LOL Mel, I did chuckle.....you might as well chuck his peas or beans there to start with!! :-) I like the sound of your posies you are doing.

So it's a CT scan you will be having Jane, that's the noisy one isn't it? It's good the 2 doctors were of the same opinion. :-) Fitz's tree and living room look really good as usual and I love all the greenery.

Yes the drains do join further along as you say David! :-S Not the sharpest knife in the box was another of those sayings.

That was a lovely lunch Mandy. I love Eton Mess and I know OH would have gone straight for the bread and butter pudding. He always has his with custard which used to seem odd to me as we always had it as it was as children.

What a rude man Gill and fancy him thinking you would be leaving a shower curtain anyway!! Most people would want their own. It sounds like his poor wife didn't get a say in anything but it's good she praised your tree. Is the village done now?

I hope Conrad gets his passport in time Frank, at least it's not the week after when the Christmas post will be slowing things down. What a shame about the necklace, someone will be very pleased to have found it though. The road's getting covered with mud already Frank. Next it will be all up our drives from our car wheels. Two big concrete mixers at 8.00am this morning didn't help!!

We had a young man call here once a long time ago with a suitcase of dish clothes, dusters and tea towels etc J clothes too I think and he had had a long walk down to our door as Ann and Jane will know. Mum usually bought something from people like this. When I was young it was the gipsies who knocked on the door with primrose baskets made from the hedgerows with a primrose planted in them. Mum would buy me one of those. I loved them and have even made them whilst down here when oh and I were first together. The new couple who moved in next door but one made these baskets too and had them for sale at the dog show where he had a stall.

The gipsies would also sell good large pegs, Frank knows about these. Sometimes they came with wood flowers that looked like chysants and had been dyed in pinks and yellows. they must have taken them ages to make and all the petals were sort of curled.

Hope the scan will be ok Jane.

Gillx Report 16 Dec 2015 22:23

So your OH's wear their meals too then, just like my OH.......men ;-) ;-) ;-)

Yes Ann the village is finished, I couldn't put the tinsel on in the end, it stuck in place but didn't look very good, so I decided to take it down. I'm hoping to take a photo and email to everyone, if I can remember how to do it.

The doctor sounded nice Jane, at least you know what the problem is now. Good luck with the scan.
Yes the man was very rude, it left me wondering if he would of acted like that had my OH been here, he was in work, so it was just Sandra and I when the couple arrived. I got the feeling the man didn't have a very high opinion of women with him practically ignoring me. It was very embarrassing to say the least :-|

There is some good news though, OH came in from work tonight and said he has passed his NVQ. We have been celebrating and I'm a bit light headed now LOL, so the day ended great in the end. I'm so proud of him.

We're going to see OH's mum tomorrow, then some more shopping in Ellesmere Port, so I'm not sure what time I'll be online.
Signing out now, see you all tomorrow
Night Night

LATE LATE LATE., but I thought I would pop in.

Conrad's Passport has been LOST IN TRANSIT. He is off to the British Embassy tomorrow to get a temporary one. That will be some experience.

Sorry you had time wasters today Gill. You win some and loose some.

The old "TALLY MAN" was in every area of London just after the war. Everybody needed clothing and shoes, and they supplied a service. No doubt they were all over the Country. It was the same with the Co-op. A suit when I was 15 cost £10.00 hand made, that cost ten bob a week for twenty weeks. Every year Mum would get her dividend paid out. My god if you forgot to give her Co-op No. 655127 each time she sent you to the shop. It was awarded with a smack around the head.
All the Furniture was "UTILITY" made and had a stamp on the frame work. Of course everything was on ration and you had to use your cuepons. (sp)

I'm off to bed now, sleep tight, see you in the morning.

Congrats to Glyn on passing his NVQ and that was a very nice end to your day Gill. You must be very proud of him. <3

My first hubbies dad was a tally man.

See you in the morning.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Another dodgy night last night. After 1.30 when I dropped off, was looking at the clock again at 5.00 am. Was up at 6.00 I have had 3 COT and am now considering Eggs and bacon and Bubble and Squeak (cabbage and potato over) Will have that as "brunch"

Well done to your OH Gill passing his NVQ, will it mean more money ??

I haven't seen your post Jane about your scan. Will have to go back on the posts.

Am I early or is it a certain ANNE'S Birthday today, if not tomorrow. Have a wonderful day ANNE today, even though it might not be your birthday.

