Frank Report 30 Dec 2015 14:51

Here I am !!

Not sure when we are coming home Jane. I would think Mon or Tues.As we arew away again on Friday.

Yes the stairs are a problem, even though there are toilets and showers both up and down stairs. I still try to get up and down without having someone to get me anything I may want. It was Conrads house at Edith Weston that I fell down.

I could only do part of the walk yesterday as they stopped for a coffee on the sea front which had two flights of steps to get up and down. They then continued to the pier which was just to far for me, so I came back.. The have gone into town this afternoon, I have stayed home to rest my legs.

Jo, Jan's daughter who has her waxing business in the annex of the house has been booked solid for yesterday and today. Taking over £500.00 yesterday and today won't be finished till 5.30 pm. So she has a really good business going on. Most clients are repete every 4 or 5 weeks. So she is doing very well, and helps Jan and Conrad with the expence of renovating this property.

Glad to hear everybody are having guests for new yeat, and that Jane's two have reCHED THEIR DESTINATIONS. (sorry)

Liz Cas will be blown away in the wind I suppose my name will be MUD while this storm continues.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Gill if it will be of any help, You would be welcome to Ros's Machine, which as I say is in perfect working order. and will do far more than the BASIC MACHINE. I would be happy to arrange for delivery, and you can pay me over a few months if it will help. Give me a PM if you are interested.
S
Ros is now saying she might be interested in a rescue dog if it is a "BUESEON FREISS) Can't spell this.So I might be lookung at the PDSA to see what's around.

The weather down here is terrible, high winds (FRANK) and plenty of wet stuff.

COT time as I am on my own. Jo has a client,

BBL.

They're back Mel!! Peace is at an end!!! You'd think Cas had just won a championship, and that OH had invented shooting!! Oh well! I must try and be patient!! They are going once a week till the end of the month and then that's it till next autumn, so I'd better make the most of it!!! Merlin was very pleased to come in tonight, it's so wet and gloomy, he was waiting at the gate poor old boy!!

Frank

Frank Report 30 Dec 2015 16:36

So pleased Cassie wnjoyed her day. I can understand Merlin wanting to get in !!! I wouldn' want to be out in this weather.

Conrad,Jan,Ros and Ella are still out. They are out again this evening with Jo. They are going to see "STAR WARS" I think it starts just after 7.00 pm, and they need to eat first, So they had better not be too late home.

I have been looking around the DOGGY SITES, but nothing that Ros would be interested in. Loads of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and large dogs.(POOR THINGS) These people who get these dogs and get fed up with them, and dispose of them to the rescue homes. How does the saving go "A DOG IS FOR LIFE -------"

Still very windy and wet here. Hows things where you are. ???

Jane

Jane Report 30 Dec 2015 16:46

I could keep her in business Frank with my legs :-S..Sounds like she has got herself s good thing going there.
Yes Hannah is at her destination bvut James and Jess have only just this minute left here. They have a taxi booked for 3.30 in the morning to take them to St Pancras. They will need to make sure they give themselves plenty of time because of all the extra security rigmarole .

Pat it sounds like you have a rogue tumble drier .I would insist on a replacement .Yours obviously isn't fit for purpose .

Frank there will one one very lucky doggy to get a nice home with you if you decide on a rescue one :-D :-D.I can't bare to go around these shelters as I get too upset seeing all the hopeful little faces :-(
I can hear the rain coming down now.It has just started. It's chucking it down.Thomas only went out a little while ago so must be taking shelter now somewhere.
Poor old Chris left here at 1 to go to the Cinema in Northampton .But couldn't find anywhere at all to park !!!!.So he had to come home.(Not a happy Bunny :-S)
I think the fact that the Panto was on too had something to do with it.He went and had a lie down when he got in.I think his bad shoulder was playing up too .

