Meant to say Ann's fused glass is beautiful especially the fish on a dish and the person who told her to use two sheets of smaller glass certainly was lying when he said they would fuse together as you can see the join which is a real shame. Love the little snowman and other bits. I wonder why they put things in different parts of the kiln when they can see they are a pair. Bet it is just to spoil them as they are so good.
My pottery teacher did that to me at school. We had a Miss Hobday and she was very miserable and had no patients with pupils and she had goggle eyes too by she could'nt half draw without any effort once her pencil touched th e paper. Well she was off sick on on holiday and we had Mis Norberry instead. We all loved her becasue she was young modern and so with it in the way she dressed. We made coil pots and I really enjoyed making it. It went up and then in on a slant and then up again like a bottle. The neck was about an inch and a half tall I think and that was the end of the lesson where we put our pots on this big dresser type thing covered in a plastic bag. Next time we had a lesson I went to get my pot and it was'nt there. I asked Miss Hobday where it was and she told me it had gone mouldy so she threw it in the clay bin. When I told Miss Norberry she said it did'nt matter as the mould could have been wiped off. She was cross this hd happened and must have had a word with Miss Hobday because she never smiled at me after that ever again.

Afternoon from DOCTOR FRANK LOL My you women do have a hard life ! I remember Ros having her Flushes but never as bad as some being described on here.
Very true Liz, there were not the tests around years ago. My poor old Dad was just opened up, and sewn up again, as he was beyond help or surgery.
The page keeps jumping about. I have seen the previous postings four times now. How weird !!!
Dismal day here also, Almost dark, so all the table lights are on.
I was awake for the loo at 5.10 this morning. Got back to bed and was still awake at 7.30. but dropped off then. Ros bought me tea in bed, but when I woke at 10.00 it was stone cold.
Small loin of pork for "DINNER" tonight. Runners, Brussels, Cauli. Carrots, peas and Yorkshire pudding.
Harvey bought us a Garmin Sat Nav a few years ago. I found it completely USELESS. Sold it on ebay and bought a T.T. Which has never been any trouble. apart from when we went to get the mower. But that was more down to Road Works.
Nothing to report from this end, I trust you are all keeping warm against this horrible weather, and hope that snow soon clears your area David.
Mel, Do children still play "cats cradle" ??

Afternoon all,
Dreary old day here and it has just started to drizzle .
Hope Jane has managed to get to Hannah's with help from the new sat nav ,we still us a map if we need to go any where ,but then we don't seem to travel that far from home .
Son and family came this morning ,DIL nipped into boots and got me some cough medicine ,i seemed to be awake nearly every hour coughing last night ,it makes you feel so tired the next day.
I tried to teach the little ones the Cats Cradle but they are a bit young to get the hang of it .
I hope you can get some thing to help you from the docs this time Gill ,i must say i have been lucky really i had a few hot flushes but they were mostly at night nothing during the day , i don't like getting to hot ,we never have the heating on in the bedroom we always leave the bedroom doors open so the heat we have during the day just goes upstairs and that's enough to just take the chill of the bedroom.
Ann the fused glass things you made are lovely ,what a shame the join shows in the dish though , the coasters are nice too ,no one will notice the one with the bubbles if they are not next to each other , although i like the bubbles in it ,some paper weights ave bubbles in them don't they .

We found Garmin ok, but you had to pay £70 a throw for updates with the model we had, so we changed it for T.T. which does it for free!! It's never let us down, and with roadworks or any other obstacles it always re routes you without any problem. As I've previously said, it's a boon for me as I suffer from 'direction blindness'!! I wish they been around years ago when I was working in care, and had clients, and latterly meetings to go to both of which were usually in outlandish places!! Very dull day, but not too cold! How grand you are Frank, with Dinner!!!!!! (only teasing!) ;-)

Cheeky Liz. I can't see how a cooked dinner can be classed as TEA. Tea to me is a salad and meats with scones and jam etc. Lunch is a sarnie or bowl of soup Baked beans on toast etc.
Ros is in the front garden putting light on the guttering. We had said we wouldn't bother, but she said "We always do it, and it seems strange without them" So the lights are up and working.
I have never updated my TOM TOM. How do you do it Please ??? Do I need a special connection to the computer. ??
Still no rain, but Boy does it look horrible out there. I do hope the weather stays dry for those poor people in Cumbria.
I did say to Ros as we are going to be away from Boxing day for at least two weeks, that I wouldn't mind offering our home to a family who could have a break from all the heartache they are going through. Ros rightly pointed out, that they would need to be on hand up there for clearing up etc. But at least the thought is there. <3 <3
I think I will put the meat on and have dinner a bit early, as I didn't have breakfast and am feeling peckish. :-D :-D :-D

We're having a COT and a bicky! a hangover from afternoon tea?!! We shall have scrambled egg for supper! each to his own!!