They say we have to watch out for the Sahara Sand, they say it can be dangerous to ASTMA sufferers. So if any of you are TAKE CARE. They say the South and East will be worse AFFECTED.

Ros left a message for Conrad last night "Do not leave Alicante unless you have a replacement Passport" I would think he is there by now.

Still in dressing gown as usual, going to get showered and shaved NOW.

Hope everyone is germ free, and have a good day.

Anne

Anne Report 17 Dec 2015 12:16

Good Morning Everyone

Thank you for your good wishes Frank, it was actually my birthday yesterday. Because both my sons were working it was a quiet day, Paul came for dinner so there were just the 3 of us, they had lamb shanks plus a lot of veg for me, they both gave me Amazon vouchers so I could choose what I wanted, Mark sent me a Boots voucher. I had a lot of cards which I really prefer to presents these days. Richard also gave me a large Poinsetta [sp]

Just come back from my non fasting blood test and Amanda didn't have any trouble this time probably because I drunk a lot of water before going to the surgery,

Good luck with your scan Jane, I got the sight disturbance migraines when I was a lot younger than you are now, so hopefully all will be OK

Gill congratulations to your OH for passing his exam it will look good on his CV and it sounds as though it was well deserved..Sorry to hear you had a time waster viewing your home, he sounds like a really ill mannered creep,

I didn't get to read all the posts yesterday so hopefully will have time later, I had one of those days which reminded me of the song "Busy Doing Nothing"

Frank Report 17 Dec 2015 12:41

Sorry Anne I thought it was today (it's my age) Also sorry to Jane. I had read your post regarding the CT scan. Hope it goes alright. Do you know when ??

When I had all those Garages fall on me in the 80s I had to go to the Facial Maximo Dept. After the X ray. He said good news Mr Bedford we have found your Brain. I am wondering if it's got lost again,!!!! as I am always forgetting where things are.

I have been looking for the Passports this morning. I am wondering if Madam has got them out already and put them somewhere safe !!! I bet she won't know where she has put them :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-)

I think I will be booking Parking at the airport. It's ONLY £40.00 for long stay. I wouldn't expect anybody to take and bring us back for that money.

Madam has gone out delivering presents, then onto Tesco to get her things for a stir fry for tonight, so a night off for me.

I have TWO HAMS to get ready for Christmas. How long do you think I should
de -freeze them for ?? They are quite big so I expect some time. Then they will be boiled and skinned, then baked in Honey and Marmalade Glaze, with cloves.

The joint for Sunday is going to need 3 hours cooking, so I will have to use the top oven to do all the roasted vegetables I have a three tiered steamer which I will use for the other veg, save a lot of saucepans being used. It only comes out when we have company.

A nothing sort of day here. Could get rain later by the look of it.

Had a nice hot shower and shave, all dressed with nowhere to go !! I didn't have my fry up. I will get a tin of soup instead. Will do me more good, but not as tasty LOL

Frank

Frank Report 17 Dec 2015 14:32

Oh yes you can David, I had the same trouble a few years ago. I do like the name MR. BUNGEE. I'm still smiling.

DON'T PANIC Mr Bedford. The passports are where we put them after our last trip aboard, to see Conrad.

I have booked the Airport Parking £39.99 for a week. Full written details of how to get there enclosed with the booking confirmation.

Have found who didn't put a stamp on my Christmas Card. That cost me £2.00 to receive the card. I will mention no names, but it was one of you lot :-D :-D :-D :-D

Ros has bought a stork of Brussels for the weekend. They look so fresh. I have put them in the garage until needed.

Ready for a bit of Nat. Geo. for a couple of hours. I must get my book out and find a story I would like to read. I do find that after the first few pages, I will or not get into it.

As to your books Frank I am the smae with my talking books. Some you just can't wait to hear what happens next and others you find yourself not listening to a load of drivel. Now thats a word I hav'nt heard for a while, I wonder where that came from in the deep recesses of my muddled mind.............. ;-)

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES TO YOU ANNE. <3 <3 <3

I did'nt know it was your birthday yesterday...............

Jane Report 17 Dec 2015 15:49

Oh Frank I do hope it wasn't me. :-S....£2 is a lot to have to fork out.I thought it was just over £1.(must have gone up)
You are going to be a busy chappy in the kitchen with all this meat to cook !!!!.I nrver know how long to defrost big joints.Better to be longer time than less.

