Mel probably because when you said this……….,,’’I want to do some cooking today to use up Christmas food in the freezer that did'nt get cooked.’ We misunderstood. :-)

I don't know why you thought I was going to cook all the stuff in the freezer. It was bought so I could give Stu some meals he dos'nt cook and we were going to have our own little Christmas dinner after Christmas. I stocked up when I went to Morrisons as I do like to choose my own meat. When you get it from Asda they people who pick the orders just pick up the first one they see.

I decided not to make the pigs in blankets and am going to do sausage rolls instead.

It was very nice of Cynth to wait for you and bring you home Anng. Sounds like you had a bit of a bad time today at least its over now for a while.

I tried to ring the library today to get my books renewed as they were due back just before Christmas and then I was whisked off to hospital and then it was the weekend and today I just could'nt get an answer after holding on for qite a while. Of course they said ring later and I forgot. I shall probably have a hefty fine now.

Oh no not our Frank RIP Frank what a character you were you kept us amused at times and I use to tease you about having a nice crab as you loved a crab ,

Stocked up with shopping and it was a lovely sunny day to go out ,got Lewis a nice pair of jogging bottoms with a matching top ready for his birthday on the 15th and there was 25% off children's clothing so that was good .

I had to laugh as we got caught up in a lot of traffic and I said to Colin " was is all the hold up " his reply was " mainly elastic " :-D

SuffolkVera Report 7 Jan 2026 16:20

That is sad news. RIP Frank. I’ll always associate him with the words MORE EXPENSE. I hope Roz is managing OK.

Poor you AnnG. It sounds as though your visit to the dentist was a bit of an ordeal. It’s good that Cynth was able to wait for you. I hope your daughter had a good journey home.

Why do you need to get all your pre-Christmas food cooked Mel? If it’s frozen it will be safe to leave and just cook bits when you need them. I’ve got a turkey breast and a half leg of lamb that have been in my freezer since before Christmas 2024. That was good of Em to bring you some soup for your lunch.

Annx, I hope your tummy pain has cleared up. It’s horrid when you are in pain at night and can’t sleep. I didn’t sleep much either. If I wasn’t coughing myself I was listening to OH coughing in his room. Did you get out to get some bits from the shops? We will have to go early tomorrow I think as the weather from tomorrow on looks horrid. At the moment we are on a yellow warning of heavy rain and possible flooding for tomorrow and then several days of rain, sleet or snow.. I can’t wait :-(

I had a busy day yesterday. I gave the hall and lounge, where we had taken down decs, a thorough clean and then did some cooking. At the back of the fridge I had found a large unopened pack of cream cheese that was just reaching its best before date. I looked through the cupboards to see what else I had got and ended up making 1 large and 1 small orange flavoured cheesecake plus 6 individual little pots of cheesecake mix without the biscuit base. We ate 1 little pot each and the rest are in the freezer.

OH took me to the chiropodist today and waited in the reception area while I had my feet sorted. We both wore masks so we didn’t breathe germs over anyone. It felt quite strange as it’s a long while since we’ve needed to use masks.

I’m now going to ring a friend who’s invited us for coffee on Friday. We had accepted but we’re not going to risk it while we still have colds. They are both vulnerable but particularly the husband who has heart and lung problems and has to use oxygen all the time. What’s a slight infection to us could put him in hospital.

The snow disappeared with overnight rain but it still feels very cold. It’s supposed to be 3 degrees at the moment but it’s quite windy and that’s making it feel a lot colder. Keep warm everyone, enjoy what’s left of the day and sleep well tonight.

I am going to cook it as I need it I am only cooking the sausages today to put back in the freezer and use some for tomorrows dinner with mash and sprouts. The rest will be pigs in blankets for a later date.

I had a feeling about our Frank. Poor Ros it was her first Christmas without him but I did know he was in a home from the conversation I had with her a while ago. RIP our lovely man. <3 <3

It seems to be getting dark early tonight to me.

Yes Ann it was the second half mouth of the deep clean and was a lot more unpleasant than the first. I think he was digging deeper as even though I had a load of injections (I lost count, He still hit a nerve in a lower front toothe which is when he believed what I had told him. two of those lower teeth have crossed nerves so, when he thinks he has injected for one on the left it causes pain in one further right so he gave it another blast od injections. thankfully Cynth waited with me and brought me home, I would not have had the energy to walk I don't think.

I hope that your tummy pain has gone now, sometimes if I have overdone a stretch for something I wake in the night with a pain in my stomach, weird isn't it?

Downstairs is ready for the meeting tomorrow now, all tidy, disted and floor cleaned.

Gwyn yes thank you they got hole at 1.30 and had a good run with no hold ups, so different to Monday. I could not believe the number of lorries on Monday sometimes three abreast on the 4 lane stretch.

Mel, I would have though it would be better to leave stuff in the freezer and cook it when you need it.

Oh that is sad news about Frank.
Quite a character, as you say.

Mel, If they are in the freezer won't some of them keep better in there until you need them?
We have a small gammon joint in the fridge ready to make into several meals. We find we can make quite a range of different meals with the lean meat.
Lovely to be given some homemade soup- very warming, that was kind of Em.
Hope you are feeling better now.

Daughter had to go out for a work meeting today. It involved quite a journey on the motorway, so I was pleased to see her safely home a short while ago.
I hope AnnG's family have a good safe journey home too.

For those not feeling well, I hope you soon feel a lot better <3

Oh that is sad. did you hear from Roz? Hope she is coping OK. Thanks for letting us know.

I am back from the dentist, that was pretty gruelling today, he seemed to be digging deeper. I lost count of the number of injections he put in as well. Home now, Cynth waited with me.

