When I hear of a disaster like this, I'm glad my loo is downstairs :-S

Last night, when I washed up, the worktop was a bit wet. I thought it must have come off the bottom of a pan and wiped it up with the tea-cloth.

Thought no more of it until we got up this morning and there was water dripping through the kitchen ceiling. OH put a bucket under it and I turned off the rising main. We had our breakfast and rang the housing association who wanted to know the ins and outs of the proverbial before sending out the emergency plumber.

Along he came and went off upstairs to the bathroom where I thought it was the pipe to the basin leaking. But that it was!

He looked at all sorts of areas and could not decide what it was so he took up a floorboard and I was pleased I had not finished sanding and varnishing them.

There it was, the pool of sewage leaking from the crack in the pan!

The bucket is still collecting the drips now the water supply has been disconnected to the pan and the cereal packets are binned. Now the worktop is washed down with bleach and the tea towels are being boiled.

Please let this be the last disaster for a while!
