I still have flowers out and had roses on the top wall before Christmas but hav'nt looked up there lately. We have two daffs flowering in the orchard and a few snowdrops are out but not the main lot yet. I shall have a look tomorrow and see what else is flowering still.

Oh dear Frank...it sounds like you have had long enough dow nthere now.You will soon be home again (hopefully with dry trousers ;-) )
It will be nice to be back on home ground again even just for a day or so before you are off again.

Ann ,what a pretty necklace..it isn't too blingy.It looks very 'classy' :-D

I am in bed now .Have had to go into the spare one as Chris is in pain with his shoulder.Best to leave him as he could be up and down with it.

See you all in the morning briefly.I have just peeled the potatoes and done the Sprouts,Carrots and Parsnips. Also set the table .So that is a few jobs out the way now.

Good Late Evening Everyone

Both Paul and Richard are out but not together, so I.'m having a quiet evening with just the pets for company although Amy has taken herself up to bed after a last trip to the back garden.

My home looks a real mess as well, Paul has spread his stuff every where but its not worth the effort of tidying up until he goes home which maybe tomorrow, his bedroom is no better.

Have a good trip tomorrow Frank and enjoy the journey, you will be able to relax when you are home as they say " there is no place like home" <3 <3 .

I also have a couple rose bushes still out both red,two geraniums and some purple daisies.

Just about to watch Q.I

I has been raining hard here most of the day so hoping for a better day tomorrow

Morning all and evening Kim,

Just the usual here dull, gloomy and wet.

Ann the necklace is lovely. Was it heavy to wear? I bet it took some time to make with all those tiny beads.

Hav'nt done anymore to my Wee Folk but I shall be glad to get the right size beads for their heads as the ones I have just popped on are a bit big as they are not round but sort of oblongy oval.......and I need some small ones for their hands.

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2016 10:14

Morning all

It's nice to be back on here, I hurt my wrist the night before last so wasn't able to get online yesterday. It's ok today, so nothing broken. It's my own fault, I pushed down on my hand as I was getting up from the sofa and twisted it between the two seat cushions. It was around midnight and poor OH thought I'd broken it as it made such a noise, luckily that wasn't the case so I just took some painkillers and went to bed. Neither of us fancied a trip to A&E that late on a Friday night.

I was hoping to have a go on my sewing machine yesterday, but needless to say that didn't happen with my wrist being out of action. Sandra has got today all planned out, watching lots of Christmas films I've recorded and eating chocolate, we've still got so much from Christmas so it's a bit like a sweet shop here, much to Sandra's delight, so if I try using my sewing machine today Sandra won't be able to hear the TV, so I think I'll wait a few days until all the films I've recorded have been watched.

I love the pic of your necklace Ann, you are so clever, it must of taken you ages to make. How do you make the snowflake shape, do you use wire to thread the beads onto?

Oh dear Frank, you're not having such a good time of it lately. Never mind you'll soon be home, let's hope Tenerife is a better holiday for you. It'll definitely be warmer, if nothing else.

Thanks Mel, for the emails off William, he's certainly got a lot of things in flower and so much greenery. I've noticed a lot of my spring bulbs are starting to come through, hope we don't get a big frost that might damage them.

Well, I'd better go and wake Sandra up, she asked me to wake her at 10am and I've just noticed it's gone that now.

Morning All

Ouch Gill, that made me wince .It sounded very painful.Maybe not using the machine today is a good idea.At least you will be able to rest your wrist a bit longer.

It is a horrible wet day.Janice and larry will be here any minute now so I'm not stopping........Chris has juat shouted through that they have just pulled into the drive !!!!!

See you later

Thank you for the picture Ann, and what an attractive necklace, and so cleverly made.
Oh dear Gill, you do seem to have one health problem after another! Let's hope that that this is the last episode so to speak.
Horrible day here, raining non stop!! Poor Cas hates it, and scuttles in and out as quickly as she can!! OH is playing with her up and down our passageway which will have to do! I'm reading and listening to a CD! Lamb for lunch and late on maybe watch the other DVD given to me at Xmas. You'll be glad to be home Frank!! sometimes Xmas can drag on a bit !!!!
Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Afternoon everyone

Dark and dreary here ,it started raining about 11 ,sister and BIL called in for coffee ,they went about an hour ago and we have just had a nice beef roll ,there's enough beef left to have tonight with potato wedges .

Frank you'll be glad to get home by the sound of things, have a safe journey home .

Oh Gill that must have been painful twisting your wrist like that and just as you wanted to have a go with the sewing machine too .
Would a bit of strapping on the wrist help ?

Ann the necklace is so pretty ,i think it's the best one yet :-) i should think with the weight of the beads it would lay nicely round the neck .

