Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2025 14:40

Been trying all morning to get another thing on Ebay and the postage seems to have gone and they keep putting it up as £2.48 and I charge £4.55 signed for. Three times I tried and got intouch with Ebay and spoke to someone and I still got a message up saying they were having difficulties and to try later. Did that and it still cam eup with their postage cost on it so I put it in the title and hope it can be sorted that way.

Can't get into anything today probably because I know I am going out tonight. :-S

Afternoon all,

Lovely day after a sharp frost ,so nice to have the warmth of the sun .

Ann I'm sorry to read that OH's blood results weren't good ,here's hoping the doctor can give him some help with them , it's a devil they wanted to see him just as he had his eye appointment, hope his scan goes well tomorrow and it's not to uncomfortable for him.

Mel sounds as if you have a good choice of meals to pick from at Stuarts , he feeds you well ,what have you decided on .

Anng hope you enjoy your meeting this afternoon, sounds as if you had a good day out yesterday with a nice lunch and it sounds as if Jake is getting well with your garden jobs too.

Vera hope all goes well tomorrow with your hospital appointment for your eyes .

We went shopping today ,first we called at the co op for the television book ,then on to Tesco's to the hole in the wall for some cash it's hair cut day on Friday so we needed cash out for that ,we then went to Aldi for our shop and then Roys to collect the paint so that was our morning gone.

His scan is tomorrow afternoon Vera. He was going to go on his own, but I could tell he was a bit worried in case he had sedation so I'm going with him and will sit in the car just outside most of the time. I need to be able to get a mobile signal as I might get a call from the bathroom fitters. I can take a newspaper, a book to read or even take some knitting I keep meaning to start. I think it's lovely sitting in the conservatory this time of year too as it's lovely and warm and nice to watch the birds. It's a big job to clean all the glass and frames though.

I never trust the surgery to note he has thalassaemia trait when they do blood tests AnnG as they have forgotten before and OH never thinks to remind them. That may explain one of the issues. Looking at the doc's notes it looks like another scan will follow his next visit to the GP. When will you plant your tomato seeds? I love watching seedlings emerge in the Spring. what are the 'huks' in the graveyard??

We are off to the Hospital eye clinic soon and I will wait for him in Morrison's car park. Fingers crossed, if all is good they will discharge him and no more eyedrops to do.

Enjoy your meal Mel, nice to have a choice.........chicken for me please!

Annx, sorry I missed your post. I’m sorry to hear the blood test results were not good and hope the doctor can give OH plenty of help. Wishing him well <3

Vera check if the have a monthly meeting with speakers, you can usually go to one of those to get a feel for things. You could then ask about the groups in case something you like is buried in a title (If you know what I mean). does it have to be something that you both like?

Ann you are doing well with your sorting out. I do have some more indoor stuff to sort through.
Sorry that the blod test results were not good, hope something can be done to change that for him.

I have sorted out the trays for the planting of tomato seed. they will have to be on the window sill inside the house as the conservatory is eigher very cold or very hot at the moment no middle path. probably do that on Friday.

That was quick. A slip of a girl carried 4 heavy crates into the kitchen. We unpacked them and she was gone in no time. I’ve packed the freezer stuff and some of the fridge stuff away but still have to put all the cupboard stuff away. No subs and nothing missing.

It sounds as though your house will look great Gill with all the decorating and refurbishing you are doing.

Yesterday was a very busy day. I am still trying to give my conservatory a thorough clean. It takes forever to wash all the window and door frames and clean all the big panes of glass but I’m getting there, bit by bit.

Annx, I know you have told us but my brain doesn’t retain as much now. Is OH’s scan today? For some reason I think it is on a Wednesday. If it is today I hope it has gone or will go well and not be too uncomfortable for him.

I may not be posting tomorrow. I have another appointment at the hospital for my eyes to be checked and, depending on what they do, I can’t always see very well afterwards so won’t be looking at a screen.

Have a nice day everyone and enjoy the sun if you have got it.

