Afternoon Ladies,
I slept well.......once I managed to drop off, but still lay in later than intended. OH did some cutting back in the front garden, enough to fill the rest of the garden bin, so like most of you the bin is ready to go out tomorrow ready for collection on Tuesday. It had started to rain by then but has stopped now and there's no sunshine. I decided to clean the bathroom but the spinner brush ran out of charge halfway through doing the bath. I've done the rest apart from the floor and will finish off tomorrow. I even poured some unblocker down the bath drain as it seems slow draining to me.
I cooked some salmon to go with with cabbage, leeks, carrots, cauli, peas and green beans with added mashed potato for OH and made up a packet hollandaise sauce for lunch so that was quick to cook.
It's a lovely tree with those big leaves so I thought you'd like to see it now the leaves look very autumnal. I suspected Vera might find the email in her spam again and it is strange why it suddenly started happening. I'll have to post a code word on the thread when I send an email so Vera knows! OH said the same about a painting, but there are so many of those intricate leaves! I might try a small area for practice and see how it goes.
Oh Vera what a sad life for the two little dogs and what a noise there must have been in that house with so many. They will have a lovely home with your daughter now and be great company for her. They do have the softest fur too. The one next door is aged 15 now.
We seem to be due some light rain tomorrow AnnG so I hope it isn't much for your trip to Hidcote. I remember enjoying a visit there years ago. Yes the tree leaves are pretty colours now and a nice shape too. Those monitoring devices your daughter has must give her a lot of peace of mind.
I can't remember Amazon ever delivering on a Sunday either Mandy. Yes I need to dust off my paintbrushes don't I. I still haven't booked the course as I'm not sure when we'll be able to book the bathroom to be done yet and still think it might not be as enjoyable being more abstract.
Sorry you had a bad night Mel. How is your car battery now......OK?

Sounds as though the little dogs have fallen on all four feet Vera.mthey sound lovely and just what your daughter needs.
It is pouring down out there. Talk about one extreme to the other. My dinner smells nice a ready to cook lamb shank, roast pots and carrots cauli and sprouts. It had better be good those lamb shanks are not cheap these days.

Yes Vera rain started here about 3 o'clock. How lovely two dogs kept together ,poor little things how can people treat them like that ,they probably have never had a cuddle but it's nice to know they will now know what love is and live out their days in a loving home bless them and bless your daughter for taking them on.

It's raining here as well now so I expect you have it too Mandy. It's a shame as this morning we had sunshine for the first time in several days. As I will be short of time tomorrow I decided to get some washing done so I did a load of shirts and blouses and cooked a roast lamb dinner which we have just finished. In between I flitted in and out of the garden, cutting back a few plants and pulling some weeds. The garden bin is nearly full but it was only emptied on Wednesday so about 10 days before it gets emptied again.
Annx, thank you for the photos of the red oak. The leaves are a beautiful colour As the others have said you need to get your paints out again as I think you would make something quite lovely. I nearly missed your email as it had gone into Spam again. Each time that happens I check the box that tells the computer never to put your emails into Spam but it just doesn't seem to register.
I'm currently waiting for daughter to ring. We were texting this morning and she said she would call later. I shall hear all about her new dogs. I won't bore you with the whole story as it's long and complicated but a while ago daughter applied to the RSPCA to home one of their rescue dogs. She has always had medium to large dogs before but the RSPCA asked if she would consider taking 2 Shih Tzu dogs, a male aged 6-7 and a female aged about 2. Cutting a long story short, she met them several times, agreed to have them, then various medical issues arose for the male dog in particular and the date she was to receive them got put off. Finally, she brought them home yesterday. RSPCA vets have neutered the male dog, repaired a damaged ulna and found a heart problem which means he will be on constant medication but daughter is prepared for the cost of that. The female is going back to the RSPCA in December to be speyed.
These poor dogs have had a miserable existence so far. The RSPCA seized 120 of them from an ordinary house. That isn't a typo - it really was 120. There was 1 woman living in the house. Can you imagine the terrible state of that place and the awful condition of those poor animals. There were so many of them that they had to be shared out among the RSPCA centres around the country. I believe that there is now a big court case going on. Well, two of them will have a safe, happy life from now on. Daughter will make sure of that.
I've already had a few photos and short videos from daughter and the dogs seem to be settling well already. One video made us chuckle - it was the male dog asleep and snoring. It was like being stood next to a pneumatic drill. You wouldn't believe such a small bundle of fluff could produce such a loud noise!