Anne is that your wedding day with you and your OH in the photo?
Every where is messy here too ,i haven't dusted since the decs went up :-0 i have been very lazy i think it's with hubby being here more ,usually he would have been out doing some jobs but with his knee pain he hasn't done much at all .

Enjoy your day with Janice and Larry Jane ,is it just the four of you or is James back from Paris ?

Oh i meant to ask Liz how the wood burner oven is going ,have you used it much ?

David

David Report 3 Jan 2016 14:16

Magpie, I've done that before and yes it does hurt. I was pushing myself up to get out of bed recently, pushing with my fists. The R fist was pushing down into a pillow and the wrist collapsed against itself.. Didn't break it, but it sure did hurt.
Those in the know how use a wrist lock as a very effective restraint method. :-0

magpie Report 3 Jan 2016 15:10

It was Gill who hurt her wrist David not me!!
Yes we use the oven nearly everyday Mandy, today it cooked our lamb joint to perfection! and yesterday I did a Pommes Anna, again it was very good, so it has been a great success, and of course no oven to clean!!
The sun's out here, and Cas has had a lovely walk, but standing water is everywhere, the fields are inundated!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jan 2016 15:22

We,ve sunshine too at the mo. I am sorry to hear you hurt your wrist ill. Just take a little time to yourself and then you can have a go on your sewing machine. Tell Sandra you are going to use it and she will get on with something else.

magpie

magpie Report 3 Jan 2016 16:00

Yes Gill, don't leave it too long! Perhaps Sandra can help.you, or perhaps you can use another room to do sewing in if it disturbs Sandra watching TV?! OH is having a snooze, so I'm reading a book leant to me at Xmas.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2016 16:24

Yes Liz, I do seem to be having a run of bad luck lately don't I? I'm sure I'll get some good luck soon. Well, hopefully anyway :-) :-)

I don't mind watching the films with Sandra, I recorded all the ones she wanted up to yesterday as Christmas 24 has closed now, so each one is another one closer to them all being finished. They're actually good films and watching them is giving my wrist a rest. It's still a bit sore so a few days of not using it much can only help.

OH said he'd get me a table I can use, as the dining table is a bit to high for me to use the sewing machine on comfortably. He's off work tomorrow, so hopefully we'll find one suitable. I'm picking up the material for mum's cushion covers on Thursday so hopefully I'll have the table in time, plus my wrist will be ok and Sandra will have watched all her programmes by then.

Does anyone know what time Frank is back today? Hope the journey isn't to bad for him and Ros, it's pouring with rain here :-(

Enjoy your time with Janice and Larry Jane.

Going back to the film now

Annx Report 3 Jan 2016 16:24

Afternoon All,

It has poured with rain for hours here and when we went out there was a flood sign up the other side of the village and water across the road in a place we've never seen it happen before. There were huge puddles across half the road in many places as well as puddles in the fields. I think the farmers will have to carry on with more of the ditching they started last winter.

The new oven sounds great Liz, I bet you wish you'd bought that model to start with now. I looked up the Pommes Anna and they look delicious but not for my disappearing waistline I'm afraid so I shan't be trying those anytime soon!! I bet Cassie itches to be running about every day, rain or shine!!

Twisting your wrist like that really hurts Gill, so I hope a bit of rest helps so you can get on with some sewing. That's the only trouble with sewing machines....the noise! Mum had a posh Bernina which was quieter than my machine. The necklace is all beads and thread Gill.....no wire is used. It is started by netting small beads around a faceted circle of glass called a rivoli and then you just keep working in circles adding different beads. It stayed put nicely all the time I wore it yesterday Mandy. The 'snowflake' is just the right weight. I think I might make another using different beads or colours to get a different effect.

Better sort through some more paperwork now........where does it all come from! :-0

Good Afternoon Everyone

It's been raining here all day again. so much that the bottom pond is overflowing,

Abbie and Becky are here today, both in tears when they arrived, it seems they have had a big fall out with their stepdad. They want to go and live with Paul but that's not feasible as he does shift work at Waitrose which means either very early starts or late finishes, they would be welcome to stay here but getting to school wouldn't be so easy. Neil their step father drinks
and easily gets in a rage over silly things but what I object to is that he goes in Abbie's bedroom without knocking in the late evening to tell her off, I have told her to speak to her granddad [Sue's dad] and tell him but she is going to tell her teacher

The photo is of me and Peter, we were married at St Mary Star of the Sea,Hastings our local Catholic Church ,55 years ago.

I hope Frank and Ros have a good journey home.

Gill I hope your wrist has stopped aching now these thing are so easily done.

Paul and Richard are off to ice hockey after dropping the girls off. hopefully Paul will have a word with Neil about respecting Abbie's privacy she is 16 and should be treated as a adult.

