Maybe because as the rain hit the ground, it jumped back up very straight Scozz? I can see that :-D

When I was a child we called that rain "dancing soldiers". No idea why.

I call heavy rain that hits the ground and bounces back up Dancing Dollies, everyone used to call it this where I grew up, I still do, but when I do, nobody knows what I'm talking about, anyone else use this phrase?

Have you any phrases only you use?