Gill I hope Michelle and Boyfriend feel well enough to celebrate New Year tomorrow.Have they plans to do anything?..We will just be us two .I do like to try and stay up to hear Big Ben and see the celebrations on TV.Chris normally fades before then.So it will probably be me and Thomas raising a glass to see the New Year in.
My Mum and Dad always had a fantastic party on New Years Eve,with lots of friends and half the village popping in.Mum worked her socks off preparing all sorts of food. She did a cracking job.It would have been their 65th Wedding Anniversary today.
I miss them both terribly :-(

I see I need to replace the batteries in some of my Christmas Lights. They are looking very dull.
Our TV needs seeing to.There is a problem with the sound and colour. Not good as we have only had it just over a year.So that it is top of the list once New Year is over.

Liz does Cas love the wind? Chester did when we were out for a walk.I loved to see his ears blowing LOL.The Horses in the field opposite were galloping up and down this morning with the wind up their tails.
Not much dinner wise for us tonight.Ready meals are the order of the day.Mac Cheese for me and a Cottage Pie for Chris.

Does anyone know what number I can ring to report a fault on someones telephone line? It will be a BT number.I have looked on line ,but I just want a number to ring and actually speak to someone rather than the complicated performance doing it on line :-S.I have been trying to call a friend for 2 days now and I just get a message saying fault on the line.I am not sure she realises she has a problem.

Mel what is it like down there now?.I saw Plymouth being battered earlier.I have to say I don't envy James the drive down to Kent right now.Luckily he is driving away from the bad weather but the first part of his journey is not going to be pleasant.

You could also use the phone as an alarm.

Think it was star, key in time, gate

magpie Report 30 Dec 2015 17:38

Oh Jane, you made me feel so sad when you said how you missed your parents. I do too, particularly remembering all the good times we had. Even after all these years I'd give anything to see them coming up our driveway.
I'm not sure if Cas likes the wind or not!! She's not that keen on rain and tries to keep under cover as much as she can, even crawling along under hedges if she can!!! I know what you mean about going to a rescue centre!!!
Frank have you thought of a Westie? They're super little dogs and suitable for more mature people!!!!! I used to have a client who had one, and she was a dear little dog and so good, not too much exercise needed, and generally fitted the bill.
Not sure that we shall make the New Year, at one time we would've dreamt of not staying up, but these days?!!!!

magpie

magpie Report 30 Dec 2015 18:17

Think you ring 151 Jane, to report a fault on another domestic phone. 152 is for reporting faults on a business line. I'm pretty sure this is right!!!

David

David Report 30 Dec 2015 19:12

Magpie and Jane, my parents have been gone 25 and 22 years respectively and my Aunt May's been gone 19 years, yet I still miss them a lot.
My current avatar is my Father, maybe next week I will put Mother up <3

magpie Report 30 Dec 2015 19:20

My mother died.30 years ago next June (1986) and my Stepfather died 8 months later in 1987, so it's a very long time ago now. My natural father died 73 years ago in Dec 1942! That's a lifetime ago!!

Evening All,

Have you tried this number Jane? 0800 800 151 I think it's what you use to notify a problem with another phone. It's good Hannah has arrived at her destination. I wish I had the enthusiasm and nerve to travel like that. I haven't even made a start on my puzzle yet and we've only had one game of scrabble up to now.

I see Frank seems to have moved on from here as the wind has dropped, it's just rain here now. We had a whole panel of next door's fence down over our shrubs this morning. OH was going to be neighbourly and put it back for her, but when he's done that in the past, she hasn't even realised there was a problem and it just kept falling on our plants so he's left it propped up on her side. When he eventually did that last time she got her children to fix it better with more wood to hold it rigid.

If you google 'Bichon Frise Rescue' Frank it shows some sites with dogs needing homes. Some tell you a bit about the breed too which is interesting as they don't look the easiest breed and are high maintenance too. Wouldn't a clever little white toy poodle suit Ros? She knows what to expect with one of those. I hope your legs are still managing the stairs. I know just what you mean as I struggle with more than a few steps, especially if they are steep too. Has Lewis been juicing yet and trying them out on you? lol.

