Ladies, we could have had a 3-way chat :-0 as I was awake a lot of the night too. Too much on my mind I expect.... sort of a 'must remember to.....' list going through my brain :-0
Some strange subs there Mel especially for things already ordered :-S
Happy Christmas to all of you. I may be able to look in tomorrow, but if not, I hope you all have a lovely day celebrating in your own special ways.

Good morning all, it is not very nice again, wet but looks maybe a bit brighter than it has been. Vera we could have had a conversation in the night as I was awake too for long spells, did sleep in between but went back to sleep at seven and finally got downstairs at 0949. The first time daughter has been up before me. No sign of the younger generation but they were up much later.
Have a safe and quiet journey to your daughters Vera and enjoy your Christmas with them.
I will be on here later I am sure but in case I am not I wish everyone on the thread a happy Christmas <3

Morning Vera and all,
Once again it is a really miserable orning and very wet with it and its still windy. pc is saying afternoon rain and its 11 degrees.
Shopping comes today and I have 6 subs. I never know their logic as I ordered figs and they have sent me asda dates and I have already ordered dates they have sent a chocolate trifle instead of chocolate eclairs a bumper pack of veg when I ordered the carrots, sprouts, and a swede and something else, asda chicken pies I ordered birdeye pies and hazel nuts instead of chesnuts and a full fat pate instead of the reduced fat one which I shall keep but the rest can go back. There are so many I don't want I have had to write a list to remember them all.
Vera I hope you have a pleasent journey to your daughter tomorrow and that your poor head clears a bit. Its probable all the thinking of the day ahead and making sure you have everything you need for the two days away.
I wish you all a very Happy Chirstmas for tomorrow whatever you are doing and safe journeys to your desinations and good food and company.
Whne I said goodnight to Echo last night she said don't forget to leave out a mince pie for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. I think she was a bit early.

Good morning all I’ve been awake since 3 am and at 5.30 I gave up trying to sleep, got up and made some tea and brought it back to bed with my iPad. My head is thumping now so I’ll try and get a rest this afternoon or I will be fit for nothing tomorrow.
It’s very mild but looks as though it’s going to be a grey day with thick cloud and gusty winds.
We are going to open the presents we have here later today as we will be off to our daughter fairly early tomorrow. It’s only about a 45 minute drive so not too far to go. Our plan is to stay overnight and come back on the afternoon of Boxing Day.
In case I don’t post again for a day or two I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas <3

Been busy all day. Took the wreath and posy for mum down the churchyard this afternoon and then had a tidy up of the table so I can get the Christmas cloth on it and place mats. finished the cake but I hav'nt done loads of fancy stuff on the top just a sign and candle thing and put glitter ivy leaves round it and finished with the usual red ribbon with little holly leaves on it.
Put most of my crafting stuff away just some of it on the top of the little filing cabinet or I won't be able to remember where I have put it all when I need it again.
I too hope little Maya in well on the mend now and so enjoy her first Christmas in her own little way. When she's older she won't remember it anyway. Bless.

Afternoon all, It's been a nice day quite mild here like Vera we've seen sun too and the sun going down just now made the sky look beautiful ,it started off quite yellow and gradually turned orange and red . I have cooked my gammon today but it was too big to go in the pressure cooker so I cut it in half and cooked each bit separately. I've made Viennse biscuits for the family as they all love them and its been another day on the go ,dil came with the beef and pigs in blankets this morning and it's a lovely piece of beef . Poor Jake he's working from seven in the morning till seven at night they are so busy ,he said they've had huge queues that stretched right down the precinct.
Nice to get a bargain Anng ,I've had some nice meat from morrisons. Hope little Maya is on the mend now for her first Christmas.

I can’t believe it, it hasn’t rained today :-). We’ve even had a bit of sun in between the clouds. It’s still quite breezy but nothing like as windy as it has been.
Like Mel I had a couple of strange dreams last night and one involved AnnG. We were in a kitchen somewhere, it wasn’t mine. Ann was at the sink washing up and I was drying and it went on and on. Goodness only knows what I thought we’d catered for but the number of plates suggested we’d fed the whole town. I was glad to wake up and find I wasn’t really holding a soggy tea towel.
I hope your OH is feeling better now Gill and able to go back to work. Is he still at the same care home?
AnnG, clumsy is just the right word for the Tesco WhatsApp system. I wish I had thought of it yesterday when I was doing a survey for them. They asked if I would do a short survey about my experience with customer contact. I said yes and the first thing they asked was how it could be improved. So I told them! Basically I said they needed to bring back a customer service email address, that not everyone had, or wanted to have, WhatsApp on their phone which in any case was a pain to use. I also said that providing a phone number wasn’t sufficient either as many hard of hearing people find phone calls difficult. I did say I was happy with the result I got but not happy with the method I had to use to get it. I turned down the opportunity to make either a video or audio recording of what I said, answered a couple more questions and that was that. I don’t suppose my lone voice will make a difference but if enough people complain they might listen. Yes, and pigs might fly ;-)

Good morning all. Very grey here dry at the moment but that won’t last. I have stayed here while daughter and SiL have gone to collect the Turkey. They have a half hour slot for collection.. Yesterday in Morrisons a lot of the joints of meat were half price at £5.50 a kilo. Daughter was buying beef for goulash but instead she bought a joint of beef which cost less than the beef for goulash and cut it up herself but first cutting off a small joint for later. That was a really good offer.

