Actually! those receiving Pension Credit can end up being much better off at the end of the day, because PC usually opens up other benefit doors! meaning those who do get PC are likely to receive more help & money, but those who might "only" be a few pounds over the threshold & miss out on getting PC their household income stays the same but those folk will have to pay for a TV licence, whereas those who do receive PC & other help will not have to pay for a licence!!

We have tried claiming Pension Credit in the past & our pensions take us over the amount to qualify by about £3-00, & so under the coming new licence rules we & folk like us will have to pay up!

..... or sign the petition run by The Petitions Team: UK Government and Parliament - which has a direct link to the email address of your local MP.

It also states that 100,000 signatures are needed before a petition will be raised in parliament.

I've just signed a petition to try and save free TV for older people.
If people are interested in signing it, here is the link below, from the age uk organisation.

Rather than stopping the free licences why not rein in the spending!

Dermot Report 10 Jun 2019 19:16

A report, published yesterday, found 1.3 million homes, or 4.7 per cent of the UK, are now going without traditional television compared with just 900,000 in 2010.

I've put my comments on the earlier thread, 'And in the end' .

Didn't realise there were two threads running with a common theme.

It probably is (worth the money) particularly for the housebound or single person. Even if the programmes aren’t to your liking, the flickering screen & sounds can provide the illusion of companionship.
