BarbinSGlos - '1,000 years of annoying the French' by Stephen Clarke, a Sunday Times best-seller (c.2010) might give us all a clue. :-)

They are moving faster here than UK, cafes shut, restaurants only for takeaways, very few people allowed onto the island, 750 euro for students to stay off the island over Easter, small business and certain shops to close. etc

I was listening to a French radio station earlier today.

Allowing for my decreasing grasp of my schoolboy French language, I heard enough to realise that the presenter was laughing about us & our current toilet ablution uncertainty.

The Duke of Wellington said once: "We have been, we are, and I trust we always will be, detested by the French".

Brave fellow! :-S
