Good luck with the quiz Anng.
I must have been out there for an hour as I went out just after my last post.

Afternoon All,
It's sunny here now but only 15 degrees so quite chilly. We've had the heating on from 6.00pm the last few nights, but it's only for half an hour to warm the place up. We are in bed by 8.00pm most nights so that is enough at the moment. It's handy having the conservatory as opening the door to it in the mornings lets the warm air in. I'm looking forward to the replacement curtain rail being fitted in the bedroom and the new rail being fitted in here next week. They should help with keeping heat in now and then heat out in the summer. I might make the curtains for in here as it is a small window about 4 foot square but on the other hand I'll see what is on offer first at places like Dunelm.
Mel I bet you were thrilled at the thought of getting another car soon. I hope you like it and it's nice to drive when you see it on Sunday.
Vera that is interesting about the show being in Chinese but the singing of the songs in English. I had asked OH whether many would speak english in China and he thought a lot would know some english. I suppose your granddaughter will pick up some chinese while she is there too. I wonder how she is liking the food? It's certainly a great opportunity and experience for her. It is getting cold at night as you say and I think I need to get the throw out for the bed. I wouldn't have been saying that a few weeks ago! It's good your OH got some lights and a small fan heater. They are handy and we have a small, very cheap one to use at times and for if the central heating pump packs up!! It's always good to have an alternative as a back up plan. I don't know what we'll do if we eventually have to be all electric with a heat pump.......have generators in the back garden if we have one?
It sounds promising that your friend will be able to get your box working AnnG. I've always recorded things when we went away and it is handy to be able to do that, so fingers crossed she can do it for you. I wonder what the subject is for the photography group this time?

Cleaned the little loo and bathroom and sorted out some more mealworms for Ropbby and Jenny who is now coming on to the patio for her breakfast lunch and tea.
Its 15 degrees here now and may go up to 17 by 2pm.
Now I am goingf to take some plants off the patio back down by the shed for the winter. Theres a begonis to put in the shed and my Amerylis (sp). The leaves are falling off the trees like mad here.

3-10th Vera. And like you hoping for dry weather although, also like you there are NT and other places to visit. Obviously it is a familiar area to me as it is where T was born, grew up and went to school. Lots of memories around in the area though, we spent many long weekends with Shearings in a hotel in torquay. Just nice to get away somewhere. Hope you have a lovely break.
I have just heard that my friend will help with the Tivo box as she has already had to do her own.
Photography this afternoon.

It's grey and dreary today. The weather app is telling me it's 14 degrees but feels cooler and it's not forecast to get above 15 degrees anyway.
I've done 2 loads of washing today but it's not worth hanging anything out so most of it has been in the drier with a few bits and pieces hung on an airer in the conservatory.
When do you go away AnnG? We are off with daughter on Sunday but that's just for a couple of days. We'll have to decide what we are going to do as our time is limited and there is plenty in the area. I suppose it will depend on the weather. If it's bad there are a couple of NT places in the area where we could at least go round the houses in the dry. If it's dry and not too cold there is a lovely stretch of coast and there is also a big Shire horse centre not too far away.
Just had a break to take a call from the hospital. I am now booked in to have the cataract on my bad eye sorted on 17th October, so not too long to wait.

Good morning all. bright and sunny again and 3 degrees. I have now actually got the heating on low. Although it is only ever on from 0730 to 10.00 and 1630 to 10.00pm.
That was good that they could find sompatible bits for your lights Vera, saving you the trouble of buying new ones and fitting them.
Mel, great that Stu has sorted the car for you and you will be looking forward to sunday to going to see it.
I am waiting to hear if a friend is going to be able to come and give me a hand with changing the Tivo box over. If she can't do it I may be stuck for a while with just the terrestrial TV programmes. Not really a problem but not being able to record programmes is. With going away soon I like to record my programmes for when I come back. still hopefully she will let me know soon.

I really am late on parade today. It's been quite a bright, sunny day but it's definitely feeling like autumn now and getting very cold overnight. I don't think we've had quite such cold starts to the day as you AnnG but I had to put something else over the bed last night as I couldn't get warm. I hope your lunch in Cheltenham was enjoyable.
That's good news about the car Mel. I expect Stu will check it over for you and make sure it's in good condition for its age. We don't drive a youngster either; our old car is 17 years old though we have had it from new. That label printer not working must have been frustrating. I really felt for you stubbing your toe. I reckon we've all done it at some time or another and it's bloomin' painful. I hope it's not aching much now.
Mandy, that's a lot of cues. You really must have green fingers to do so well. It's a good job you can share them with son and family or you would be eating cucumber for every meal. I remember that a little while ago everyone seemed to be eating avocado on toast. Perhaps you could start a fashion for cucumber on toast ;-)
I saw something on Google about that car ploughing into Specsavers Annx. That must have been frightening for anyone in the shop at the time. It's a blessing that there were no serious injuries. It's good that you can get the blackout blind you chose after all. You mentioned about the show granddaughter is in and whether it would be in Chinese or English. Well you are right on both counts. I watched a YouTube video of the whole 30 minute piece that was filmed in July before F joined the cast. There is a bit of a song and dance number at the beginning and end and that and all the linking bits between acts was in Chinese but all the songs are in English as they were sung in the original Disney films. I won't go into the running story that links the acts but those links are all done by Mickey Mouse and Pluto and it is very odd hearing them chatting away in Chinese.
OH went back to the electrical shop early this morning and was home by 9.30 am with suitable new lights for my display units in the kitchen and a small fan heater. We had 2 and one died on us so he has replaced it. They are useful in spring and autumn when the underfloor heating is off but we need a bit of warmth in the room, usually in the evening. Later we went for our usual Thursday coffee and the 3 men sat and talked man things while we 5 ladies put the world to rights. It was very pleasant
A quick wave to Gwyn and anyone else who looks in from time to time ~~~~~~~~~ and I'm off to make myself some overnight oats for my breakfast and then have a read of my book. Sleep well everyone.

