I remember when I was young I spilled a whole pot of PVA glue over the floor at home (polished wood floor) and didn't know what to do to clean it up (was about 8 at the time). Can't remember where mum was but knew I had to clean it up in a hurry.

So I grabbed mums vacuum cleaner and vacuumed it all up and what was left wiped up easily. Then put the vacuum cleaner back in the cupboard.

Don't remember what happened to the vacuum cleaner but it couldn't have been all bad cos I never got in trouble LOL

Most pva glue is water solvent and should wash off.

Incidentally, how old are the kids?

normally I have found that Pva will dissolve if soaked long enough....in fact it isnt waterproof at all.......as I found when I built a bird house using the stuff.

Think we used to soak the clothes in cold water which showed up the splodge, then rub it while wet and in the bowl/bucket. Perhaps you need to find out which days are 'craft' days so you are prepared?

Unfortunately, as you have found, if it is washed without pretreatment, the wretched stuff is permanent.

Good luck!

If the children are very young I would also complain to the teacher, they should surely be covered up when using something that can spoil clothes.

I used to use neat fabric conditioner.
Pour it on and rub it in just before washing the garment.

Put it in the freezer for 24 hours and then scrape off gently.

I just happen to have a bottle here, and it says the following.:-
'A water-based glue, washes off hair and hands with mild soapy water.'
It does not mention clothes. But why not put a post on one of the craft threads on General. Perhaps the ladies that use it for card making would be able to tell you
Good Luck
