I don't think either Norton or Macafie are free Mel.

He'ss on his way as I have just had an email telling me. I want to ask if I can delete some of the spam emails I am not sure about too. I was told on the phone that Norton anti virus is McCafie but I get loads of those come through saying I need to pay. Oh used to have McCafie.

Afternoon All,

A dull start again but it's up to 14 degrees now. I sprayed a few more weeds that are trapped between the rocks and have tried some on the swiftly spreading lilies of the valley encroaching from next door. There'sa two foot wide strip of them ten foot long advancing now. Then I showered and went to the garden centre but I couldn't find any small bags of compost and couldn't decide whether to get some runners or which plants to get for the remaining pots! I called at the shop which has less on the shelves each time now and got some mushrooms to go in the stir fry today and other bits.

OH has been to a council meeting and we both went outside when he got back and wheeled the garden bin round to the front ready for collection tomorrow and we did some weeding on the front to top it up as well. I noticed some new patches of the nasty weed coming through, so will get that sprayed later.

I thought you told me you'd tried switching it off when I asked Mel? Anyway, if that's all that's needed it will only take a few minutes when the man comes and won't cost you if you have a contract to fix these things.

AnnG I think our Civil Service experience taught us to manage things with lists and be organised ahead if that makes sense, so I pack what I'm sure I'll need early so I can forget about those items. I have a list on my desk now so I prioritise things that have to be done by a certain date.

Better get on with lunch now!

Oils come and I was in the bathroom and had decided to have a good wash instead of my shower and he came just as I had finished so I had to run to the bedroom to dress. Anyway thats sorted now and I am three quarters full. Now I just have to wait for the bt man to come and I hope he does and then the rest of the day is mine. :-D

O and its my sons birthdya today. Happy Birthday Son. He's 56 today.

Another nice bright morning at the mo a few biggish white clouds in the sky and its 14 degrees and says mostly sunny.

Now let hope this fella comes today to see about the pc as now Echo won't connect to the net. She is saying the wrong time and says she can't connect and telling me to turn the modem off and unplug her for thirty seconds but I am frightened to do it incase I lose you lot again. I also have 54 spam emails this morning.

OIl is also suppose to come today and they never give you a time so I better get myself going and jump in the shower.

Good morning all Just got in 5 minuted ago, started trying just after 0600 but only tried every 15 minutes I am thinking that maybe GR poers down overnight to save money and it is just the luck of the draw how long it takes to overcome the error message. Not a problem I have other things I can do while waiting.

Ann yes it does seem we are alike with our pre holiday packing. I also have a list of things that I need to do before going away. I have always been a list person. and yes I am similar, I have had top clothes hanging in the spare room for several days so I can marry up colours to make more than one or two outfits out of fewer basisic clothes. Plus the mix of hot, cold, wet and indifferent weather clothes. :-D

and I have to take a small case as with three of us small cases and several squashy bags are easier to fit in the boot of the car.

I'm like you AnnG and have lists and start packing a few days or even a week before. I like to deal with the things I can so there is less to remember and think about nearer the time. Like you first underwear goes in, then nightwear and little slippers I take and some basic clothing, camera equipment and charger, books etc. I move clothing I plan to take to one end of the wardrobe to decide last minute. OH only packs on the morning we leave!! I think it's easier for men though as they don't have all the different colours and choices of what they wear. He tends to be more efficient with everything, including his work if there is a deadline! lol.

It sounds like the Wrens gave up on their nest then Mel. It's good the Swallows have eggs though. The Magpies here were still bringing food, but were looking thinner themselves I thought today. It must be hard work keeping the hungry babies fed. You have been busy with the strimmer lately, keeping the place tidy. I hope they bring the right size oil tanker for you tomorrow. Asda still haven't managed to unblock me from entering their site due to the cloudflare security they use, but are sending me reminders about starting my next order. :-S

That was a good saving on your plants Vera and it all helps. I like the small Dahlias and have a few of the hardy Fuschias in the garden. I must get out there and do a bit in the morning.

I have just cleared the bit off the decking down to the oil tank. You could' nt see there were paving slabs down there for grass and big weeds which I sprayed a week or so ago. I have a whole trailer full that came off of that one small piece. The docks had been in there forever and had pushed the paving sideways.

We all have our differenet ways of doing things the way they suit us. It would be a sad world if we were all the same. :-D

I have to have time to think and change my mind Vera, especially in this country with the ever changing weather. I have never been last minute anything. I need to be able to plan and weigh up the situation. we would not get on very well would we. Luckily T was a bit like me. We never took a holiday that we had not planned and booked months in advance either. :-D

Isn’t it funny how we all have a different routine? If we are going away I sort out what clothes we are taking 2 or 3 days in advance but that’s mainly so I can make sure they are all clean. Otherwise I am a last minute packer. I seem to be quicker and more efficient if I have a deadline.

