Sharron Report 2 Apr 2020 20:14

We didn't do it last time an I don't think anybody else round here did but , this time,I started clapping an others joined in from different directions. We are not close together here.

Jacky Milburn was not impressed and went outside in disgust. He is still out there but hanging around the back door. He will be in in a minute.

Think all N.H.S. staff should be mentioned in Honours list next time, instead of polititians etc.

We'll be on the doorstep again too. It was quite nice to wave to the neighbours across the road and feel like we are all in it together..

For Hilary:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today... Aha-ah...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace... You...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world... You...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

...and a pay rise for NHS workers, and those in care!

Friend told me today that we are supposed to do it on Thursdays which is what Ann said, anyone else heard it, think it is a good idea. Hope we don't copy the Italians though & we have to sing. Listen to John Lennon's song, Imagine. If only his words could come true. Maybe someone could put the words on, sorry I don't know how to do it.

Wail online "Millions 'Clap for Carers' in spine-tingling nationwide tribute to NHS staff led by royal children, celebrities and the Prime Minister"

Led by...…??? Aren't these people bigged up too much already? :-|

Gill that was nice. yes some of us were clapping in our close. Some were outside but a couple of us were leaning out our upstairs windows. We could hear the clapping from all the roads around. Our village are doing it next Thursday same time but with a difference. "Torches light up the sky. to the sky and a cheer".

My husband would like to say a big thank you to everyone who clapped and cheered last night. He was on a day shift and finished at 8pm, as he left his place of work everyone in the houses opposite clapped and cheered. Such a lovely thoughtful thing to do. He is a carer in the UK

In Italy they're sing to each other from their balconies, some blowing their horns.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 27 Mar 2020 08:21

We did it! We flung open the windows, and to our surprise most of the other houses in the street did the same. I have to say it made me very emotional.

There was clapping, cheering, whistling, cars were honking their horns as they passed.

Well done everyone for honouring the NHS they deserve all our praise.

Thought it would only be me & a couple of neighbours but a few more came out, so pleased that the nation came out, not sure if we are supposed to do it every night, anyone else know. Bless all our N.H.S. plus everyone else working to keep us going. <3

We joined in as did quite a few others in our road. Just hope the government remember how grateful they are to NHS staff when the next round of pay rises comes around.

Daughter and I went outside.
Many of our street were out.
It was a lovely chance too to engage with my next door neighbour, who I had a chat with through her front window.

We are so fortunate to have an NHS. and non more so than during this present crisis.

Island

Island Report 26 Mar 2020 22:16

We did. Just been looking on FB and we were far from alone :-D :-D :-D
May those wonderful selfless NHS workers be blessed enough to come through this awful situation.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 26 Mar 2020 21:39

We went out, as did a few others. Next time, possibly tomorrow, am tempted to sound the car horn to bring out the rest - we are all in this together - no one knows who will need medical help. There are not any young children about to disturb.
