank I hope you are feeling better now, it's very scary when something like that happens.

Gill I hope you too are feeling better, it's not nice being off colour this time of the year with lots to think about and do.

Amy had her usual walk this morning its a lot colder here today and quite windy, we met someone with a bloodhound I haven't seen one of these for ages.

Alice, the baby daughter of Abbie & Becky's step sister has just been diagnosed with scarlet fever poor little soul . I had this when I was 13, I had just come back from Paris on a school trip the idea being to improve our French, anyway the day after we arrived back I woke up with a rash all over, in those days it meant quarantine but because I had my own bedroom and my mother didn't work I was allowed to stay at home but confined to my room at all times, when I had recovered the room had to be fumigated , seems strange now.

Oh Anne, I'm so sorry!! Put it down to old age!!! Sometimes they go through ok, and other times they don't!!! I've just checked back, and yes, yours went with no trouble! So again sorry!!!
Frank, so long as you are in the system so to speak, then that's ok! It's horrid for you, but so long as you know how to handle it then sadly it's a cross that has to be born . Going to bed to rest and wait for 'a turn' to pass would seem the best thing to do. Take care though. TomTom went fine! As you say it's so easy to set up and use. If you can use a kindle, you can use T.T! I shall have another run through on Sunday, just to be absolutely sure, then RUH here we come!!
We're having sausages, smash potatoes and sprouts for supper. Nice and easy and not too much clearing up!

No need to apologise Liz, I have "senior moments" all the time ;-)

Jane Report 11 Dec 2015 17:16

Afternoon All
It's blooming freezing . It must be coldest that it has been for a while.I was puting the little lights on the miniture Box either side of the front door and my fingers were nearly frozen off :-S.Itls looking pretty in here with the lights and garland over the mantlepiece and another on one of my window sills.Tree lights on too.
I didn't go out today so will have to get more batteries tomorrow for another couple of sets of lights.I had just enough here today for 3 lots.

I have spent the afternoon wrapping presents.Still have the mens to do but as they are both around I will have to wait unil they are out.

Oh Frank I hope you will be feeling well enough tonight to go out with Lewis and Ros to the new Chinese. Those turns knock you for 6 don't they :-(
I often miss things after Hannah has been to stay.It is usually things like a moisture cream or a deodorant that she has used while staying.Although she is not a bad as she used to be.

Gill and Mandy I hope you are both feeling better now and that your funny throat hasn't developed in to anything more Mandy.

Mel how are the teeth now?.Did you say you were going back to the dentist today? They shouldn't be popping out of place.

Chris has been setting his Tom Tom ready for Sunday when we go to Hannah's new place. So it has been a Tom Tom day for you too Liz :-D.He is a funny mood today (not a Ha Ha one :-S)..Bit of a misery guts really.I stay out of his way when he is like this rather than me getting exasperated and saying something wrong LOL.I can't be doing with falling out over nothing :-)

I had one of those Daylight table Hobby Lamps arrive today. It will make it much easier for me when I do my colouring.

Hows the car Ann? Still Vroom Vrooming around ? :-D :-D

Jane Report 11 Dec 2015 18:15

Anne when I had my old boy Dodger we used to meet up with a girl who had a Bloodhound called Bunty :-D :-D...I don't think I have ever seen one since. There are a lot of Bassetts about but no Bloodhounds.

Oh Scarlet Fever.I remember my friend Linda who lived across the road being stuck in her bedroom with that. She would chat to me through her open big window while she was incarcerated lol.I hope little baby Alice will soon recover from this horrible thing.

Thomas has had quite a feast today.Breakie as usual about 6 30.Then who knows what on his early morning venture.A pouch of food about 3pm and then Chris saw him munching on a mouse on the patio. He then went off for about 3 hours and has just come in.I gave thim the fish from 2 fish fingers(without the crumb).I had fish fingers for lunch...He has wolfed that down and is now curled up fast asleep on the settee.I think he has a nice full tum.

David you have a wicked sense of humour.I think we must have all thought you knew this Drew Pritchard LOL..Naughty David.

Evening all,

Not been a bad day here today ,bit chilly in the wind but it has stayed dry .

My throat is quite dry and i'am now coughing a bit ,hubby has it too and son said his throat felt dry this morning so with a bit of luck we should all have got over it by christmas .

Gill i hope your feeling better today , it was nice for hubby to get his tax rebate , i bet he was pleased, just right for christmas.

Frank hope your feeling better too after your turn this morning and that you manage to get out for that Chinese meal together .

Jane those day light lamps are good ,much better for the eyes when doing close up work ,i have one that i had for my cross stitching but i must admit i haven't used it for while .
I haven't wrapped one present yet and i still have some cards to write out for family ,they are the ones that we just hand out and don't have to post , i must get them done tomorrow.

We nipped to the Bernard Matthews shop at lunch time ,i got a large Turkey crown for £10 ,a medium sized crown and a small one too ,much cheaper to buy there than in the shops , i usually get two or three as it makes the trip worth going for then.
The shop is only open at certain times and as we got there just as they opened the queue was so long and they only let twelve people in the shop at a time because of fire regulations ,one chap had a loaded basket and a Turkey crown came sliding out of his basket and missed my toe by inches !!