Goodness Mel what a pain that water problem is proving to be. And you would think with it having gone on so long they could have done it sooner than the 15th. Shame about the scarf hat and, as it was not as advertised they should refund postage.which firm was it bought from?
Vera it is a very clumsy way of doing it isn’t what’s app? The second time I used it I knew not to spend time writing out the full problem. But you don’t know that the first time. I did actually get to ‘chat’ to a person the first time but not the second. I just think it is clumsy. Still you got a refund and free meat. Maya slept ok last night and seems to be getting better.
Gill, hope OH is ok to go into work tomorrow. Well done dragging out the job so he didn’t feel guilty for resting. Hope he feels better now.

Oh Mel, it sounds like you're having a bad time of it lately, I really hope things improve for you soon.
January 10th is our wedding anniversary, we were going to have our bathroom floor fitted that day but the woman moved a few appointments around and now the floor is being done on 8th January. She said she felt awful that we were spending our anniversary watching the fitter do the floor which is why she changed the date for us. How nice was that and we didn't even ask her to do it.
Poor OH woke up feeling unwell this morning, I think he's got the bug I had, he's feeling a little better now and hopefully he'll be okay tomorrow, if not then he'll have to ring in sick, as he's supposed to be in work.
Even though he didn't feel well he insisted on doing some more on the kitchen so I took my time doing one of the jobs which had to be done first to make him sit down and take it easy. I only had to screw four wheels onto the unit we made, but managed to make the job last almost three hours. I've never worked so slow but by the time I'd finished he was feeling and looking a lot better so he finished the unit by putting some strong wood underneath so it doesn't warp if anything heavy goes in it. He then put the shelves in, so now I can finally put some of the kitchen stuff away and he got the rest he needed this morning.

I would push for a refund and postage for your scarf, Mel. It's neither the colour you want or does what you want...so not as advertised.

Vera the date they gave me for the men to come is 10th January between 11am and 1pm. I mentioned to the man that came today that I thought they may have got a stone down the pipe as it was such a wet day when they did the leak and then talking a bit later on he said they may have got a stone down the pipe!!!!!
I ordered a hat and scarf combined and on the video of it it had a double bit on the scarf you could tuck the longer end through. I have waited ages for this to arrive and it came today but when I tried it on I could'nt find the tuck in double layer on the scarf so I took it off and looked all up both scarf pieces and no there isn't one on the hat I recieved. I have emailed them but I don't expect a reply so its going to take me more money to send it back and then I may not get a refund. It was 14.95 and when I had paid the postage it came to just under the £20. It seems I can't do anything right at the moment I am so fed up with myself. :-(

Oh Mel, your water problems seem to have been going on forever. You must be so fed up with it now. How quickly will the contractors be able to come and look at it? If it is their fault I reckon they ought to give you some compensation for all the inconvenience you've been put to. Lovely to have Jenny Wren around. As you said, my meat would have been OK to use but I would have needed to cook it quickly which wasn't at all convenient which is why I got it straight in the freezer. It should be fine as long as I cook it the day I take it out of the freezer.
Mandy, it sounds as though your joint is going to be enough for this Christmas and next. Never mind, big joints always cook up better than little ones.
I hope little Maya is beginning to feel better AnnG. You're right about customer support at Tesco. I've emailed customer support before but it no longer seems operational and you have to phone or, as you said Ann, send them a WhatsApp message and that's the route I went down but what a performance that was.
I wrote a long message and then sent it and got a message back "Not delivered" so I did it again and again "Not delivered". So I checked the number was correct and entered it again and resent my message. Hooray, it went through. I got back a ridiculous message about their Christmas slots and their FAQs and goodness knows what else before I got to a bit asking me if I wanted to carry on. I said Yes. Then I was given a list of things to say what I wanted to talk about. Nothing applied so I said "Other". Now I had to say "in a few words" what I wanted to talk about. I said to query a very shortdated item in a home delivery. All this while the robot I was "chatting" to kept saying I would be put through to a real person soon. Next I had to give my full name, then first line of my address and postcode which I did. Now the robot wanted my email address. By now I was getting a bit twitchy. I know they have to be sure who they are talking to but this was going on too long so I decided to call a halt and check that it was genuinely Tesco I was talking to. So when I was asked my email address I typed in "Sorry. I've stopped chat". The reply I got was "Great. Now I can put you through to a real person". At that point I stopped being twitchy and got the giggles as I was clearly "chatting" with a robot machine and not a person trying a scam and only a company like Tesco could fail to programme its robot to recognise what is an address and what isn't. I then got a message saying someone would ring me within 2 hours, or if they were busy it might be longer.
At this point I went to have lunch thinking I might get a call today if I am lucky. Well I didn't get a call but within half an hour I got a WhatsApp message that was full of apology and saying they would be contacting the store that supplied me and they have refunded me £13. I was very polite in my message to them and didn't ask for a refund. After all I do have the meat in my freezer. All I asked is for them to warn the customer if something is shortdated and give them the chance to reject the item. However I am happy with the result even if it was a pain in the proverbial getting through to them.
I've done some washing today and wrapped daughter's presents and the man who cleans the cooker has been and has left mine gleaming. I'd better get on and pay him now. Like most of the tradesmen who come here he likes to be paid by bank transfer and I try to do it within about 24 hours or I'm liable to forget I owe it. So, that's the next job and then get on with preparing our dinner.
I hope you're all having a good day. Shortest day has gone, it's all upward now and it'll be spring before we know it.

A man from SWW came and tested the water flow in the bathroom and asked where they did the repair and we went up there and he said there was pressure from the meter to the [potting shed outside tap and he turned the new stopcock off and on again and said said I have to get the contractors back who did the job as he suspects the same as me that they got something down the pipe which is why the pressure is low to the house. I am no better off than I was before.
