Just a thought but not one I have ever wanted to think about.

I have a digester cone, well up the garden. If I need to use newspaper to teach my bum to read, rather than burn it, could I put it in the cone?

You mean 'after'?
Just had a google and found one on 'tree hugger' (interesting) They say you can put small amounts of animal excrement in it.

Not sure about newspaper, though.
Could you use kitchen towel?
..or even leaves or moss?