Good news. Stu has been in touch with the fella selling the car and we are going to see it on Sunday. Stu said he'll take the trailer so we can bring it home. He also said it has a chain cam instead of a rubber belt so thats good. Its a lot younger than my old girl but still not a youngster.

I suppose it might be a busy time with his work for Stu Mel, so it slips his mind. You might have to keep reminding him. Yes I think my nail must have taken 6 months to grow out this far. At first half the nail was growing out black for ages and I thought I would lose it. I caught my toe on the castor wheel and end of the bed leg at the corner. It hurt that much at first I was wondering if it was broken.
That's typical that just as you manage to get a lift to the shop the label printer went wrong. I'd ring them to make sure it's working again before someone takes you. You've not had much luck lately and it's all made worse by not having a car yet isn't it.
Pill time for me and then I'm off to bed as I've done nothing but yawn this afternoon.

So do I Annx. Not sure if he's too bothered. I have a stuffed hedgehog against one of the bed legs which I stubbed my toe on ages ago but this time I did it on the next leg. It very painful and the nail has gone blue at the mo, no doubt it will go black and I shall have to wait ages for it to grow out.
BIL came today as he is going out over Exmoor tomorrow with his camera. He has a sandwich with me lunchtime and then fiished off and took me down the shop to post a small parcel. Well they said they had done 13 parcels today but would it print the label for mine.....no. They tried 7 times with no luck so now I have to find someone else to take me up there with it again.

Afternoon All,
What a lovely sunny day! The snowy white little Egret was in the brook in the next village today. He didn't seem bothered about the Ducks or Moorhens and the Moorhens have become very bold and tame in the past few years. I think with the pandemic and then the yarn bombs more people feed them. We did a few errands, then ended up at a garden centre and the Works. I used to buy most of my paintbrushes and pads of paper there, but they have changed their supplier and no longer do the packs of tiny detail brushes I liked and now the pads of painting paper are sealed so you can't feel the texture and thickness of the paper. :-S We did see a lovely jet black working Cocker Spaniel in there who was keen to meet everybody. His coat was so shiny and he was 18 months old and full of beans!
I I've booked the boiler service for November and contacted the man who did the ensuite floor. He has got a discount from his supplier which he was expecting, but we are just not ready to do the bedroom or bathroom floors yet.
It's surprising what your PC or Ipad does to your words at times Mandy! lol. It always pays to read what youv'e written doesn't it. I hope you've managed to buy/do everything you wrote down.
I hope you had a nice meet up and lunch with your friends AnnG. I struggle to remember what things like USB stand for!
Ouch Mel! I know how painful that is as my toe went purple and the nail black doing the same thing. I thought I would lose the nail and it grew all lumpy for while. It's almost back to normal now and I think the next time I trim my nails the last of the black will be gone. I hope Stu cooks something nice for you and that he has news on a replacement for your car.
Back to more admin now. :-(

Morning all,
Its 10 degrees here and a nice bright sunny morning. Got up for the loo while it was dark and on the way back to bed I stubbed my toe on the bad leg. I already have a soft toy on the first leg so now I need to find something for the next leg. Its my middle toe on my right foot and is showing signs that its going to go black, its a sort of bluey colour on the nail. Took me ages to drop off again after that but I did. Thought as nobody was coming this morning I'd have a lie in but was wide awake by 8,45am so not much of a lie in.
Dinner at Stu's tonight he said he or James will pick me up.
Enjoy your trip to Cheltenham Anng and Mandy hope you get everything on your list.

Yes, as well as plugs with ports you can also get port hubs that plug into the port on your PC as well. I have one that has 4 ports in the hub so I can plug in my new keyboard and extended drive as well as other USB sticks. It's handy when you run short of plug sockets. I hope you find your plug.
We just saw on the local news that in the next village a car managed to mount the pavement and run inside the Specsavers Shop doorway at 9.50am this morning. It isn't a bit of road you can speed on as it's between traffic lights and a zebra crossing. Also there is usually a solid row of cars parked that side of the road. Luckily no-one was badly hurt and they haven't arrested anyone. Imagine looking on racks for some new specs and a car smashing through the doorway. It's only a small shop as well.
