Glad you got the car sorted in the end Mel, any news on another one yet .

Anng what a shame its going to be a wet visit to the butterfly place this time it does sound a lovely place with so much going on there .

A day of catching up with inside jobs I think ,ironing to do and a dust and hoover to start with then we'll see what else we can find

All back to school here today .

Morning all you lovely girls,

When I logged in this morning there were no avatars on our posts but they appeared after reading Anng's post. Its dull and dreary and pc says rain coming later and its 16 degrees.

Cars all sorted now Em and Ed came yesterday evening and Ed did it straight away no bother. Yes I do have 0's in the number plate but I don't think that was the problem. I was probably putting the wrong numbers in the wrong places as you had to have numbers off the log book and the tax renewal paper. They just don't make it very clear on the form you fill in. Ed had two vintage cars which I think he only taxes in the summer sometimes and then they are locked away in a nice warm garage so I think he knows just what to do. He has an old Austin pickup in a lovely soft green and a Vauxaul the same as I learnt to drive in when I was 18.

Good morning all. what a horrible morning it looks to be too. 15 degrees but a very low grey sky and raining. This morning it is a re- visit to the Butterfly garden for a couple of us to take a friends to see what she missed. I think we will be shower dodging Then this afternoon it is a meeting of our new ladies U3a group being held at the local garden centre to discuss further plans. At least that will be in the dry.

Mel, do you have the letter O or the number 0 in your registration number. It’s very easy to press the wrong one by mistake. We have both the letter and the number on our number plate and I’ve got caught out more than once.

Annx Report 2 Sep 2025 21:31

That is strange Ed doing the form was accepted Mel, but these things get so complicated it's easy to catch a key a bit different. I often have to put a password or code in again. You only get whole months tax back as far as I remember so I think you will lose this month. OH gets fed up with all the different email systems the schools use that he has to log onto, as well as different online video meetings. He has them on Zoom, Teams and Googlemeet now. He'd set one up for a meeting this morning and couldn't find the link anywhere to click onto for himself and he'd set up the meeting! In the end he had to set up a fresh meeting 15 minutes before it was due to start and he got a link then. The trouble is when you don't know what you did wrong you don't know whether it will go wrong the next time!

AnnG it's not easy walking when you limp or hobble is it and it gets very tiring. I hope your leg soon improves. When we order our meds online we have to wait 3 working days before we collecrt them. They used to have them made up ready for us at first, but now we usually have to wait while they do it and often have to go back again for some meds. I don't think they keep much in stock. I had to ring our surgery today as I had another request to book a flu jab and I've already booked one. I also needed to ask for more of a tablet I will run out of before it will allow me to book it online. My prescription for it was increased in January when I saw the doctor, but it never got changed online! Now I have to wait for them to contact me. Everything seems to be a right faff nowadays!

I must have a peep online at Bon Marche Mandy. I went to a garden centre this morning that Has an Edinburgh Mill outlet and it was all taped off like a police scene as they were stocktaking and shoppers weren't allowed in! It's good when you can find something when the sales are on.

How strange. But I am sure these on line forms are set to be as complicated as possible especially gov ones. I was trying to register again for postal vote on line. It kept throwing me out so I requested a paper form. It will cost me postage but it was just very frustrating.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2025 18:52

Em and Ed have just been round and Ed did it first time now why could'nt I do it. I have probably lost a months tax now.

Still its done now so thats one less thing to worry about.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 Sep 2025 16:31

You are not trying to back date it I assume Mel. It says you can’t do that. Does it give any indication why it won’t take the numbers?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2025 16:08

Another day has gone by and I still can't get my car registered for SORN to get my road tax refund. It won't accept any of the numbers I put in even from the tax reminder or the log book. I have 8 months of tax to come back.

True Mel, it all depends if I can manage the phone call with my hearing (or lack of it).

Afternoon all,

Just had a shower of rain but all morning it's been nice and sunny and quite warm ,we walked up town and got a few bits ,also went into Bon Marche as they have 20% off everything u til Thursday, got a pair of the slim leg black Jeans and a pair of PJ's that were in the sale ,I haven't had a pair PJ's for years but thought I'd try a pair and these were quit pretty .

Mel I echo what the others have said ,I'd just get a check over it could be the start of a chest Infection .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2025 15:10

At least you won't have to walk round there twice Anng if they will accept a phone call to order it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 Sep 2025 14:28

Please Mel still get an appointment and somebody to take youAnd please try and keep the smoking to a minimum. It is good that you are breathing more easily, but it could have been a warning.

I managed to walk (limp) round to the hairdressers this morning, a bit painful but (with stiack) I managed. And I think my leg is better than it was at the weekend.

On Monday I dropped a letter to Said in the surgery to tell him I had not had a blood test yet and only had a week of pills left. I asked him, as my Pathway prescription has run out could he issue a one off prescription. As I was round there, although it was only one day, I decided to check with the Pharmacy. Lo and behold he has issued another year of Pathway.  Needless to say nobody has thought to let me know from the surgery so it was a good job I checked. I suppose they will send a blood test appointment eventually. I know things are all behind as the phlebotomists at Gloucester royal are on a series of strikes.

And the pharmacy are going to a new 'something or other', I assume IT) and you can no longer wait for the prescription to be made up (which has always been the case since we moved here) It has to be taken in and collected the following day (Progress? Benefit of the customer?) When I said about walking round twice, she did say to phone it in and collect the next day.

I think you are right about shopping online AnnG. The high parking charges in cities and lack of available parking elsewhere puts motorists off so they shop online instead too. Then of course the NI increase for employers and them reducing staff must have an impact on them only stocking what they think will sell well which means less of a selection. None of it is good news.

Mel, those are wise words from Gwyn and AnnG and I think anyone you know wouldn't mind popping you to a doctor's appointment if they could. I only know some by sight or a wave in our close, but would only be too happy to help if they couldn't get themselves to the doctor's. It's best to get checked out and not leave it. I hadn't realised you had a cough as well and naughty girl you shouldn't be smoking should you.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2025 12:43

Mel,
Please phone someone to take you for help.
You've obviously not been well, when you've said you needed to sleep in the afternoon and not felt like doing anything.
Don't push yourself to do more than your body is able.
By getting medical advice and perhaps medication soon, you might save yourself from many more days of feeling rough.
It's such a horrible feeling not being able to breathe properly.
Please phone someone soon to get you help.

Just lost a long post, before rewriting this.
I'll try to come back...
