music to break your heart, "a black and white night " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9JArvEJ64M

"It's Over"

Your baby doesn't love you anymore
Golden days before they end
Whisper secrets to the wind
Your baby won't be near you any more

Tender nights before they fly
Send falling stars that seem to cry
Your baby doesn't want you anymore
It's over

It breaks your heart in two, To know she's been untrue
But oh what will you do? Then she said to you
There's someone new We're through We're through
It's over It's over It's over

All the rainbows in the sky
Start to weep, then say goodbye
You won't be seeing rainbows any more
Setting suns before they fall, Echo to you that's all that's all
But you'll see lonely sunset after all

It's over It's over It's over It's over"

Rose, you are so right. This song has many memories for me and I love all his songs, I could listen to him all night.

I also loved the Travelling Wilburys.

Oh yes, The Travelling Wilburys were great! One of my favourite songs of all time is their 'Handle With Care'.

Very interesting documentary on him last night (didn't see it all as I didn't know it was on) followed by the concert.

Answered a question that I had wondered about over years, since the 70s, as to what ever happened to the young girl Michelle Booth who was thrown from a moving train. The answer is that Roy Orbison made a tape for her when she was in a coma, and then visited her at home, she was in the documentary speaking about it :-) Somehow I had missed hearing about it before now.

We took my late ex-boyfriend in to the crematorium to 'You're the Only One" and out on "It's Over".

You know how you never quite know how to compose yourself after a funeral? well. as soon as the first couple of bars of "It's Over" struck up, we all knew.

As well as being a regular nice guy Roy O. was essentially a musician's musician, they knew the real thing when met. It has taken a long time for a much wider audience to appreciate he was far more than a successful pop singer.

I love the growl about 1:04 in to "Pretty Woman".

The best tribute is the video of "End of the Line"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVjToYOjbM

in which Roy's place is taken by his guitar on a slowly rocking chair.
It always breaks me up.

I went to see the RO Hologram backed by the RPO at Hammersmith Apollo in April,

it caused no atmosphere at all and many hard fans of his found it amusing.!

a few forgotten ones or not heard of,

Pretty One,
Yo Te Amo Maria.
Indian Wedding.
Sleepy Hollow.

My youngest - 5 years old when Roy died, absolutely loved/loves his music!
Not sure when she first heard it, bur once heard, she was hooked.
Even as a child, if couldn't think of anything to buy her for Christmas/her birthday, a Roy Orbison CD was sufficient. :-D

I am currently watching a Beach Boys programme, such memories with their music.

The old songs are the best, altho I do like some current singers and bands