Hello Everyone
We had dinner at 1.30 today as my granddaughters usually go home about 5 and we have a late tea later , I did roast beef , roast potatoes, Yorkshires, cauliflower cheese, carrots , roast parsnips and peas.
I hope you enjoyed your day with Hannah, Jane and arrived without any problems or arguments, we often went the wrong way using a map as Peter always questioned my map reading skills, I remember him ignoring me once and we ended up in the middle of Glasgow towing a caravan in the one way system
It's been dry here today but looks like it could be a bit foggy in parts.
David you should take the test while its been offered to you, I wouldn't be here today but for the mammograms. My youngest brother in law died from bowel cancer when he was 28 had he lived he would be nearly 70 now but there weren't any test available then or radiotherapy and Chemo.
Ann you are clever making things with glass, when I retired from the Arts Centre the stained glass tutor made me a window hanging, the main part being dragon flies it is very pretty.
The girls are getting ready to go now so I must make a move.

Afternoon All,
What a dreary day it is! I hope you get to Hannah's without too much 'man' stress Jane!! lol. I see you have bought Chris one of those trapper/deerstalker type hats like I got OH last winter and he has now bought for me in a mushroom coloured fur a few weeks ago!! His main footie pal who is only in his 30s had a chuckle when he first saw OH in his last year..........but guess who has asked for one from Santa this year!! They are brilliant when it's really cold, especially with a biting wind.
Yes, men have no idea what us ladies go through Frank. What sent me to the doctors as well though was spending £32 one month on 'female' protection!! I was changing all the time, even with protection doubled up for up to 21 days in some months. Meetings at work, doing post room duty when the doors would be locked for a couple of hours and visiting employers was hell as I would need to change every 20 minutes some days. I remember being on detached duty and a young male colleague berating me in front of everyone for being lazy and not walking to some appointments that he considered well within walking distance. Of course walking would make things far worse for me and now I wish I'd given him very graphic detail of what would have happened if I had. ;-) At the time I was just embarrassed and struggling to cope. It was touch and go that I would make the 18 mile drive to the office some days as there were no toilets on the way and it was very painful to even dip the clutch sometimes. At night I was sleeping on old towels. I was living on my own then but never took any time off work though. Once I had been referred to the menopause clinic in the city and had fibroids lasered and went on HRT it reduced that problem too and also the pain which went with it which meant I could concentrate at work again. Fair play to OH he came to all the information talks I went to at the menopause clinic as he thought he should know about these things to understand the problems his own female members of staff might have at times.
David, Liz is right, the tests pick things up before you get any symptoms. Once you get symptoms things are usually advanced and not so easy to cure. MIL just took remedies from the chemist at first instead of seeing the doctor to get checked out in the beginning. She also didn't get all the usual symptoms.
As you know, I am also directionally challenged Liz and I saw something I thought very true in the paper today. It was referring to the difference in men's and women's brains and said that women are better at finding things within a house, but men are better at finding the house!! :-) lol.
Oh that sounds like a horrid cough Mandy, the tickly ones are the worst and can drive you mad, especially at night.
We were at MIL's house earlier so decided to have a Christmas Turkey lunch at Morrisons nearby. It was very nice too with all the trimmings, brussels and carrots, mash and roasts. OH had bread and butter pudding with custard to follow and I had the spiced apple crumble with custard. With our drinks it was £13 for the 2 lunches and we couldn't have eaten another thing. :-)

It's been pouring with rain here all day, should imagine it will be just as bad if not worse further up the country. It looks like Scotland have snow. Hope Fiona is ok and not to cold. I'm quite enjoying the cooler weather and Sandra keeps commenting on how hot my face is, if only she knew ;-) ;-) I've found that OH keeps hugging me more now, I think he's using me as a radiator with him being cold coming in from work LOL
The village is made up of shop bought items Mel, my mum bought me a few light coloured wood houses for my birthday last year that have a white light in them and I bought a few more, plus a Church, also with a white light in it. I also bought some little people and a bench with a couple sitting on, plus Victorian style outside lamps and some trees. Then for a bit of fun I added Santa on a sleigh and a few reindeer. To top it all off I lit it up with coloured fairy light, the old fashioned glass ones not the LED ones as they didn't give off the right light. It's looked lovely and I was hoping to do it again this year, which is why I need the box as I don't have the void of the welsh dresser to put it in this year, I need a box to attach the lights to, as they shine down from the top. The way the weather is I can't see OH building the box for me tomorrow as it's far to wet and we have large puddles on our patio again with all the rain.......I'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings. He might need some waders to get to the garage from the back door lol.
I've sorted my family tree out, it didn't take me long. The female relative I had never got married in the end, so all I had to do was take away the husband and children I had for her, as they belonged to another family with the same name. I checked the electoral roll and there was my female relative living with her unmarried sister in 2002/2003. Her sister passed away in 2004 and she passed away in 2005, so that part of my family tree is now complete and I can move onto someone else now ;-)
It was quite an easy mistake to make with the female relative and her father having the exact same name, including middle initial as my female relative and father, so if it wasn't for me being in contact with the lady who's been emailing me I would never of known I'd made a mistake, as there was only one person who was different....the female relative's mother.
Sandra and I have been watching a few more Christmas films this afternoon, she's waiting for me to finish this post so we can watch another one before the results of Strictly come on, so I'd better go.
Hope Jane had a nice time at Hannah's and of course got there ok ;-) ;-) BBL <3

Ann, although it chokes me to admit it, the saying you quoted, does seem to be true, from what friends have told me. I have not repeated this to OH, the smug look on his face and irritating comment would be more than I could cope with!!!!!! It is Christmas after all, and all should be harmony!!! Cas has a passion for that ring you sent her Mel, and carries it everywhere with her!! Bit like a baby with a dummy!!!!

