AnninGlos Report 5 Sep 2025 19:43

Ann my leg is definitely better than it was a week ago although still not right. But this time last week I didn’t move from the house. I would never have got to the bus let alone into town.

My dermatologist appointment is March 2026.

Annx Report 5 Sep 2025 17:28

Afternoon All,

I intended to post last night when I got home from meeting Fitz for lunch, but I was so tired I went to bed sooner than usual. I've just not got the stamina some of you have. This morning I had a lie in and then have been searching for a copper wire pendant I took to show Fitz that I wired a beaded dragonfly into the centre. I think I must have dropped it somewhere as I can't find it and have looked in the car as well. It was only a practice one, so not perfect, but Fitz asked me to send him a photo of it, so I've been hunting for a photo I hope I took a few years ago. I also took 'Sidney', the wool felted mouse I made a few years ago. During the bedroom clearout I had a few months ago, I decided to throw him away, then put him in the charity shop pile. When I told OH he was going, as he gets dusty, he really wanted me to keep him so I have now. Fitz now wants me to make one for his 80th birthday in a couple of years. I hope I still remember how to do it, but at least I've plenty of time to get it done. Fitz looked well since having his second hip replacement, has lost three stones in weight and doesn't need a stick now. He is off to visit Jane's husband Chris shortly and Janice and her husband and Hannah and family. I had an itchy shin and ankle in the night and discovered bites this morning and one on the other ankle.

We've had a notification we'll be getting a food waste bin next Spring. We don't need yet another bin to find a space for. At present we put the little food waste we have in polythene bags from deliveries and tie them so there's no smell in our bin, but I doubt we can with these new bins. I've no idea how big it will be, but handbag size would be big enough for us.

That was handy seeing both the paramedic and chiropodist so it was just the one trip out Mel. The antibiotics should hopefully soon clear it up.

Good news the car passed it's MOT Mandy. It's my turn next week.

I keep meaning to ask if you managed to sort out the appointment with the dermatologist AnnG? Is your leg slowly getting better now do you think? I froze in bed with my knee half bent last night. The dreaded cramp! Luckily I managed to slowly lower it, but the muscle still feels sore.

I remember Vera was going to Hatfield House. I hope her tummy troubles aren't back again and that her OH's twisted knee has settled down.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Sep 2025 16:08

Anng BIL took me to have my nails cut and I saw the paramedic after that. I have had lunch andtaken the first two capsules.

Now where is our Annx. I get so worried we we don't hear from someone for a day or two I just hope they have been busy.

AnninGlos Report 5 Sep 2025 13:00

It was yesterday that I referred to and I have remembered that Vera was on a coach trip then so it is only ann we don't know about. even when the fence person is there Vera usually pops in but she often comes on here later in the day so no worries.
That was good that you managed to seee the paramedic. did somebody give you a lift to the doctors Mel. Hope the antibiotics work.

I have completed my Tesco order and done another admin job, done a load of washing, walked (slowly) down to the book stall and collected 6 books for the next month, had coffee then planted to Potentilla into the garden. Had to get out a load og geranium (hardy) roots first. Leg id aching a bit now but these things have to be done, nobody else will do them. resting now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Sep 2025 12:36

Yes I think so Gwyn if it was dry he cold come she'll be glazd to get that job done and out of the way as she has been waiting a long time to get it done.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Sep 2025 12:34

Back from the doctors and the toe doc and managed to see the paramedic chap. He listended to my chest and said there was a bit of stuff in the bottom of my lungs and he gave me a script for some antibiotics which I have had before. Theres only 6 in the packet and I am to take two the first day and one on the next couple of days. when I have had antibiotics before its been a 10 day course.

Still I feel better having seen someone.

Morning all,

Nice clear bright morning after all the heavy showers yesterday ,just hung a full line of washing out .

Yesterday was a busy day ,I didn't sleep very well and we had to go out early to pick son up as his car went into the garage for its mot and I think it was on my mind about not over sleeping ,the car passed so that was good ,it's still in the garage for a few little jobs to be done ,he's using Jakes car while his is in .
After picking him up and dropping him home we did our shopping and the rest of the day seemed to just go and I was to tired to post but I see it was a quiet day on here .

Good morning all. 0nly 10 degrees here so very autumnal Quite bright though so hopefully the heavy showers have passed over. This was a quiet little thread yesterday. No Ann, Mandy or Vera (were you all having a party somewhere?) I hope that you are all ok. And Mel and I only flitted in and out briefly. Must have been all that rain washed us away.