Liz, I had a chuckle at your post too as it's just the same here at times. I retreat to the study to do paperwork or something else and he's in and out like a fiddler's elbow, creating a draught and asking advice or where things he wants are that he really should know himself, but then, as I say to him, why use his brain when mine's available! :-S Then, as you say, it's 'come and look at this I've done' or 'what's the weather forecast', yet he's watched it with me a few hours before!! lol. I like watching the Royal Institution Lectures and the one on 'surviving in space' the other night was really interesting, but I told him he'd get a 'red card' for talking in that so he behaved himself!!

Mel, I think Sandra would get hours of pleasure making the little felt people too, and then a little garden or home in a box for them. What a good idea! :-) Did you watch the Hedgehog prog? I've recorded it to watch later.

No need to apologise David, we all have our moments of odd thoughts that occur to us, well I know I do. :-)

How disappointing about your tumble dryer Pat. As others say, a bit more pressure at the retailer should hopefully do the trick.

I noticed today that next door have already taken their lit Christmas trees down, two in the conservatory, and one in their new summerhouse.

Gill, I wouldn't worry and treat the sewing machine as a gift for both of you as you won't be using it to make things just for you. Years ago, if given money by my in laws we would often get something for the house. My parents didn't celebrate anniversaries so there was never even a card from them. I hope Michelle and her boyfriend are well enough to enjoy the New Year festivities. I'm usually in bed, but don't sleep as I know the fireworks will wake me. My father was too strict for me to be allowed out on New Year's Eve, so it was always low key and just watch the telly. I think I missed out on an awful lot then.

Did anyone watch the first of the 2 part series about Christmas Past in the 40s, 50s an 60s? It made me realise it wasn't unusual to have homemade presents in the 40s and 50s .I can remember a hand knitted doll from my grandma and a doll's house with 4 rooms and real lights that dad made one Christmas. I don't think my brother or sister had anything hand made from my parents as they were born many years later, but I did knit a set of doll's clothes for a doll for my sister one year and first OH and I made 2 sledges for my brother and sister another year.

We've had another lazy day today. We just can't seem to get up early!

Thanks Liz and David.....Tried ringing and it is a blooming nightmare with all automated speak telling you to press this number or that to report the fault.I GAVE UP
:-S....At least I can say I have tried :-D

Liz I nearly became a bit weepy posting about Mum and Dad.It is just this time of year when all the memories come flooding back.Christmas and especially New Year were good fun times :-D

David I think Veet is still a good seller .I see it on the shelves .Remember Mum using that.
It is still pouring here.Cat in now :-D So I can shut and lock the back door.No going out again :-)

I'm home alone, even the dog has gone upstairs, he barks now and then and Icall out to shut him up.

We will sit and have a chat about a dog in the New Year. It was only mentioned as Jo said if anytime we couldn't cope she would take it off our hands.

Yes this time of year makes you think of your Parents. Especially my Dad, It was 57 years ago when I had him home for his last Christmas, which was his dying wish. He went back into hostpital early January 1958 and died 3oth January. Mother lasted to June 1980. But I am afrain not missed as much as my DAD.

Jane, At the prices Jo charges, you would need a bank loan for treatment. The dor bell hasn't stopped ringing roday, one after the other. She has even started doing Massages.

Even with Sky Movies there is nothing worth watching on T.V, so I m watching Eden.

Very difficult to see as I only have a table light on the otherside of the room. I hav the Laptop on my knees.

See you in the morning.

Sorry story about your spin dryer Pat, obviously wasn't what the name says. Wouldn't they do a swap one in one out?
Local launderettes are good at such times, huge driers, I've used them

Still dark at 7.30 probably going to be a rainy day.
I've been awake since about 2am couldn't get back to sleep.
Getting a thick head now. When people are waking up I'll be having 40 winks.

All things considered, it hasn't been a bad year. Too many if's buts and maybes maybe but that's just my opinion. (My ifs buts and maybes)

Thank you all for being my online friends, you've made the last couple of years a lot more tolerable than it might have been.

Be good to one another and have a nice day.