Anne i hope little baby Alice soon gets better , that's a nasty thing for the poor little girl to get and just before christmas too.
I don't think i've ever seen any one with a Blood Hound round this way ,are they the dogs with those long ears ?

Annx Report 11 Dec 2015 19:44

Evening All,

Well we had a queue of 3 lorries waiting on the road outside to deliver concrete and sand for the builder at 7.30am this morning so no chance of a lie in!! Then others followed on blocking both neighbours' drives at the end next door to us at different times when they wanted to go out! It's only a single lane private road so there's no room to manoeuvre and the lorries had to reverse all the way back up the road onto the main close. :-S I expect we will get a lot more of this now as well as a lot of noise.

I went to get my glass this morning and the fish on the dish turned out better than I expected. The teacher told me I needed to back it with another sheet of glass but there wasn't any left so he found me 2 pieces to make up the size. He assured me that the glass would fuse together and I wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't one piece. He was wrong as there is a line across where the join is which rather spoils it. :-S Also my 2 matching coasters look as if they went in separate firings as one looks more molten than the other and has big bubbles!!! The 2 pendants I made and the snowman to hang on the tree look fine. I'll take some pics tomorrow and send them.

That was a good idea to go to bed till it passed Frank as it sounds like it's something you just have to manage the best way you can. It must feel horrid when it happens though. It sounds like Lewis has taken to your dressing gown, you'll have to get him one for Christmas to keep at your place!

I had Scarlet Fever when I was 4 or 5 and had to go to an isolation hospital in Birmingham. No visitors were allowed in and you had to wave to your parents through the ward windows. I didn't eat for days, wouldn't talk or play with any toys. I thought I'd been taken away and remember I couldn't eat because of the big lump in my throat all the time as I held back the tears. We were carried to the toilet at first and, as Anne says, all our belongings had to be fumigated when we went home. Mum sent me a Punch and Judy toothbrush and toothpaste, but I wouldn't use it and said it wasn't mine and the nurses couldn't convince me it was.

I wonder how Mel got on with her wreaths today, I bet she's been busy.

Yes I've been out in my car again Jane, but I reckon sliding the seat forward when I was parked uphill yesterday has jiggered my back again and set it off. I've limped about today. Maybe I should have had the model with electric seats after all. lol No I didn't want those as it's something else to go wrong. I shall stick a heat patch on tomorrow and see how it goes. Just as I was going to decorate the house too.......looks like it will be waiting a day or two longer now.

I went to Sainsbury's this afternoon and they are running out of day to day things because of all the Christmas stuff on the shelves. I came away without two things I wanted.

I hope you all recover quickly Mandy and are fit for Christmas as you say. That was cheap for a big Turkey crown. They must be good value if people were queuing too.

I haven't seen a Bloodhound for years either. Speaking of dogs, did anyone see Paul Grady last night and the Corgi at Battersea that was introduced to the Queen as she visited? I think everyone was hoping she might give him a home.

I hope you are still improving Gill and feeling better. I think there are a lot of bugs about at the moment. Yes I'm looking forward to seeing the meteorite (OH won't be with me as he goes to footie most Saturdays!) There will be people from the Space Centre in the city there too to answer any questions and I've thought of a couple to ask them.

:-)

As it's Friday I had fish and chips and a pine apple ring for tea.
I'm aware it's a regional term, some call it lunch, others might call it dinner.
I've always referred to my evening meal as my tea...Does that make me common?

Annx

Annx Report 11 Dec 2015 21:47

Mum and Dad always called our teatime meal 'tea' when I was a youngster David, even if it was our main hot meal. Dinner would be had midday then so I was probably common then too if you are! I would have enjoyed your meal with the pineapple ring! I like lemon juice on my fish and either tomato or tartare sauce usually, but sometimes vinegar. :-) I bought some large fish fingers today and some salmon.

That should be an interesting party considering that some of the clients could be seen as lunch by the others Liz!! :-0

Jane Report 11 Dec 2015 21:50

Near miss then Mandy on your toe !!!.I had forgotten Bernard Matthews was 'Norfolk'
Sounds like you got a good deal there :-D

David ,when I was young,it was Breakfast ,lunch and Tea.
Now it is Breakfast lunch and Dinner. Our friend Fitz calls the evening meal Supper.(He is posh :-D)
As you say I think we all call our evening meal something different, depending on which part of the country we live in.......BRUNCH was never a word used until some years ago,a meal for breakfast and lunch.I think it is a perfect word :-D

So posh pooch on Wednesday then Liz :-D..Cassie will be belle of the ball :-D

Ann how disappointing that the glass work didn't quite turn out as you hoped.Glad you are pleased with the pendants and Snowman though.
It must be dreadful for you at the moment with all the lorries at that time of the morning. It sounds like it will go on for some time
I am surprised they are allowed to start work that early in residential road. :-S :-S
I hope your back settles down. Was it stretching under the set to move it that did it?I find I have a bit of a struggle to reach the handle under my seat to move it back or forward.