SuffolkVera Report 19 Mar 2025 11:10

It’s a really beautiful day here. I’m sitting in the conservatory with the sun shining through the glass and heating the room, looking out on a complete bed of daffodils. What could be better? Well, perhaps someone to tidy up the scruffy plants and weed everywhere would be nice.

It’s nice of Stu to invite you to a meal and give you a choice of menu Mel. They are the sort of decisions I like.

That sounds a lovely day out yesterday AnnG. Enjoy your U3A talk today. I look at our local U3A occasionally but haven’t yet sorted a group that we would both like. I might have another look to see what’s available in the field of history.

I hope you are feeling better now Gill.

Back later. Tesco have just arrived with my delivery

Morning All,

More lovely sunshine, we are being spoiled, but I understand it will change at the end of the week. I have been out and filled a couple of medium humpers and the garden bin is half full now so I was pleased to get that done.

It sounds like you had a good day at the garden with friends AnnG and a good value lunch too. It's a good idea having more secure gates these days and great that Jake has cleared so much away for you. I'm going to tackle another of the drawers under the bed next!

OH had a telephone appointment this mornig following his blood test results. Not good news and she wanted him to see her and be examined this afternoon, but the time clashed with his eye clinic appointment he had such difficulty getting so he is seeing her next week now.

I forgot to take my phone with me yesterday when I went round to the chickens or outside for something and when I looked at it just before bed I had a message. It was from Stu asking if I would like dinner tonight at his and a great long menu!!!!! Even rump steak homemade chips and salad on it and chilli or chicken so now I have to decide.

Good morning all. It is a beautiful morning out there, really sunny, pale blue sky but -1 degree. Hopefully it will warm up later.
I will be picked up at 1.30 to go to the month;y meeting of U3a when we have a talk on the huks in the "graveyard" of the banks of the River Severn at Purton. Gloucester.

I am hoping to get an hour in the garden this morning although it is going to be a bit chilly if it doesn;t warm up quickly. I might get a few things planted, I have a dahlia to go in a pot and some begonias. they should be OK.

The house is called rock House Mel and it is at Elberton south glos. We didn't visit the house as it is not open to visitors just the garden and that is only open at specific times for charity. Elberton is near Aust (old Severn bridge.) The food was very nice and there was a reasonable menu.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Mar 2025 17:55

Just cooking a load of mince onions and carrot and purple spouting broccoli which should do me for tonight and some for the freezer.

Sounds like a lovely day out Anng where was this house and what wasz it called please? Did you take any photos? I would have like the jacket pot and salad but not the smoked salmon as I don't like it. Not a bad price though. was it a good menu?

AnninGlos Report 18 Mar 2025 15:43

We had a really nice trip today. 2 car loads, four in each and just us at the garden. It has been a glorious sunny blue sky day and we sat out in the garden to have the preliminary talk and then to have coffee and cake and it was really warm. Fantastic garden but not one of the 'manicured' ones. a garden of two halves. One half very big and full of daffodils, beautiful, then the garden round the house, again big, lawns and helebores, more daffodils and lots of old trees. The house is Elizabethan proobably needs a lot of maintenance (as does the garden) . It originally belonged to the man's Grandfather, then he lived there with his parents and then with his wife when they married. those of us who went in to the loo could not believe how full of furniture and "stuff" it is. I suspect there is something to be gained by moving occasionally when you get rid of stuff, but nobody has actually moved from the house. Very nice people plus the friend who helps with the garden visits, teas etc. All in aid of the open gardens and the tea and cake in aid of the local hospice.
Afterwards we drove along the A38 on the way back towards Gloucester and stopped at a small garden centre where we had lunch. I had really nice jacket potsto with smoked salmon and cream cheese plus a large amount of salad and coleslaw. (8.95 which I thought was really good value).. Sat taling for ages , just the four from our car the others went elswhere for lunch. I got home at 3pm. a lovely day out.

Yes Jake and his Dad did a few jobs and they are coming again on Friday to do some more. Riley made two good substantial gates for the side passage, not posh wood as I didn't need that but bigger gates than I had before with good bolts and padlocks if I need them. They also cleared all the rubbish from the passage, loads of it, Plus some stuff from the garage which is great. Friday they will gravel the passage with the pink that I have out the back as well as several other jobs.

