I did go into town But I had to take it slowly so really only went in to the bank (for cash), M&S, Bon Marche and Peacocks.

Bought a thickish sweater in M&S as I had 20% off with my spparks, and a thin sweater in Peacocks. I was in town about 2 hours but a lot of that was seat hopping. Still It was M&S I wanted to go to to use the 20% off before it expired. Legs are a bit sore now but I am OK and pleased that I went in.

Mel, have you raised a hoglet before?

Afternoon All,

It seemed muggy in the night and is still like it today. OH has two meetings this morning and after lunch, one nearby with someone he is meeting for a coffee and chat so I don't know when I'll see him. At least I've no cooking to do as he's taken food to have between the meetings. I decided to go to a garden centre and have poached eggs on toast while I was out. It was the worst poached eggs on toast I've ever had! The brown toast was just soft warm bread really, with about a 50p piece of pale brown on it, no spread or butter and the eggs tasted strongly of the vinegar they must have put in the water. The tea wasn't good either and very weak with just one teabag in the lukewarm water. A bit different to the 4 teabags Sharon gave us yesterday to add as we wished and take the rest home! The garden centre sells lots of other cheap goods and I found a soft bristled handbrush and pan. I always kept a seperate brush and pan to sweep snow off my car, but OH uses them both for everything despite being told not to use the one for my car. A lot have very stiff bristles that may scratch the car so I was pleased to find what I wanted. I'm going to put a sticky label on it saying Ann's Car. I also got some stick on hooks you don't need to drill holes with, A squeegee for the bathroom and some battery flickering tealights.

I forced myself to go out and do a bit of weeding and when my back started aching I began cutting back the Leycestria instead which was stifling everything around it with its long branches of heavy flowers. I have more than half filled the garden bin, but had to come in then as I was so hot.

I hope it will be good news on the car Mel, and Stu will be able to check it over for you to see if it's ok. You really need a car now so you can do your errands and will be starting your Christmas shopping before long. I keep meaning to get the slow cooker going and make meals for the freezer. We have a few ready meals and you do tire of them and home made are better for us as well.

It's a good idea to get the garden furniture put away while it's still dry Mandy. I was looking at ours and thinking the same, but I'm not sure with OH sorting some of his boxes of programmes in there that there is room, so we'll have a look in the morning before the rain is due.

AnnG I was only reading this morning that supermarket prices are expected to keep increasing at least till Christmas, but it is shocking how much they are shooting up, not the odd 5 or 10p anymore is it. I hope you decided to have a mooch round town as it is a nice day here and the shops are getting Christmas things in now.

Ha ha Vera I name all the garden birds I have Rupert Raven and his wife Rona, Robbie and roberta Robins, Willie Wagtail and willamina, All th eblue tits are berty and bertha, Cheeky chaffinch and Mrs C, Woody Woodpecker and Winnie, Percy pigeon and Peggy and so on. George Great tit and Gerty. I think the little hog is going to be Hoglet. Its squeaks Iv'e never heard one squeak before I jknow they bigger ones grunt as thats how I know they are in the garden soemtimes as I hear them. Its quite a peircing squeak.

Iv'e swept the decking but no sign of the oil man yet. BIL is mowing and its been dryish this morning just a little wetness in the air now and then. Its 18 degrees here and still very cloudy and grey.

I have a bit of egg left from washing the pie over yesterday so I am going to put some of that in with Hoglet. I hav'nt seen whether it can open its eyes or not yet so I may have to try and wash its face but it can roll into a solid little ball when you can't see anything but prickles.

Right pill time and lunch time lets see iff BIL wants any as I have seen him eating the apples off the tree as he mows.

Good afternoon from a sunny Suffolk

It’s a beautiful day and, as Mandy said, it is supposed to get to 25 degrees this afternoon. I even got tempted to work in the garden for about an hour and a half. OH lifted some troughs on to the big garden table for me so I didn’t have to bend too much. My back is aching now but I’m resting it a bit and then hoping to go back out later to finish what I was doing.

I hope Chelsea had a lovely birthday on her 18th which is a bit special. I wondered if you would be making a third blanket Mandy.

How can your littlest great grandchild be 1 already AnnG? I am sure he was only born a couple of months ago. Time has definitely got wings lately. Did you go to town today?

Mel, I hope the car Stu found is just right for you. You’ll be glad to get some wheels again. I am sure you will make a brilliant job of looking after the baby hedgehog. It will be thinking you are its mother. You must give it a name. I’ve even named the ornaments in our garden. We have Horatio the heron, Howard and Hilda the cats and Harriet the hedgehog. OH thinks I’m mad. He might well be right ;-)

OH is still working outside and will be getting peckish so I’d better go and make a few sandwiches and a nice cuppa.

