A face to face would have been better Mel so they could actually see your foot ,how are they going to know if you've done any damage ,it's all phone calls now .
Anng I haven't spoken to Jake just son and he just said he'd failed on the one question so no idea what the question was ,I suppose next time it will be different set of questions again .
Well cleaned the shower and put some plughole cleaner down the plug hole and the basin plug hole just need to leave it all day to work , the water was slowing up draining away I think its hair in the shower and Colin shaving that clogs it .
Oh oh suns out

Hope you can get a reply from the doctr soon Mel, has it only just swollen? That could have been if you were walking on it yesterday. Maybe they will send you for an Xray.
Mandy does Jake know which question he got wrong? Or do they just tell them they had a question wrong? My internet was down for an hour, it kept implying that it was my Wifi but I guess it could be something to do with the weather.

good morning all it is 12 degrees here, very dull and PC says rain is coming. It is very windy as well. Mandy the Range do seem to put their stuff all close together. It is normally OK although maybe not the place to go if you know there is a lot of flu or covid in the area. they do have some good stuff though so worth going when it is not half term or other busy times. I bet your cakes do disappear quickly as they have a big growing (hungry) family. Lucky for them that you like baking. Oh poor Jake, does the theory test have to be 100$ correct then. that is hard.

Evening all,
It was suppose to be milder today but it wasn't here ,the wind was quite strong which made it cold out .
We went o Aldi for our shopping and called in the Range to have a look too , lots of nice things in there but we never looked upstairs where all the lighting and craft stuff was ,by the time we looked round the bottom floor we had had enough so we'll do that another day ,everytime we stopped to look at something people wanted to come past, I think there's to much in there and not enough room to stop and look .
Vera I hope the chap soon gets back to you with his quote and you get the boarding down so the plumber can then do his bit and cure the smell ,your OH must have done a good job if it's lasted ten years ,he sounds just like Colin he'd say I can go up there and do that , and I have to say yes ten years ago you could have but not now .
Mel thats good you'd foot seems better, just be careful when you drive to the shop on Saturday, I don't know which foot you hurt but its either brake or clutch and pressure might upset it again .
Gwyn sounds as if you enjoyed your day out with your daughters .
Anng your right about the dark days don't encourage housework ,roll on the better weather with some nice sunshine .
Ann thats good you didn't get caught up in any traffic ,probably not as much this week being half term . Was there any bargains in the factory shop ,haven't been to ours lately . We saw son and family in the Range this morning and he said cakes were lovely ,half gone already . We dropped the cakes in yesterday and Jake was then setting off for his driving lesson He had been to Norwich with his mum on the bus that morning as he had to sit his Theory test , he failed on one question so now he has to book another one .

Well the visit to the factory shop was disappointing. They have hugely reduced their stock and have almost no menswear now. OH used to get some good quality shirts from there once, but there are none anymore. I did get a pack of the soft grip socks I wear, but there were only 2 other packs left. There were none of the plastic basket weave baskets we wanted to carry OH's meds in, so the only other thing I got was some dishwasher cleaner. I may be wrong, but I got the impression they may be winding down ready to close! On the way back we called at a garden centre we were passing and found a right size basket there and we had two skinny decaf lattes while we were there, only needing to pay for one as OH had enough loyalty points for the other. When we got home (in the rain!) I did a chicken and mushroom stir fry with chow mein bought sauce for lunch and we both really enjoyed it, so I'll do it again as it was so quick and easy.
It sounds like your foot is getting better Mel if yiu can move around slowly with it. Just be careful though.
I'm the same with HW on these darker days AnnG. I must do the bathroom floor but it's on the shady side of the bungalow, so needs a brighter day to show what needs cleaning properly.
I hope the quote will be ok for the work Vera. I have lost track of costs for things and what is good value now as prices just keep going up. It will be nice tomorrow to meet up for a friend's 80th birthday. :-)

We seem to have similar weather to the rest of you. It’s wet and very windy and about 13 degrees but you wouldn’t know it. Weather app says it is 13 but feels like 5 degrees. We had a nice treat first thing this morning before the rain really set in. There were 4 jays in our little garden. They are the first jays we have seen around here and to get 4 at once was amazing. They are such pretty, colourful birds.
Gwyn, I don’t like charges to enter churches and cathedrals either, though I understand why. I know you can get in free if you are going for private prayer but I have no idea how you would prove that is what you are going in for. I believe it is currently £26 admission to St Paul’s which is a lot of money. Our local cathedral is Bury St Edmunds and they do not charge entry but it apparently costs about £3000 a day to keep it open and I doubt if that gets covered by voluntary donations.
Mel, the smell here was horrid at first but now it isn’t at all noticeable most of the time. It comes and goes and as soon as we think we can smell it a bit we put the fan on in my en-suite for an hour and it mostly wafts it away. We can live comfortably like this but the job has got to be done and we want it done as soon as possible in case it suddenly gets worse. We are still waiting for this handyman to get back to us with a quote. I expect OH will call him if we haven’t heard by tomorrow. I’m glad your foot is feeling a bit easier but take it easy for a few more days.
We went for our usual Thursday coffee meet which was very pleasant and we put the world to rights between us. Tomorrow several of us ladies are having lunch out to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of us.
Time to go and sort out some veg to go with tonight’s smoked haddock. The migraine I had kept me away from alcohol for several days but I might even risk a pre-dinner glass of something tonight ;-)

Foot seems a bit easier again today and I am wslking about the house without the walker and if I go slowly thats ok. I have to go round to the girls again with a bit of corn for them but its raining at the mo. Pc is telling me rain on Sunday and its still 13 degrees here.
I have done some ironing but my back is aching now so I am having a sit down. Might make a drink.

