Probably too late to plant bare root raspberries now Linda, I think though, if you can find any, container plants would be OK although they may not bear fruit this year.

I hope so too Ann. We transferred some money for the materials yesterday and they will be delivered during the week. OH made two large raised beds yesterday, although they are still in the garage, but he will get them in the garden this week. One is for veg and the other is going to be a fruit cage. It is getting too late for the Raspberries etc for this year, but I will see what I can do. He is also making two compost bins, luckily lots of the planks from the old fence were still in good condition, so he is using them, so hasn’t had to buy any wood. Although the old posts had rotted at the bottom, once he sawed the rotten bits off, he had some useful posts for the corners of his new constructions
Did you have your Pimm’s Florence?

good morning all, another sunny day here and 9 degrees already, The trouble lately has been it gets too hot to do any gardening after about 11 o'clock which is round about the time I am ready to start. Luckily, since having the garden re-modelled, there is not so much to do out there. Linda, I hope this man follows through and your steps eventually get done.

Good evening, we have finally had a lovely sunny day. I spent quite a lot of time in the greenhouse today, potting on lots of plug plants and getting seed trays ready to prick out the herbs which I have growing. We finally had another builder come to give a quote this morning. He is going to do the job next Saturday. He was more expensive than some of the others, but he he gives the impression of being good, so we will have to see. His wife actually works as a teaching assistant in Esme’s school, she actually works in Esme’s class on a Wednesday. I hope your flame thrower has arrived Joan and that it isn’t too heavy

Morning all looking today Sunny day but oh sooo windy so our plans to go out for the day have changed.
Anyway yesterday was in town most of the day and went to get last few plants from the garden centre. So today we shall be planting up everything and getting the flower tubs outside plus the carrots have really grown now so need to go in today to the raised beds.
The foreecast for all next week is 18/19 degrees and no wind so we shall be planning days out to various beaches further down the coast we havent been to.
Might even get to have a jug of Pimms in the evening and watch the sun go down.
Joan you are getting along well in the garden but the swallow carry on lol give your son a nudge!
Linda, hope your garden is coming along and hope your OH is not overdoing it.
Ann, well done to your grandson, you must be very proud.
happy Saturday to all

Good afternoon everyone. It's another really beautiful day for us, I have been flitting about the garden pulling up weeds & weed killing the stubborn ones, getting there albeit very slowly ! No sign of my new toy yet, the courier has received it but no word on it being out for delivery.
I have come inside now as my back was starting to ache, I'm afraid I have left several little piles of weeds lying around as I'm too tired to sweep them up just now, they will just have to wait until tomorrow.
I was out with my daughter yesterday to the H centre, more blood tests, hope they are looking better than of late. Was in Morrisons today for my weekly shop,it was very quiet so we were very quickly through the checkout.
Our Swallows returnd a few days ago & one pair is trying to make a nest above the back porch door, such a pain when they do that especially as there is a huge old steading (now the garage) that they can use,& have easy access to. Our eldest son promised to block of the gap 2 years ago but he's not done it !
Linda, what a shame you are having such a problem re the garden steps, so annoying to have people say they will be round to see whats what & then let you down.
Joan.

Brr, it is really cold here, I wore my thin dress to get weighed at Slimming World this morning, but as soon as I got home I changed back into jeans and a fleece top. It is going to be very cold overnight as well. OH is still beavering on in the garden, he has removed the last of the lawn. I am just about banging my head on the wall trying to get people to quote for the steps.

Afternoon all Overcast day here but not too cold and a little breeze.
Been working hard planting out my veg into the big raised beds. Beetroot and onions are now all in. Just the carrots to do tomorrow.
Next job was going through old pots outside emptying them and repotting with all the new plants we bought The front garden is now beginning to take shape and looks colourful.
I bought 2 Senetti plants in a beautiful pink and purple. They certainly brightened up the front path.
Today and yesterday we saw a few bees and 2 died! So when we saw one on the path struggling today, we made a sugar solution on a saucer and paced the bee in it. Within a minute or 2, the bee recovered and flew off, how amazing is that!
Anyone else seem to have bees dying in their gardens?
Making sweet & sour chicken with rice and naan bread tonight. think we have earnt it after al the calories burnt off working outside.
Got my Tesco order today but cannot find any frozen chicken breasts on the site at all only thighs and wings! Anyone else struggling to get them?
Right off out to take some pics of my plants then it will be tea time.
Hope everyone else looking in is well and ok today

A good selection of plants there Linda, should make a nice display. You didn't get any Geum, Is that because you don't like it or he didn't have any?