Morning all,
Cloudy here this morning the suns trying to peep through ,it should be a nice warm day with the temperature reaching 25 .
We're going to put the garden chairs away in the garden box and get the table to bits and that goes in the shed then we're going to try and get the canopy down off the gazebo and get that away too ,all jobs to do while the things are dry so plenty to keep us busy for the morning .

Mel are you giving the little hedgehog a name :-)

Morning all,

Not been down to Hoglet yet. Slept right through till 9am not getting up once for the loo.

Whilst we were having dinner Stu had a look on his phone and said there was a car for sale in Newton Abbott so he messaged the man. I am hoping he got a message back. It seems he had taken the price down by £500 so perhaps no takers on it I am hoping anyway so now it a waiting game to see if Stu gets a reply. He went home with a good third of the pie last night and some of the cheesey leeks and one half of potato saying that was tomorrows lunch for him and James. I bet James dos'nt get a look in!!

I have suddenly gone off of the meals for one from Asda so are now making my own for the freezer so I don't have to cook everyday.

The oil comes today and maybe BIL so I better get my skates on and get in the shower.

Mandy yet another blanket! I knew they would all want one once they had seen the first one. They will certainly keep you busy up until Christmas. Hope Chelsea had a lovely birthday. <3

Doing my shopping order today I realised it was way over £80. Ok I have 2 books of stamps on there so that is £12 not food but not al long ago it was a struggle to get it over £50 so I didn’t have to pay delivery.

Thank you all for your good wishes and a Happy Birthday to Chelsea too. <3 I wondered whether she would like a blanket when she saw how nice they were Mandy. I wonder what colours she will choose? You are going to be busy between now and Christmas making the different things. I have never seen wool with a pattern to make shown on the band before. Yes the prices seem to go up every week don't they. I think your cues have been incredible this year!

Sharon was pleased to see us and we had our usual two biscuits, but there was only one other couple there. She was saying that the breakfasts are the busy time now, yet when they did their delicious carvery in the past it was always busy.

I got a refund at the Co-op but no apology or explanation and the woman asked me for the magazine. Why she thought we'd bring that back with us when they'd charged me for two I don't know, but it became apparent it was to save her walking to the magazine rack to get the details! It used to be such a friendly shop where the staff would always say hello to regular customersas you walked round the shop and often pack your bag for you. I've seen them carry shopping out and cross the road with some of the less able customers who live in the pensioner bungalows opposite too. Since the nice manager who was like a whirlwind getting things done moved to other stores it's gone downhill and there are less staff so they all have to stack shelves as well as serve now.

It will be good to do a good deed and see a little Hedgehog over the winter Mel. I haven't even seen any of the poor little ones that get run over this year so they must be in decline like they say..

Evening all,

Happy Anniversary to you both Ann ,I hope you enjoyed your lunch , I knew it was your Anniversary the same day as Chelsea's birthday .

Oh Mel a little lodger for the winter ,they are so cute when they are tiny .

Shopping day and the bill seems to rise every week now ,I did get some wool from Aldi this week two balls of red and a nice golden yellow ready for a Christmas project if I can fit something in as Chelsea would also like a blanket ,I also bought a ball of mixed grey colours with a glove pattern on the ball band .

We've just had beans and tomatoes on toast tonight as neither of us were very hungry and it used some of the big toms up ,there's a huge one beginning to ripen it must be one of Mels seed ,I want to save some seeds from one as they are nice toms .
Cut three more cucumbers so the count is 91 , I can see about two more coming along and that might be it so don't think I'll get to the hundred

My neighbour has just brought me down a baby hedgehog. Too small to go through the winter so now I have him in a plastic box and am stirpping newspaper for a nest and finding a cardboard box for a house. Will take a pic and send it later.

Looks like may have it for the winter!!!

Sorry Ann, I did mean to say Happy anniversary to you both.

An hour late morning I won't get back. I said about ordering the new tivo box. Had to jump through hoops for that, Virgin wanted me to update my password and answer all sorts of questions that seemed to involve me going round in circles and each time having to go to my emails to agree I was me by ticking a box that said so.
Anyway it is ordered now. Just have to find somebody to help change the existing one over when it comes.

Happy Annniversary Annx and G. <3 <3 <3

Enjoy your lunch out and I hope you get extra biccies with your tea.

I have had Gerry round here this morning she's Graham's wife just across the cross raods from me. I hav'nt seen her for years so we had lots to chat about. She got me two bags of chickens food and came and dropped them off and I gave her a bale of wood shavings Mole Valley gave ne that was two big a pieces for the chcikens I had to scrape around in the chickens egg money to pay her as I have no other money in the house. I hate it when I have no notes and not going up the post van I can't get any out. If I get it in the shop from their machine it costs me £1.50 to use the machine.