I had to laugh at your comment on how women can find things in the house and men can find the house, how true that is......I'm still giggling :-D :-D :-D
It sounds like you had a right time of it Ann, I've not been that bad, which I'm very grateful for, what I have gone through and still going through it enough to cope with at the moment. I'm expecting it to get worse before it's gets better though.
I love your glass, you are right though you can see the line between the two pieces of glass, but it really isn't bad and still looks lovely. Sandra loves your snowman, surprise surprise lol. You're very clever ;-)
So Cas has a new toy Liz, it sounds like she's really having fun with it :-)
Hope your cough clears soon Mandy, there's nothing worse, especially at night :-(
It's finally stopped raining here but the garden is so water logged. I've just seen the weather forecast for the next 5 days on Countryfile and it's suppose to be dry tomorrow, I hope the forecast it right then OH can make the box I need for my village. He would of made it the other day but with being so busy it got to dark for him to do it later in the day.
Strictly's just started so I'll get off and watch it. I'm hoping Anton makes it to the final next week, this is the furthest he's ever got and looks chuffed to bits....bless him <3

I'm glad you liked the glass. Being as we got what we paid refunded for the class I might go to the next one they have now. I know my friend wants to go to another. I thought Sandra would like the snowman. :-)
Yes Gill, that's another thing......hugging isn't so great when you are boiling! lol. We often hold hands when we are out but all that had to stop when I was having flushes!! I think I was one of the unlucky ones and hopefully you won't have them so long. It's good your tree is back in order now. I had a mix up once in OH's tree like that. I only discovered that the wife I had for a rellie was wrong when I found her on a gravestone buried with someone else!! :-S
That's something else I've always wanted to try Anne.......stained glass!! I've watched programmes on making it and I've even looked at holiday breaks doing it. Your dragonflies sound pretty and I was thinking of doing a dish with dragonflies, but did the fish instead as my friend decided to do dragonflies on her dish. That was a very young age for your BIL to get bowel cancer. How sad that must have been for everyone when that happened.
Mel, I can remember making a clay bowl at school with clay rolled like a rope. I think I also made a Cobra with some. I did a dish we pressed into an oval mould too and that was painted with patterns in slip inside. I kept that for many years till first OH dropped it! :-S What a shame your pot got thrown out because of mould that could be wiped off. You'd have thought that teacher would have known. That Sparrowhawk is just waiting his chance isn't he? I had one hang about at my previous house. It would sit in a tree above the bird table and at times nextdoor's cat would be lying on the bird table fast asleep. The poor birds have a hard time of it.
OH mentioned a memory this morning that I'd forgotten. Remember when people would point a forefinger at their temple and twist it to indicate they thought someone had a screw loose? No-one does that anymore.

Your welcome Ann, I know some of you watch Strictly and I didn't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.
I don't mind OH hugging me when he gets in from work as he's like a block of ice so I benefit from it as much as he does robbing my heat LOL. If he's hot himself I don't hug so much as that just makes me worse. Most of the time he is cold anyway so it's nice.
Off to bed now so I'll say goodnight. See you all tomorrow

Morning all
Dry here today, so the weather man was right. Still cold though.
OH is in the garage looking for some wood to make the box I need for my village. I hope he finds some as we had a good sort out a few months ago and got rid of a lot of the wood he had.
He's just said he's found some, so I'll go and take a look at what he's found.
What's everyone else up to today?

Morning all and evening Kim,
Dull wet and dreary here this morning. Well thats about all the news I have to share with you apart from I did a load of presents up last night after wiring in the shed in the morning and afternoon getting one ring done and two more nearly there just 6 small bows floers and cones to put in them and price them up.
When I went dow n the shop yesterday for all that he so wanted them before the weekend not one had sold. I always think next weekend is the best for sales of the rings once people have their trees up and running as it were and other decs. They do put lots of flowers etc on graves down here. I was surprised how long this goes on for when we first moved down in 1991.

The wood he found wasn't suitable, but then I remembered we have an old fire surround we took down when we were changing the rooms around, so he's trying to find that, luckily it was a flat pack one so should go back together quite easily with a few adjustments here and there on the height.
As far as I remember it was a similar size to the surround we have now, so it should be perfect, providing I'm right and we haven't thrown it away or lost it at the back of the garage somewhere LOL I'm hoping to put the village on top of the fireplace as there are sockets nearby so I can plug the lights in without to much fuss.
Rosie has just turned up for some nuts, I haven't seen her for a while. She's quite plump, so I think she's had some food off the other neighbours too :-D
OH's taking a while, hope we still have the fire surround otherwise he won't be able to make the box, as we have no other wood we can use :-( Spoke to soon, he's just turned up with it, I'm so pleased, now I can sort out my village. Hope it works :-S
See you all later <3
