They get very well paid, but so do skilled tradesmen.
A Doctor often has a thankless task. Seeing patients almosvery 10 minotes
diagnosing anything from malingering to life threatening diseases and hopefully
curing the patient. They never seem to be ill, must have an immunity ?

It could be homeopathy, David.

They are exposed to a myriad of various diseases, and thereby build up an immunity over time :-D :-D

Prior to to taking the Hippocrates Oath they spend several years studying medicine

from books in classrooms, before taking an exam.They study anatomy, they

all about the various ailments a human can have from cradle to grave, but they

only get to diagnose and cure the basics,There are so many differant types.

I'd to be a long term patient in an orthpeadic ward of a teaching hospital to

catch something I can not pronounce.

A friend of my mothers would call in at our house on her way back from the doctors and often report that "they haven't got a name for what I've got".
Possibly not a polite one I assume.

The last time I saw my GP was in Tesco he was 87 I had a brief chat with him.

Some months later I was in Tesco saw my GP's partner. He told me my GP had

had a couple of strokes and died. Some months later I was in Tesco yet again.

Saw my former GP's daughter at the Delicatessan counter, chatted briefy.

She had succeeded her Father as senior partner. Never seen her since.

Funny who you meet in Tesco.

Doctors, good Doctors. do much of their diagnosing by obsevation, before a

patient speaks. They observe the pallour of the patient, they observe his / her

gait. They listen to the patien's breathing. They touch, pallpate injured joints.

They smell the patient. They stop short of tasting him her. These initial

obsevations tell the Doctor much even before the patiemt reports a symptom.

Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes was a Doctor. He used

these diagnostic traits in the way Holmes solved puzzles.

Until only three generations ago Doctors learned anatomy fron fresh corpses

some stolen from new graves.

My OH did some of his training with Cadavers in the late 70's . He shared a body with other students .Not his favourite part of training :-S

I can imagine some of such traing the indiviual woul "blot out"

and leave it to the Surgeons.

Heads of cadavers are used in the tuition of cosmetic surgery.