Still raining here and 13 degrees now. I have dusted the lounge and dining room and done the floors not that it was very dirty down there. I have also sorted most of the food order for Saturday. Probably make some cards next, maybe give the bathroom a clean. This weather doesn't really encourage Housework as everywhere is so dark.

Morning all,
Did'nt wake till late again this morning and its a horrible day much like most of you have with wind and lashing rain but the temp is up again today even though its dull and dreary its 13 degrees! positively mild but iv'e still turned the heating on.
Nothing doing here today so I will just do what I fancy when I fancy. Foot does feel a little better this morning but Iv'e not done the girls yet and my welly tells me if its still swollen. Elbow still quite bruised.
I do hope Vera's little handyman can sort out her probled for them as it must be awful having that kind of smell through the house.

Morning All,
A summery 12 degrees here (according to the PC) with a blustery breeze and some rain too. We got to the surgery in good time and being early the traffic hadn't built up by the roadworks. We got one of the few parking spaces too and OH soon had his blood test. He's had all his tablets, eye drops and BP checked for the chart, so we are off to the factory shop next.
It would be interesting to see the moon installation Gwyn, but I agree with you about charges. I saw Lincoln cathedral years ago when I was on a course with my job, but they charge to go in now.
Yes, more trauma last night as you say AnnG. I suppose they kill people off that they don't want coming back in the future, but there seem to be a lot going just now. Maybe there are new people coming along?
Vera it's good the man will do the job and it looks like the problem will soon be sorted for you, fingers crossed.

Dull, damp and dismal over here, but milder, so we will see how the day progresses. I don't have to go anywhere, but hope it's dry enough to make a local walk comfortable, at some point.
I remember being surprised at just how small the loft was in my friend's house. Her house was detached, ours of a very similar style and lay-out was a semi. We could store quite a bit in our loft space, whereas my friend couldn't even get a large suitcase in hers. I do hope your team of workers can rectify your problem, Vera...and quickly.
Pleasant day out with my daughters yesterday. We went to Rochester.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8xqn5pp2w2o
We went to see the moon installation there in 2020 just before Covid and had seen the world globe in Salisbury Cathedral, prior to that. I like the fact that both these cathedrals did not charge an entry fee. They have donation stations dotted around the inside area and I willingly put money in there on each visit, as the running costs for such events and upkeep of the building must be immense, but actually charging to go into a place of worship doesn't feel right to me.

Good morning all from a very wet and blustery gloucestershire. It is dark and chucking it down out there and 2 degrees, I won't be going anywhere today. Vera hope the man you have contacted makes an appearance and can do the job.
Ann, well both those soaps were not very cheerful last night and East enders was no better. Trauma all the way. I wish they would find another way of getting rid of people rather than killing them off.

The smell isn’t noticeable now but this is what happened 10 years ago. The smell kept coming and going. OH spoke to a local handyman tonight who seemed to know what he’s talking about and he’s going to get a quote to us tomorrow. OH told him how limited the space is - there’s just about room to crawl - and he didn’t seem worried by that. If we accept his quote he can’t come till Monday and then with luck the plumber will come back Tuesday.

I'm late to bed tonight AnnG, but I don't sleep well and won't as we have to be up at 7.00am for OH's fasting blood test in the morning. There were roadworks on the road to the surgery today so we need to make allowances for queuing in the morning.
Yes, the 2 soaps I watch are Emmerdale and Corrie and both have been very medical lately as you say. I thought a bit far fetched as well, as if trying to outdo each other! The ambulances in Emmerdale were quick weren't they and I was surprised they found them so easily in pitch darkness, but maybe there was only one track to the lake. Better go and set my alarm now.

No you aren't odd AnnG. My dentist used to call it root planing as well. I have receding gums too and very sensitive teeth. He used to do mine before I moved here which is 25 years ago so it isn't a new thing either.
Mel OH has had the soluble aspirin prescribed since his cardiac arrest. We order paracetamol on our Asda food order, so no need to go to shops unless we run out. Also Pharmacy2U (and other companies) prepare and deliver NHS medication to you by tracked Royal Mail postage and I think it's free. My old schoolfriend uses a delivery service and sometimes gets hers the same day. It's something I ought to look into, but I suspect you need to be home as I doubt they'd put meds through the letterbox. It sounds like a big bruise on your arm where you fellI, but don't do too much till your foot improves.
OH's trouser belt does up 4 holes shorter since 3 weeks ago due to all the weight he's lost. I'm still wondering if the 9+ tablets a day plus painkillers he is taking are affecting his taste. He's going to start doing bits to finish off some of his work that needs doing when his painkillers are helping. If he's ok, I may drive him to a council meeting he has next week as he'd like to go.
Vera, the loft at my old house was similar with sloping lofts either side of the upstairs bedrooms. They were narrow in places and you needed to crawl. I hope the local handyman will be able to help you. It can't be very nice for you with a horrid smell.
Mandy your kitchen must smell lovely with all the nice things you cook. The family must love the homemade cakes you make for them and it's good the old school cake went down well. I like a cheese scone , but like you the pastry on sausage rolls can give me indigestion too, much as I love it.
The two soaps I watch have both been a bit samey and a bit one themed this week so I hope they move on a bit tonight.
