Inspired by J M Turner and others the Bank of England is getting in on the act at £ 20 a pop for genuine plastic. Who would not want a couple of these in their wallet or purse?

Security features on the next £20 note, featuring artist JMW Turner, will include two see-through windows on the note and a metallic hologram.

In the first half this year, 88% of detected banknote forgeries were £20 notes,

note "DETECTED"......not ALL banknotes....

I wouldn't! The new plastic notes are slippery and far too easy to drop - particularly if your fingers are not as agile as they used to be. :-(

There won't be a choice - plastic cash or none at all.
Of course you could just scan your debit card and go cashless.

Next: the £ 50 goes plastic greatly annoying London estate agents and property solicitors, cocaine traders and the Mayfair Mafia.

In Oz we've had plastic notes for years for some denominations, and now the plastic twenty dollar note is being rolled out.