Raining here and 13 degrees, not very warm indoors though. I have vacuumed and dusted lounge, dining room, hall and kitchen so do feel I have done something with my day. Ought to give the bathroom a clean too I suppose.
I said in reply to your email Ann, the photos of the leaves are lovely. aren't the colours beautiful.
I am hopefully going to Hidcote garden on Tuesday with the U3a garden visits group. I am just hoping it won't rain all day.

Morning just,
I had a terrible night, got up for the loo still very dark outside and black going back to the bedroom and back in bed. Thought I would drop right off again but no I lay for hours and just could'nt get back to sleep and got cross with myself which made it worse. I even tried turning over which |i don't usually do and that did'nt work either. Must have dropped off for a while in the end as I woke up at 11am.
Its 15 degrees here and cloudy but I don't think its rained in the night.
The pics of the Red Oak are lovely Annx thanks for sending them.

Morning Anng, morning all,
Grey here but dry and irs 12 degrees ,hopefully we can get the front grass cut this morning before the rain comes ,the garden bin goes out today for tomorrow and the cuttings will top it up .
Anng thats handy that alarm your daughters has on her phone for her blood sugars ,there's so many apps and things you can have on the phones now but I'm afraid it all goes over my head .
Ann I think that second photo of the oak tree with the beautiful colours would make a lovely painting ,I showed it to Colin and he said the same ,one to save until you get your brushes out again I think .
Just had a knock at the door and it was the post lady with my hand mixer and Max's joint tablets I ordered from amazon, I didn't know we got amazon post from royal mail on a Sunday ,just got Max's biscuits to come from Amzon today too.

Good morning all, still dry and 11 degrees but very dull. Nothing planned for today, Doesn't look very inviting for pottering in the garden. Might be forced to filll my time with housework. Arms not bad and I slept well covid arm is a bit stiff, hopefully that will wear off. I do have a list of admin jobs to do so maybe I will work down that.

:-D I had noticed the error but knew it was an error. Mandy daughter always carries fruit pastilles. And at night has biscuits in the bedroom as her phone has an alarm that goes off when her blood sugar drops too low. It is a really loud alarm.

What am I like Vera! I've just corrected it now. I usually read my posts after writing them but missed that error so thank you for saying! Not as bad as a spelling error I read about recently where a woman meant to text that she could still smell her boyfriend's cologne on her pillow. She spelt cologne as colon. You did have a bad night and I know I feel like a zombie when I'm awake most of the night. Hopefully tonight you will sleep better. Our nearest IKEA is 34 miles away but it is nearly all motorway travel. We used to go there then carry on another 11 miles to McArthur Glenn retail outlet, but neither of us manage all the walking at both now. I must do a stint in the garden in the morning. I think we are due the rain midday.
I must look at the Range and Aldi now then Gwyn. Your brother was determined to 'get his man' wasn't he to sleep under a hedge a couple of nights can't have been nice. It worked though!
It might be next weekend Mandy as I think it's the last weekend in October. It's a good idea for your son to explain to the children what to do for Jake if needs be and won't frighten them if they know what it is and know what to do.

Evening all,
Well it's been another grey day and tomorrow we should have rain , only seems a short while ago we were all going Phew it's hot . We went to see son and took them some fruit and the cakes ,son had been and got some sacks of potatoes so we brought ours home ,they will store in the shed and last us a good few weeks , we've always bought the sacks for the winter saves lugging potatoes home with the shopping .
Oh Mel I'm glad you like the crochet bits ,I'll be interested to see how your using them . Has the battery charged OK now .
Anng hope your arms aren't to tender ,I found my arm was tender for a couple of days and I felt really tired ,we have the covid jab next Saturday.
Ann you asked if the girls do knitting , no they don't but I did teach them all when they were younger so they do know how to ,even Jake wanted to have a go when he was little and use to watch me knit , it was funny because when he asked he said Nanny do you think I could learn to knit with the sticks :-D I said Jake they are called needles lol.
Vera Jake does have to watch what he eats , son said he was going to sit the others down and explain that if they saw Jake was shaking or a bit confused to get something sweet for him ,at the butchers where he works a couple of the chaps there are diabetic so they know what to do . Son is diabetic too but he's on tablets like Jake was. Hope you can get a better nights sleep tonight .
The children have one more week at school them it's half term, is it next Saturday we alter the clocks or the Saturday after .

