It appears that the song has been banned by some radio stations after complaints that it is "coercive and manipulative" Personally, I think a much worse song is the stalkers anthem by Police, You Belong To Me. ...every move you make, every breath you take, I'll be watching you.

I really can't stand - and never have - 'In the Summertime' by Mungo Jerry.

'If her daddy's rich take her out for a meal,
if her daddy's poor, just do as you feel'.

I'd forgotten that one Maggie.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely they'll ban it.
It first came out in 1970. I was 14, and was just disgusted that this attitude should be sung about! :-| :-|

They have changed the lyrics of Fairytale in New York. Dropped the word faggot and replaced it with haggard. Honest. My wife pointed it out, and when it came on next I listened carefully.

Every shop I went into in Salisbury last Saturday was playing 'Fairytale of New York'.
Went to Romsey today - and there was a bloke in the street, with a trumpet playing - yes, you've guessed - 'Fairytale of New York' :-S

I love the tune to Fairy-tale of New York - never really listed that closely to the main bit - just loved the NYPD band was playing Gallway bay and the bells were ringing out for Christmas Day - gets me every time.

Trouble is i hear a song - like it and then spend weeks trying to find out what the song is & who by..
