Everybody is having to think on their feet at the moment I think the companies are doing their best and will change what they offer given time

We have not had a pandemic like this since the Spanish Lady. There is no precedent to follow.

It's all very well the shops and building societies either giving the 1st hour or opening earlier for the 'oldies'. But how are they going to get there.

If they are lucky enough to live in a town or city then there will be public transport ( mostly not able to use their bus passes)- in the rush hour with the commuters.

Or younger friend or relatives will have to drive them and they will want to do their own shopping whilst there.

I was looking at how I would get to the Nationwide for their earlier hour. No bus, would have to leave home around an hour before opening because of traffic, or hobble to the station and travel with the morning commuters! Apart from the town supermarkets (I'd never be able to carry all my shopping from the station) there is no public transport to some of the supermarkets I use.

So, thanks for the idea, but quite impractical.

Just another thought.
I wonder if old 'friendships' will re-develop?
60 year old, 'Hey pal, could you get me some toilet roll?'
70 year old, 'Why if it isn't young Tommy! Do you want some fags, too?'

You know how kids hang around shops asking older people to get them booze?

Will there now be gangs of people who are, say, in their sixties, wanting the over seventies to buy them toilet rolls and paste when they have the special over seventies hour?
