the whole point of a codename for a person, project, battleplan or whatever is to shield it / him / her from unauthorised viewing, overhearing etc . As such information tends to leak over time to enemies , the press, the competition such codenames can never be permanent.

That the DM is near the bottom of the feeding chain ( think: "pond life" ) and an old codename has been disclosed without fuss suggests that the protection officers have moved on.

The report did say that the code names were changed frequently ............. to make sure that they were a secret known only to the few.

Bet your bottom dollar, all of them have now been changed ............ and were within a few minutes of security becoming aware.

Actually, they were probably changed last week