I hope Conrad has managed t oget his passport. What a worry that was for him.
Don't touch your passports!!!!!!!!! Just leave them where they are :-D :-D

Anne ,I am sorry I missed your Birthday.I hadn't realised. So belated Birthday wishes to you <3

Crikey David that was quite a phone call !!..Sounds like that would have made a good sitcom :-D :-D

I don't know when my scan will be Frank. After Christmas I guess.

Congrats to your OH Gill on passing his exams :-D :-D :-D..Will he have any more to do?

It has just started to rain here :-S and seems to be getting darker by the second.

Frank

Frank Report 17 Dec 2015 16:05

Yes Jane peeing of rain here as well and almost dark. Lets look forward to next Tuesday. Shortest day of the year, then the only way is up !!! I hope not up to our waists in SNOW. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jan phoned, she has heard from Conrad and he has got the temporary Passport. It took most of the day. He will fly home on Saturday as previously arranged.

Our passports are in my bedside cabinet. So will stay there until we pack and I will then put them in the pocket of the case with Parking Pass Airline confirmations and Boarding Passes when I print them off. I must get Ros to get some Euro's Not sure if we still have some. I think we gave them to Lewis, but will check.

No Jane it wasn't you who missed the stamp. Please don't all ask as I won't tell who it was. I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone. :-D :-D :-D

The fridge is full of stuff for Sunday. Gawd knows who she thinks she is feeding, there is only five of us. If anybody needs a meal, there will be plenty to go round, and we have room round the table. ;-) ;-) Don't all rush at once, I won't be able to cope. :-P :-P

Jane Report 17 Dec 2015 16:54

Frank,Hannah was telling us on Sunday that there is an app for moblie phones for the area she lives in.Anyone who has food that they won't be using, rather than throw it away they give it away.So you can look on this app to see what is going and then just go and collect it for free.I think it is brilliant idea :-D :-D.So nothing goes to waste.I haven't heard of this before but she says it it quite common for London.

I do wish it wasn't so mild.We have daff, crocus shoots and even a couple of Snowdrops in flower !!!!..It isn't right.Chris said he might even mow the lawn on Saturday !!!!!!!.
People going around in sleepless tops and even shorts and sandals. What has happened to our 4 seasons???.It doesn't feel at all Christmasy does it.
I just hope Christmas day is nice and cold and crisp.Even a little snow would be nice

I went to Waitrose this morning and got a Ham ,Pigs in Blankets ,Stuffings,Continental Meats, and Olives and a few other bits and bobs.
I bought a Rolled Brisket (precooked) and just needing 40 mins in the oven.So that is in now.I am trying a different kind of Roast Pototo to go with it.Maris Pipers cut fairly small ,with garlic cloves and lemon quarters and some sprigs of Thyme and just a couple of Tablespoons of Olive Oil.I always use Crisp and Dry to do my roast pots.
Roast Carrots and leeks ,a Yorkshire Pud each and Broccoli..James will come in from work thinking he is having a feast lol.
Chris and I are going out somewhere for lunch tomorrow. It might be Snooty Fox for their lovely F&Cs.But I think it might be best to ring up first as everyone is having 'works christmas lunches' and I dont want to get there and find they are fully booked.

My Sister has had her last day at work today.....She is now officially retired :-D.I wonder how she feels.Life will be very different now.I know that William will still be going to hers 3 days a week as he only has Nursery on Tuesdays and Thursdays .But at least she won't have the burden of all the stress piled on her by the NHS any longer.

Oh I say ,things are smelling good here :-D.I have those potatoes in now (meat done)

Thomas is in which is not good as he should be out at this time. But the rain has driven him in.If it stops I will put him out again.

Bit of a stressful day . Our appointment was for 11.30 and was an hour late, so OH only had a cursory examination.as the department closed at 1pm What with that and having to queue for the car park, we didn't get home till after 3 o'clock! Luckily they had a cancellation and OH now has another appointment for Monday at 10pm for a full colonoscopy! We hope!! Cas was such a good girl as she had to wait in the car all that time. I did let her out once but other than that she had a bit of a thin morning. Son rang, he is such a good chap. It's his birthday on Tuesday and he's coming to have supper with us, on his own which we're really looking forward to. Having him and his partner is lovely, but we rarely see him on his own, so it's a real treat when we do.
Fish for supper, nice and light and digestible!