Frank Report 3 Jan 2016 17:00

Well here I am at last,

We were up and about by 8.30 this morning, after me having one of my horrible nights. It's that time of year for me for the next month. Traumer everyday of January with my old dad, running into February and the funeral.58 years ago yesterday that he went back to hospital, never to return home again (SORRY) !!!!

Conrad cooked a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, tea toast and orange juice. We had planed on leaving by 11.00am but that turned into 11.45 am.

Rained heavy for a time, then on the M 5 the SAT NAV told us there was an accident, so we took the diversion, (SO DID EVERYONE ELSE) Over 45 min delays. Rain and floods everywhere. On the M 4 we passed a sign for Marmsbury, We nearly called into Liz's for a COT. lol

We arrived home about 3.30. Conrad, we hoped would stay the night, but after a Coffee he left about 4.30. with strict instructions to ring us the moment he gets home.

I see Gill is in the wars again. You are doing this too often young lady. Take more care !!!

Hope you had a nice day with Janice and Larry, Jane.

Liz, It must be very difficult to keep Cassie excerized when the weather is like this, JJ just loves standing in the rain in the garden, He gets a good rub down when he comes in.

Good old David getting the names wrong again !!!

Have you given any more thought to getting yourself a car David. If you think a LEFT HAND DRIVE would be better for you. There are dealers around who can supply.

On the way back through Swindon, Oxford. there were daffodills out along the verges. The trees looked as some of those were in bud also. WHAT has happened to our seasons ???

Ros has the unenveable job of unpacking and getting the washing sorted. She will no doubt start a wash this evening, and get it on the radiators to dry enough for ironing.

It's so nice not to hear the babble of Jo and Ella going on all the time. We will sit and unwined with a bit of tele, and I doubt we will have much to say. HEVENLY PEACE. !!!!!

Might look in before bed, which won't be to late tonight. :-D :-D :-D

magpie Report 3 Jan 2016 17:12

Glad to hear you're home safely Frank and are now enjoying some peace and quiet.
We have a method for exercise Cas in this awful weather! One of us stands under the overhang on the veranda and throws her ring for her to retrieve a few times. After that she is happy enough to go to her crate to dry out, then she comes into the sitting room and snuggles up in her bed by the fire!!
I think someone needs to have a word with your granddaughters stepfather Anne, as he could find himself in trouble for not respecting her privacy as she is 16. Neither of us would dream of just going into our granddaughters by bedrooms without knocking, and they're 15 and 12. You do have to be careful as things can be so easily misconstrued.

Gillx Report 3 Jan 2016 18:15

Pleased to hear you got back ok Frank, you can now enjoy some peace and quiet. You'll probably sleep well tonight after your bad night last night.
Yes I have been in the wars, I seem to have had a lot of bad luck lately. At least my wrist isn't broken so that's good.
I bet you can't wait to go to Tenerife, is the weather still hot over there?

It sounds like you have the exercise sorted for Cass Liz, throwing her ring for her to retrieve sounds like a great game for her and certainly works if she then snuggles up in her bed.

That doesn't sound good Anne, he really shouldn't be doing that, especially now she's 16, I don't blame her for wanting to live somewhere else. Is he like that all the time or just when he's had a drink. What does her mum think about it, can't she say something to him? Hope things improve soon.

Well, Sandra and I are on our 5th film, looks like this one is going to be a sad one, set in an orphanage. Hope it has a happy ending.

Missed your post Anne, That bloke should be repremarded by someone. What right does any man, let alone a STEP- FATHER to just walk into A 16 YEAR OLD BEDROOM. Who the HELL does he think he is. The poor girl must be frightened to death of what he might do or say. I think a word from the Police to him, wouldn't go amiss.

I have been on here since I last posted, trying to book in for our flight and print the boarding passes. It appears I was trying to print it in the wrong form. After many atempts I got it right.

Ros has unpacked and got a wash on. Taken down all the cards for Christmas and Birthday. Will start on the tree tomorrow. I will have to get all the box's in from the garage.

Going to sit down now and have a nice cold beer.

Annx

Annx Report 3 Jan 2016 19:46

Hello Frank. :-D :-D I bet you are so glad to be chilling at home with your beer. It's not been a good day for travelling at all. You will be able to unwind now for the next few days before your trip to Tenerife and the sun and lounging about! lol.

Oh Anne, surely he must realise he could stumble in on your grandaughter in a state of undress! It's in his own interests as well as hers to knock. He does need a wake up call so I hope he listens to Paul if he has a chat with him.

We are watching War and Peace later. OH says it should be good, but I'm not sure whether I'll like it but we'll see. We've recorded it on 2 tellys so OH can watch it elsewhere if necessary.

It's raining again now. :-S