Mel, hope you managed a good nights sleep after your nap in the day.
I slept quite well, woke twice for the loo, dreaming a lot though. The first day this week I have nothing planned. I already have washing in the machine. I must get my Tesco order sorted for tomorrow's delivery.

Morning girls,

Bright at the mo here and 12 degrees so quite a chilly morning and pc is saying light rain so that will make a change. We've had so much rain that it has filled the big pond up by 4 inches.

I have the foot doctor on Friday and I am hoping BIL can take me. Hope you feel better abit later on Anng.

AnninGlos Report 4 Sep 2025 07:52

Good morning all. very dull out there and drizzly 13 degrees. I have to go in by bus to gloucester this morning for a chiropodist appointment. I hope I am not going to get too wet. I didn't sleep that well last night so feel a bit muzzy this morning.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Sep 2025 21:49

Stu rang late afternoon and said he could come to dinner. I had been painting miniture barrels so quickly had to tidy up and get a dinner onthe go. I did sausages, my runners and mash and garlic button mushrooms with nice gravy and it went down a treat. I used the LARGE elephant garlic with the mushrooms which my neighbour gave me and they turned out lovely and I only used half the clove. I'm thinking garlic mayo with the other half.

Sounds lie the visit worked out well with the weather Anng. We had a huge clap of thunder this afternoon as I was ironing but nothing more just rain.

AnninGlos Report 3 Sep 2025 17:34

Fortunately it stayed dry when we were walking around the butterfly garden and rained as we walked in for coffee. We did meet with the spinning ladies again and have arranged to see them the end of the month when they say they can teach us to crochet. We shall see..
Then while we were at the meeting this afternoon in the other local garden centre we had several heavy cloud bursts which found or the leak spots in the overhead glass roofing over tender plants. Luckily not over the restaurant where we were.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 3 Sep 2025 16:56

Good afternoon all

Oh dear Gwyn, that bout of pneumonia really has affected you badly. I hope the medical team can sort you out soon. You want to be fit to face the winter weather when it comes. Keep warm and look after yourself in this changeable weather. You have something nice to look forward to with a wedding and meeting up with family from NZ.

It’s been very wet and quite windy here today. I hope your visit to the butterfly place wasn’t too soggy AnnG and your friend enjoyed it. I will be taking a cagoule and a brolly with me when we go to Hatfield House tomorrow. I suspect we’ll be spending more time in the house than the grounds and parkland.

Son rang this morning and we had a long chat which was good. He’s got this week off work and has been doing a bit of building work on his house but is now on a 3 day fishing trip, camping somewhere along the Avon river. He said F is now settled in HK. She wasn’t sure what sort of accommodation Disney would provide for her but she has been put in a small suite in a hotel. She has a large room with a sleeping and a sitting area, a small kitchenette and a bathroom on the 15th floor, overlooking a park. She now has 3 weeks of rehearsals.

As we have had rain on and off every day this week our fence is still not finished. Painter rang Monday morning and said that Friday looks as though it might be dry so he’ll come then. To think a couple of weeks ago I wanted it to rain and now all I want is a dry day. Never satisfied are we.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 3 Sep 2025 10:17

Good morning all, although it can hardly be called good, when looking out of the window!
It's wild, wet and very, very windy with bursts of howling wind forcing the rain right up under the large porch area, to the side of the house.
September has certainly brought a change in our weather here :-0

It's been a really busy time lately here.
Monday we had smart meters fitted- not by choice :-| but because the signal will be switched off. They are sited in the garage, so we had to make space for the worker to have room. Goodness, what a lot of stuff was stashed in the garage. Alot has now gone, either in the bin or to a charity shop and now we are on a roll to get rid of a lot more 'surplus to requirement' items, so we have more space for what we want to keep.
I've still got lingering issues, after my bout of pneumonia, so that meant another echocariogram and also a CT scan with dye injection last week. I have some phone calls booked with the hospital team later this month, so we'll see what they have to say about the results then. Like AnnG, I don't always hear too well on the phone, but hopefully I will manage OK.
Who would have thought that nearly 4 months on, there would still be effects? :-0 :-|

Local school started back on Monday.
I will give the new children time to settle into their new class, before I go over to help.It will be good to see all the staff again too.

Next week, we will meet up with OH's sister-in-law and niece, who are coming over from NZ for a family wedding and staying a couple of days at my son's house. He has most room and spare bedrooms ;-) It will be great to see them again and chat over a meal.

Strange isn't it? Day to day here is fairly routine, then suddenly there is so much happening in the space of 2 weeks.

Wishing you all a good day.
The sun has just come out. Things are looking up :-D