Its been raining here since about 3pm and is still raining now.
Annx I don't use Majoram in cooking but the bees love its tiny pink flowers but its sowed itself everywhere. BIL cam today and took the battery off charge and said a battery for my car in Halfords with his discount would be £150 odd quid. I don't know what you mean about a stop start car?I have found that when I get out the light stays on for quite a long while much longer than my old car but BIL said when I lock it it goes out quicker. It really needs a lkong run I think and not just up the shop or to Stu's. When I start it up it locks all the doors so that more battery.
Vera I hope you sleep better tonight after a bad one. It does make a difference if you get a good night in. I slept well last night but this afternoon I could have just dropped off again. I don't like sleeping during the day as I sleep for too long.
Mandy can't remember if I said they arrived yesterday while I was up the border and they are lovely.

It's much the same here, 13 degrees and feels colder. Nothing but grey cloud all day; I'm beginning to forget what that yellow stuff looks like.
I had an even worse night than usual and eventually fell asleep some time after 5 am. I got up at 7.30 but felt so groggy that I went back to bed for a couple of hours. That meant a late start for me so I seem to have been chasing my tail all day. I did some necessary household jobs this morning and then after lunch I managed to spend an hour and a half in the garden. I feel quite pleased with what I managed to get done outside but the more I do, the more I see what still needs doing and tomorrow we are supposed to be getting rain again.
I hope you are OK after your jabs AnnG. We both had one in each arm and were fine afterwards. I had an uncomfortable night after the jabs as each time I turned over I lay on a tender spot but that only lasted one night.
I hope you find the duvet you want Annx. I couldn't manage with such a lightweight one as you in winter. I've always been a bit of a chilly mortal though I don't like it very hot either. OH was always the one who would be wandering around in a T-shirt in the middle of winter but he is worse than me now and is always cold. He was found to have a bit of a thyroid problem but it was borderline so no treatment was given. We don't normally heat our bedrooms as we both like a warm bed but a cool room. OH could have the underfloor heating going in his room but chooses not to. Being upstairs I have a radiator but only occasionally put it on for an hour to take the chill off the room. I've never been to IKEA either but we don't have a branch anywhere near us. Btw, Annx, I did have a little chuckle at your last post when you hoped that AnnG's arms got achey. I think you might have left out a negative word there ;-)
I expect the family were pleased with their sponge and Viennese fingers Mandy. Does Jake have to have a very restricted diet or can he have some of these treats? I know daughter's late partner was supposed to be very, very careful but he was quite naughty at times and ate things he shouldn't and then the blood sugar monitor he had to wear would start beeping.
Time I had a late afternoon cuppa I think. I'm just beginning to feel a little bit chilly as I have been upstairs for some while and there is no heating on up here. Sleep well tonight everyone.

Afternoon All,
It's 13 degrees here too but feels colder. OH is off to another match and all I have done yet is pop to the shop and done a bit of tidying. I've located the charger to my favourite camera at last so once the battery is charged I may go out and take some tree photos while the leaves look so colourful.
That was a bit of toing and froing to get Jake's injector pen Mandy. It sounded like the clinic hadn't included it for the pharmacy to issue it. He'll be pleased when he starts to feel better from using it. I keep meaning to ask whether any of the girls you are making the blankets for have been interested in learning to knit or crochet? I remember it was my grandmother that started me with knitting a doll's scarf in tan coloured wool. She asked me if I was trying to make a lacey one.......I wonder why!! She didn't have much money and had 38 grandchildren by the time I was born, but I loved the simple things she showed me how to do like french knitting using an old cotton reel with four nails in the top and also how to make a peg doll using the old push on clothes pegs and how to dress it with scraps of fabric she'd saved and with bits of wool for it's hair. Sometimes there would be a magic painting book for me, in summer a butterfly net to take in the meadow at the back of where she lived.
Prices for things have gone up so much Mel, I had a look at what a new battery would be for my car as the one it has is ten years old now and that was around £90 on Ebay I think. I then looked at those for your car and the dearest Bosch one if for a stop start engine was £148, but others started at just over £50. I don't know whether your car is a stop start one. I've never grown Marjoram so is it easy? What do you use it for.
That's good you have had your jabs AnnG and I hope your arms don't get too achey or sore, but it's a good idea to get on with making your cards today so they get more of a rest.
