Katherine Ryan, comedian.

I have just watched Kate Winslet's WDYTYA and I enjoyed it. She was not overly luvvy in my opinion.

I didn't think she overacted, perhaps just enough reaction to hold viewers' interest. I liked the fact that she held her composure when she was moved to (almost) tears; there was no spectacular outburst that warranted a box of tissues.

She was definitely not enamoured with corporal punishment though, either received or dished out by her ancestors - nor would I be!

Who's next?

Better than the previous 2 - I am not sure how much was real and how much acting.

For goodness sake if part of your job was punishing people - then you would not have a choice.- well you could refuse but you would be court marshalled probably.

Where is all the common sense - no-one seems to live in the real world or an I just too old for all this. Seriously i am not that much older than Kate and I learnt all this sort of thing at school.

I know times have changed & we are very much a nanny society now- but for goodness sake it happened then - you cant think of it in like that.

I wanted to find out more about the Swedish family and a bit more of the family before they worked at the stables.

Hopefully next week will be more interesting for me and cover more family lines.

Interesting in parts how many Wows did she say though ;-)

What did she expect everything to be sunshine and happy
ever after?

Real life surely does not affect her in her world.
Such a drama queen.

OMG what a luvvie she was

Very irritating.i mean why would you pretend to cry over what happened to an ancestor.it was what it was and can’t be changed
Yes you can think how sad or how awful but then move on .

She was soo acting a part :-(

I feel the same, Rose :-(

I am finding her irritating ( almost as irritating as I found her in 'Titanic' and that's saying something ;-) ). Jumping in with exclamations and assumptions, and over dramatised 'shock horror'.

Kate Winslet.

Just watched on IPlayer and enjoyed it. I think they have a carefully constructed and practised double act there, no mean feat when they are at political odds lol.

Interesting history of which I knew very little. So that was a plus. :-)

I am with Joan - never heard of either & not a big loss if I never see them again, what a strange pairing,.

I did like his beautiful Blue eyes - stunning.

I loved the joke when he got the place name wrong in one of the documents.

It said something like the person had gone to Bedwelty (in Monmouth) he thought it said Bedwetty & made a crack about it being being the shock that caused the action. Now that did make me laugh .

Well I am with Von, really enjoyed it, but have been a fan of Jacks for a while, I thought a bit of humour enhanced the story
:-D :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 6 Aug 2019 12:47

My mistake Von, I thought someone had written 'orphan'.

Yes, I spotted Jack's comments about being sent away to school, Von.

He must have hated that school and/or being sent away.

Let's hope he learned enough not to repeat himself - as I did previously. ;-) :-D

Von

Von Report 6 Aug 2019 12:39

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it ;-)

I didn't think the child was in an orphanage. The Commercial Travellers school was a school for the children of Commercial Travellers orphans or not.

"Mr John Robert Cuffley, an able and energetic traveller, was the founder of the Commercial Travellers' Schools. He inspired many of his colleagues with his vision of a school which would house, feed, clothe and educate the necessitous children of brethren "on the road" who met untimely death or became unable to earn their livelihood."
I think Jack takes every opportunity to have a go at his father's Tory ideals. He had a particular go at his parents for sending him away to boarding school!! ;-)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 6 Aug 2019 12:07

I agree, Emma.

Whitehall senior almost cracked a smile - not so much as a stooge for junior but rather dull, I thought.

I thought Jack piled on the 'shock' a tad too much and I'm not sure whether it was to rile his obviously-staunch Tory dad or to appear 'ordinary'

Quite a fluke that the family came into wealth though; and shows someone in the family cared enough to save a child from the orphanage. A nice family trait to have.

I thought Jack piled on the 'shock' a tad too much. Not sure whether it was to rile his dad or to appear to be 'ordinary'. I've never seen him perform so I have no idea what his/their act's about.

'Emma' Report 6 Aug 2019 11:53

The worst so far imo, thought they were
auditioning for a " comedy act "