Good your nest has 5 eggs Mel. I hope they all hatch and survive.

Mandy, our Roy’s doesn’t have a very big plant section though I have picked up the odd nice plant there and would have had a look if we hadn’t found what we wanted at the local garden centre. I wanted to go there first as I have a loyalty card that gives me discounts on some things and I also had a free voucher for £5 they had emailed me. We bought 2 packs of 6 of the small annual dahlias and 2 fuchsia plants. With my voucher and an offer on the dahlias for card holders we got roughly 20% off the bill.

I do have a routine, always have had. I have a list of stuff to pack and today is what I call prepack day when I sort out all the none clothes stuff. tomorrow I will pack but leave the case open to stop stuff creasing. underwear is already packed.

I have kept meaning to say since yesterday that there are 5 eggs in a nest in the filter shed so the Swallows have taken over the second nest they build the other year and not bothered with the first nest that Jenny Wren's hubby had built in there. I wonder if they knew??? I had removed it giving the Swallows the chance to build that one up.

Not going in there much now I know there are eggs and she flies out when BIL went in yesterday.

Good news on the sweet pea front they survived the night.

I have just strimmed along the back field and round by the fuel tank because the oil comes tomorrow. Battery needs charging now and so do I I think. Not eaten yet only had a coffee and a glass of water with a pill.

Well I had to put my tomatoes out and so far they have been OK. Lost two but they were really causalties of being left in the conservatory when I went out and the sun came out and they overheated.

Yes, chasing my tail here. It is not really the clothes, it is all the bits and pieces I like to have with me, plus first aid stuff, pills etc and 'just in case' items. I like to be independent not having to bother daughter for her stuff. I have a small case for clothes and a seperate bag for shampoo, shower gell, sun cream, books was kit, makeup bag. and then a small rucsac for electronic stuff. And a carrier bag for shoes.

clothes will be done tomorrow.

Afternoon All,

It's cooler here and only 14 degrees at the moment but the sun is breaking through now. I got up late and OH had already been for a walk. He's finding footpaths across the back of the school and even the one where they found the poor young girl that Cplon Pitchfork murdered now he's not using the Fosse Way path and the field where the cows are. The farmer's brought another three cows to the field now so there are thirteen. When I used to do a three mile walk most days, being a woman on my own I didn't feel safe using the footpaths, which are quite hidden in parts , so would do a circuit around the village instead.

It sounds like tyou are going to be busy tmaking a start on preparations AnnG.

I think am having a fairly lazy day like Mandy, having decided to leave the garden centre visit till tomorrow. I need to check a medicine cabinet will fit where I want in the ensuite first.

OH got a taxt yesterday fom SKY apologising for the issues Mandy, but no explanation what was wrong.

I hope your daughter enjoys the walk Vera. It is good she is doing it to help the Hospice too. Yes good luck with finding some nice Fuschias at the garden centre.

I hope your sweet peas were ok Mel. I've taken a bit of a chance with planting up the pots the other day.

Suns out but it's still not very warm , when the sun goes behind the clouds its quite chilly in the wind I did sit out but not for long and I now have a cardi on .

Its another beautiful day here and its 19 degrees at the mo but it was very starry and cold last night and I had put my sweet peas seedlings out on the strawberry barrow and forgot to take them back in the shed last night. Not been out yet as when I have a hard day in the garden doing things I very wake early and then go back to sleep for a while and that while turns into hours.

Hope you find your fuchsias at the garden centred Vera. Good idea to try Roys if Mandy got soem there.

Right I need to get my bedding in the wash now like Anng.

Cloudy here but bright not sure if its a bit warmer out as I haven't been out yet but I think we should see a little sun later .

Vera I bought a couple of Hardy fuschias from Roys they had a lot of different ones in there .

Not doing much today after a busy week ,hope the sun shines so we can sit in the garden .

Good morning all

It’s not cold today but it is cloudy. It’s the same where daughter is which I am pleased about as she is doing a walk in aid of the hospice that was so good to her late partner and the whole family. The cloudier conditions are better for walking than bright sunshine.

I slept quite well last night though I still woke up with the pain over one half of my head. It seems to be a permanent feature now. I’m not complaining as the rest of me feels OK today. A few hours sleep makes such a big difference.

We don’t have any plans for today. We might go to the local garden centre to see what they have in the way of fuchsias. We want 2 for a strip beside our garage as we took out a green plant that was on its last legs and a pretty white fuchsia was moved round to the garden to replace a plant that had died. We can’t see this strip but the neighbours and anyone coming up the Close can so we try to keep it looking nice.