I don't watch Paul O'Grady Love of dogs as I am always worried there will be some terribly sad story....I think I heard some time ago that the Queen would not be having any more Corgies .Surely her heart strings must have been pulling at Battersea.

It is strange that we don't see Bloodhounds around anymore.I don't see so many Boxer dogs either.Different breeds come in and out of fashion .I am seeing far more tiny dogs these days.It is strange seeing a massive tattoed man walking with a little long haired Sausage dog or similar !!!

Ann I too have noticed some shelves lacking 'normal 'things in the supermarkets. It's ridiculous :-S :-S

I haven't tried my new lamp yet Mandy but I thi kit is going to make a big difference.Hopefully I won't need to squint any longer :-)

Thomas is being a pain .I know he needs a wee. This happens at the same time every night.Eventually he will go and use the litter tray.He just becomes very restless and a pest :-S

magpie Report 11 Dec 2015 22:23

We call it supper too Jane!! Lunch is middle day, breakfast is, well, breakfast! Dinner is a more formal evening meal. Well, that's how we look at it. You must be very grand Jane if you have dinner every day!!!!!!!
We're watching a DVD in bed! This TV is a great success!!
Cassie's party is only for doggie clients Ann, not sure if other clients are having one!!

I made up 4 rings today and delivered them to the shop and one to Erica so thats 5 down and more to go. I shall be wiring tomorrow so won't be around much.

Sorry to hear you have had another nasty spell Frank and hope you are better tomorrow. What a boy that Lewis of yours is pinching your dressing gown! He is certainly a busy boy with all the things he is into. Get him to show you how to copy and paste again as it will save you losing long posts if you do it after a while and then lose the lot you can just paste most of it back in the box for the reply.

Mandy hope you are all better soon and feeling mor elike your normal selves way before Christmas.

I hav'nt contacted the dentist yet but have had a little fiddle with them and just have to be careful when eating. They don't come right out my mouth!! just into it if you know what I mean.

Thanks to Jane for the lovely lovely card with all the robin's on and plenty of holly too and glitter. Love it and shall keep it to put up next year too. Why don't you get yourself a battery charger and some rechargable batteries to go in your lights. I have one and loads of batteries for use in my lights, mouse, candles that flicker and other things. Mine takes two kinds of batteries, the small ones and the AA and I have one that takes bigger batteries too which we bought for mujm who used to use them in her tape and CD player.

Gill hope your back to normal tomorrow. Have you seen your Rosie lately?

I am going to stop putting food out for the hog when this tin has gone. I have never fed one so late in the year before but oh says it is because it has been so mild. There is even holly berries left on the trees round here which have usually all been eten by the birds by now.

Not got my decks up yet either but my cards are and I have a little glass dome on a stand on the windowsill with seed lights in it that are on a timer so they come on for 6 hours and go off for 18 hours.

Well signing out now so see you all in the morning if I have time.

Well my breakfast usually consists of a pint of Tetley's tea, white, no sugar and two or three Rich Tea biscuits. It's seldom I have cereal in the morning. The last time I did I was in bed 9 ward 23 RVI. There they fed you cornflakes and if you were a good boy a bacon sarnie. Before breast at about 6am there was the opportunity to have a cup of tea or coffee. I remember asking the nurse if she had a bigger cup, she gave me 2 small ones. Lunch was something you had ordered the day before from a multiple choice form. Also there was another meal at about 5pm then that was it until the tea trolley came around about 9pm with a choice if biscuits,,,spoilt..nay..ruined
Much oh this was lost on you / me for the first couple of weeks while you were lying there immobile in agony drugged up to the eyeballs. :-S :-( :-P

I was going through one of my drawers in the filing cabinet and right at the back I found the blue round bulb that fits it so it will be back in action now. Mine is a lamp and mag glass.

Gillx

Gillx Report 12 Dec 2015 11:13

Morning all

Terrible weather here today, it's absolutely pouring down with rain, has been since we got up and it doesn't look as if it's going to stop any time soon :-(

I'm feeling much better today, no shivers for the first time in days, it was very strange as I'm still getting hot flushes too, so one minute I was hot the next freezing.

OH has just taken Sandra to the library in the car, it's far to wet for her to walk. So I'm about to hoover this place while there's no one here. I've changed the bedding and I'm going to have a nice bath once the hoovering is done, so there'll be more washing to do later. Good job I'm feeling up to all this work today. I've decided to do a roast Turkey breast for lunch for a change. I bought two the other week thinking it would only be Sandra and I here for Christmas dinner so I want to know if it tastes ok and is big enough for three then I wont have to buy a big Turkey and have loads left over. So quite a busy day for me today.

OH said he'll make the box I need for the village I made last year, but I'm not sure how he's going to do it in the rain, he'll have to work in the garage, hope it's not to cold for him. I did say to leave it, but he insists on doing it for me. So if he does it I can put the village up again with all the lights, which will look nice.

I will catch up with all the posts later. What is everyone else doing today?