I just had some sad news that Frank passed away in June from a stroke and dementia. What a shame as he was such a character.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jan 2026 12:56

Yes Annx I have a small shoulder of lamb, a chicken crown, a small piece of ham to cook ad some pulled pork which did'nt get cooked so I shan'nt need any shopping much this week.

Em just came round with some homemade leek and potato soup for my lunch. Both boys went back to school yesterday so getting up at 6am was a bit of a shock. She said she may have a doze after lunch.

Afternoon All,

Had a sleepless night with tummy pain. It's almost gone now and felt like when I think I pulled a muscle before. I feel tired now though. I just looked at our weather and it says severe snow warning! I've never seen that for us before and just when it has all melted. With that in mind I'm going out when OH gets back from his walk to get a few bits like Mandy. We might need to stay in if it's a lot of snow. Snow never stopped me driving in the past and I needed to with my job anyway, but it would be an unecessary risk with dodgy knees now.

You have got jobs all done AnnG . Good luck at the dentist, it's not one of those deep cleans is it? It's good Cynth will take you after climbing all those stairs.

It's good you can use the Christmas food in the freezer Mel. At least it won't be wasted.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jan 2026 11:51

Morning girls,

I think my weather is the dame as Mandy's as it rained here last night too so no snow left when I went to bed and no fresh stuff this morning.. The suns out but it took a while to break through. 6 degrees here with a moderate wind warning.

I have washing to get out of the machine too and I want to do some cooking today to use up Christmas food in the freezer that did'nt get cooked.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Jan 2026 11:51

There is always one thing..... that you have put away and can't find. I just spent ages looking for a picture I had removed temporarily from the lounge, I took down two, found one, other one not with is. Found it upstairs in a drawer. Asking myself why, this year, did I put it there :-D :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Jan 2026 11:02

good morning all. 5 degrees here and sunny, daughter left at 0740 and there was not frost which is good for their journey.

I have finished putting the decs away, packed up all the cottages this morning and the floral arrangement and thenutcrackers off the mantelpiece. so all the decs in the cupboard in the spare bedroom now. I lost count of the number of times I climbed the stairs. with the cottages for a start. Legs ache a bit. I was up at 0630 so one load of washing is washed and dried.

Just got to go and put all the ornaments etc back in place now. Dentist at 2.15, Cynth is taking me round.

Morning all,

We had some rain during the evening so by the time we went to bed the snow had all gone ,it's 2 degrees out there now so we're hoping we can go out later and get a few bits , the suns now trying to peep through .

Annx

Annx Report 6 Jan 2026 17:45

Afternoon All,

It was snowing lightly when we woke up but didn't last and most of the snow has thawed now. We are due some rain overnight and snow on Thursday.

Minus 12 is very cold Mandy so I hope it isn't coming your way. OH mentioned earlier about the Factory Shop going into administration. If they can't sell it, then it will close which will be a pity as it's the one I go to. I must pop there soon as I could do with a new kettle! When I saw Keith on the pottery programme it reminded me of their chapel renovation. It will be interesting to see the changes and how it looks now. It sounds like Keith has plenty of space for his pottery.

You have quickly got things taken down and packed AnnG. I expect all those cottages and the smaller things have to be wrapped too, so it's not a quick job. We were going to go out, but changed our minds and might pop out tomorrow instead. We need some foam pipe cover for the outside tap pipe as the temporary fix won't manage for long.

OH has been doing his tax return and then at last got through to rheumatology at the hospital and managed to speak to a helpful nurse who has told him, that despite his doctor telling him that it would be a waste of time him chasing up an appointment for him, to go back and tell him he must do it. He was diagnosed in March last year and still hasn't had any treatment nearly 10 months later, just yet another scan. It's meant he couldn't finish his cardio rehab either which is said to be imperitive. He's also contacted a scheme he has paid £6 a month to for years since we were at work. His free physio he was having via the other health support we both pay into ran out at Christmas. He's found that this one pays £40 towards every fortnightly physio session and doesn't run out, so he is going to look into starting physio again using them.

I took our cards down today as well and saved some suitable ones to go with others I've saved from previous years to cut out to make some bunting and I think I may have enough now. Otherwise I've done admin tasks and tidying. We watched an episode of Keeping up Appearances at lunchtime and it was one we hadn't seen before where they went on a cruise on the QE2. Patricia Routledge was so brilliant as Hyacinth wasn't she!

I hope Vera is ok too and keeping warm.

Really Mandy? Two extra people and all their stuff plus all the bags with my presents in and other bags unloaded from the car every surface covered I never stand cards up except the two from daughter and son. It would have. Den a miracle to find a space to stand 21 cards. I have looked at and reds them twice and will go through them all again in a couple of days.

It's not very nice driving in those conditions Anng ,I hope their journey home tomorrow for them is a little better .
Oh I think I would have stood the cards out for a few days .

Really clouded over now and the sky looks as if its full of snow ,its one of those days where its hard to get warm , they said on the news at lunch time Marham was -12 last night that's not that far away from us .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Jan 2026 14:42

Did Em not come and help you at all Mel, that is strange if she said she would. Hope you have managed anyway.

Mandy no once it snowed I knew we wouldn't go out. Yes they were tired, even just as passenger it was tiring because it was not at all relaxing for any of us. They do share the driving SiL does two thirds and daughter a third. Hopefully it will not be as traumatic tomorrow but they leave earlier from here to get through Birmingham traffic.

I meant to tell you I had 21 cards waiting for me here. Not the same as they didn't even go on display.