Gill I hope you are getting over th sore throat etc and not overdoing things with the painting.

I'm still catching up with autumn jobs outside, so cleared all the old Hosta leaves and cut back a couple of shrubs, but I still need to do the back of them. I filled two medium humpers, pulled a few weeds from the gravel and that was me done outside. OH cut the dead wood from one of the hardy fuschias and came in as well then. I next sorted a narrow drawer in the bed base and found jeans I can wear now. Annoying as I bought some more recently and needn't have done. I managed to find a fleece to replace one I'm wearing but nothing for the charity shop. I bet you are pleased you can buy some smaller cropped trousers now Mandy! :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Mar 2025 15:20

I too hope Gill's throst is better and she has managed to get the wallpaper up so the new carpet can go down.

Mandy yes the phones ok and it was'nt wet when I picked it up and worked ok thank goodness. I would have had to drive up to the potting sheds in the dark thats why I left it there over night. we always use the Cuprinol Shades on the shed snd filter shed and the garage and find it very good.

Hope Anng had a good trip out and a nice lunch. I expect she'll tell us all about it when she gets home.

Done a lot of ironing this morning. I like to do things when its sunny as I don't use any leccy then with having the solar panels.

Drilled a couple of miniatures so they can be finished off now and put two lots of things on Ebay. It takes me so long to make sure I have everything right. Also took pics of other things to put on Ebay.

The suns been out all day but theres a bitterly cold quite high wind today. Its 9 degrees now with a clear blue sky.

Afternoon all,

Lovely day here with not a cloud in the sky ,Colin has started painting but round the back as we never went to get the paint for the front fence yesterday we decided we'd get it when we go shopping ,bit silly just going out for the paint when we go past Roys on shopping day and could pick it up then.

I had a bit of a sweep in front of the shed ,lots of leaves from ths trees in the churchyard ,I also had a tidy in the shed ,I was going to do a bit of gardening in the front but didn't feel like doing any so it will get done another day .

Gill I hope your throat isn't to bad and you can manage to get the papering done so the carpet can go down , what else have you got to do inside .

Mel I take it your phone worked OK after leaving it outside .

Ann you are good getting these draws all sorted ,I did make a start on mine then lost the will to do anymore but I must as there's lots I need to get rid of .
I need to start looking for some new sandals and another pair of trainers ,I also need some new cropped trousers as mine are all to big now since I lost some weight .

Anng hope you've enjoyed your trip out today ,how did Jake get on yesterday did he make a start on your job list.

Vera hope your having a less hectic day today but it sounds as if you got a lot done yesterday.
You and Ann asked about the paint colour ,yes its just Seasoned Oak but this time we're using the Cuprinol shades paint ,we usually have the Ronseal fence paint but we've found it doesn't last that long and soon seems to fade and the shades paint that we have on the garden benches and the wood shed still looks good ,so we thought we'd give that a try on the fence .

Afternoon All,

A lovely sunny day today but cold out of the sun. It was nice not having to be up so early this morning and just as well as the windowcleaner turned up.

I hope your OH's back has eased a bit since the MRI Gill. I hope your throat is a bit better too as I expect you will be busy doing the wallpapering before the carpet is fitted and it will be nice to see the room finished and looking good. Are the kitchen and bathroom done now?

It's a nice day for your garden trip AnnG. I expect you may be having lunch out too to round off the trip.

We went to a garden centre this morning and had nice breakfast baps with our choice of 3 fillings. We thought we'd have a look at their little greenhouses they used to have, only found they don't have them anymore and have mostly sheds and garden rooms now. We then went to another village that has a large shoe warehouse as OH wants to get some new trainers for walking, but he didn't see anything he liked and has decided he may already have some in a box in his wardrobe he should look for first. He's gone for a short walk now.

I am sorting again, another drawer and might go outside and may start doing a bit of cutting back and weed a few bits till my back says no more.

Its a nice bright morning at the mo so I am hoping it stays that way it 4 degrees and pc says feels like -5 and mostly cloudy. Theres no sign of frost so not sure if we had one or not.