As to asking Stu to let me know I have done that but sometimes he dos'nt know what he has to do till its time for dinner anyway. He's a busy chap and then there's the Parkinnsons cliic on a Wednesday too.

Anyway my tum is telling me I need to eat so I may have a couple of crumpets so I can take my pills.

Hope you enjoy your anniversary lunch Ann.

It does feel slightly warmer indoors now but was cold earlier.

I now need to order a new virgin Tivo box. apparently the one I am using is very old and needs replacing. so Iwill do that later.

Vera my leg that has arthritis like pain is marginally better I think although I have not done a lot of walking to test it. I did need to use a stick even around the house 2 or 3 weeks back and I don't now so that is an improvement.
the main tweaky pain I have is from the basal cell because, I am sure it has to flex when I walk or climb up and down stairs.
I have done a load of washing, some still in the drier, and cooked some veg for this evening and hard boiled an egg for lunch but I have not done much else.

Mel have you actually asked Stu if he can give you a good 24 hours as to where and when you will be eating.

Morning All,

It's our 22nd wedding anniversary today so we are going to Ullesthorpe Court for a light bite and to see Sharon who always gives us extra biccies with out tea! We went there after our wedding so we thought it seemed appropriate.

Mel did they test you for covid when you saw the doctor. Your symptoms sound a lot like the new variant that is very contagious and causes more coldlike symptoms with a raw throat. It might be another cold you have picked up though.

Vera I accidentally signed up for Amazon Prime once. It is really sneaky how you have to watch what you click on. They cancelled it straightaway when I contacted them though. Your friend was lucky she hadn't accidentally bought anything with Prime though or she might not have been refunded. When it happened to me at the Co-op before I was told that the till didn't always 'ding' when they entered something, so would get repeated sometimes. The Co-op must be aware though when they stocktake and find they have a money surplus to what's been sold. I wonder what they do with that money? Oh dear I have my 'Inspector's hat' on again! I hope there will be another video and that your granddaughter will be on it for you to see.

Do any of you (like me ) find unidentified objects in your drawers? That gave me a chuckle! I was going through one in the study where my art pens are and came across a clear plastic tube that I have no idea what it belongs to, what it is for and why I would keep it. I might send a photo later. It's the same with keys sometimes. I end up with a collection, but don't know what they are for, so just hang onto them. I think I must have thrown out a strange red plastic thing once, but since suspect it probably was the key to release the door glass for my cooker so you can clean it as I can't find that and it is red. I think I need to label more things like I do with charging cables now, as I have a collection of those.

AnnG when I listen to some of the Marvellous Medicine videos a local hospital does
most months some of them turn their heads away and the mic fades away. It is annoying as you say. A couple of evenings this week I have put the heating on for quarter of an hour as it has been quite chilly. This morning seems quite warm, even with the bathroom windows and door open, but I have a fleece on and had some socks on this week.

Better get changed now to go out as OH is home.

Morning girls,

About the same here dull and dry at the moment and 17 degfrees.

I shall be doing a bit of hw today and get the veg done for tonight and finishing the pie.
I can't seem to stop sneezing this morning and my nose keeps running.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Sep 2025 08:41

Good morning ladies

It’s much warmer than yesterday but quite dull and the wind is supposed to be getting up again by 10 am. At least it’s dry so that’s a bonus.

Stu should give you a bit more notice of when he’s coming Mel. I expect it’s difficult for him but you need to know a few hours in advance to plan the cooking.

I hope your leg is less painful today AnnG.

I’m like you Annx and always ask for my receipt. My friend M doesn’t bother and doesn’t check her statements. A couple of years ago she realised that she had been paying for Amazon Prime for about 18 months. She must have signed up by accident. Amazon were very good and could see she hadn’t used it so paid her all the money back. She hasn’t learnt her lesson as she still doesn’t check.

Granddaughter says she is in rehearsal for a few more days and debuts on Tuesday. I shall keep my eyes out for any videos after that.

I’d better shower and wash my hair now. We’ll meet our friends for coffee later but have no other plans. Have a good day whatever you are all doing.

Good morning all. wet here and dull but 17 degrees although still feel chilly indoors. I was so cold yesterdday that I put the heating on low for a couple of hours in the evening. turned it off when I pulled the curtains.

Nothing planned for today so probably a bit of H/W
Vera I have had several things ordered from amazon that have gone through the letterbox. due, I think to them now usung stiff cardboard 'envelopes' for packaging instead of cardboard boxes. Much easier.
