I don't think they will, Dermot. Luckily, it is a bit late in the year for blowflies and I have not seen any in the bathroom.

Anyway, they can do what they like under the bath, I am not going to look in there.

Watch out for the ravenous maggots who will eagerly devour the smelly remains.

it doesn't smell as bad today so I hope it is drying out quickly.

Not ideal, I know, but, as nobody ever goes looking in there, I think it can stay where it is.

Well Sharron, there's your answer, the rat got in through the open doorway lol

Seriously, you and I are so similar, I packed spare loft insulation around the base of my plastic bath when it was fitted in my previous house.

Hope you can get the body out soon

Oooo-errrr!

Not that easy, Maggie. I have been procrastinating about finishing the sanding and varnishing of the bathroom floor since I lost the plot. The door has been off since before that.

When the contractor comes around, could you jam the bathroom door, and pretend someone very ill is occupying it!

An episode of Fawlty Towers dwelt particularly on an errant rat. :-0

Not really sure how it got in there and I really don't want to take the panels off with all that fibre-glass crammed in there.

If I could have found a way to get it out I would have done it because I really would rather not have it festering quietly away in there.

Have you not got a stick you can poke in where the rat got in, and try to pull it towards you? I mean, it got in somehow! :-D

Or even manipulate (with sticks) a plastic bag in the hole that you can poke the rat into.

So the cat loves his daddy, so much so that he brought him in a fresh rat on the hoof which was hanging about indoors until I saw it and put down the rat bait.

The bloody thing has gone and died under the bath and it stinks. It would be good to get it out and get rid of the stink of rotting rat flesh but, due to my strange habits, the space around my bath is packed with fibre glass to keep the bath water warm for as long as possible.

I don't want to go poking about in there so I have the windows open in the hope that the carcass will mummify and the smell will go away. Unfortunately, when the electrical contractor checked my wiring, he didn't sign it off so he needs to come again and the housing association are nagging. He didn't sign off one of the neighbours either.