It is supposedly 15 here Ann, but it doesn’t feel like that. I just caught the bus into town to get a few bits, then walked back and I was really cold by the time I got home. Well done to your grandson for completing his marathon. OH has been digging more of the lawn up today where the steps are going to be. It has made me realise that we are going to need lots more plants to fill the space. The latest builder still hasn’t sent a quote despite promising to yesterday :-|
The plants I got were Lavender, Verbena, Eryngium, Astible, Santolina, Oenothera, 'Scabius, Verbascum, Salvia, Centaura and a curry plant. No particular reason for any of them, I bought three of most of them. I wanted to buy some Crocosmia bulbs from a stall on the market today, but he hadn’t brought them with him today. He said that he would try and bring them next week, but I will probably forget to go.

15 degrees here today so pleasant for working in the garden. I have done an hour out there so far today but that is my limit for one session so came in for lunch. Have you noticed that while the plants are slow growing without any rain, the weeds don't seem to get any less they still grow.

That sounded a good buy Linda and a great way to be able to fill the new border for half the price. Tell us some of the plants that you bought.
The Turkish baths sound interesting, especially if you had discounted tickets. But sometimes, once you have seen these place, you don't need to revisit as they are not likely to change.
It is supposedly 10 degrees here this morning, some sun but a very cold light wind, almost icy so not very pleasant.
My Grandson ran the M Keynes marathon yesterday, he finished in 4.15.45 which I thought was quite good (He is in his late twenties).

We have had two very cold days here. But it is supposed to get warmer from tomorrow
Yesterday OH and I went to the Harrogate Turkish baths. The building is Victorian and quite impressive, it was renovated a few years ago to restore it to its original glory. I got some half price tickets, so it wasn’t too expensive, but I wouldn’t really go again.
Today we went back to a village near Thirsk to but some perennials for the garden. There is a man who grows very good quality ones and sells them from his house. They are only three pounds for a large pot, les than a third of what the same p,ants cost in the local garden centres. We bought thirty pots altogether, fairly pricy when you tot it up, but we want to fill the new beds as quickly as possible. We have laid them out where we want them and I have made a map, so I know what everything is. OH will plant them tomorrow

Hope everyone else looking in has good weather and able to get outside and be productive today :-D

Morning all. It's a bright morning so far, the sun is trying hard to come out but there are a lot of clouds that are trying just as hard not to let it shine, it's a bit windy but not as bad as yesterday.
Looks like we have had some rain but only a light shower by the looks of it as there are no puddles. I didn't manage to get outside at all yesterday, the wind did die down but the showers stopped me.
So annoying to have to stop, it has taken me some time to feel like doing any outdoor jobs & as soon as I do make a start I get stopped ! No sign of my new garden toy yet, I had hoped it would have been here for the weekend, I just hope I can manage to use it, if not I reckon our daughter will enjoy having a go, lol.
Joan.

good morning all 8 degrees here at 8am so a bit cooler, dull but still dry. If it is going to be cooler, I wish it would also rain, the garden is do dry and dusty.
Linda I hope Eve is getting on OK camping, at least they will be pleased if it doesn't rain. Good luck to them all. That was very bad of the school to have not booked their accommodation, with it being bank holiday that was always going to be a problem.
Hope this builder eventually made an appearance.
Joan I hope that you managed to get an hour or so in the garden, it is worrying to have to want to get out and sort it when the weather prevents you.

It isn’t too bad today a bit on the chilly side, but fourteen degrees and sunny between the cloudy bits. Tomorrow looks worse at only ten degrees. In a way, I am glad that it isn’t hot because Eve is doing her D of E bronze expedition this weekend. I hope that they don’t get lost. They had spent time planning the route, but the school hadn’t booked the campsite for their overnight stay and it was full. They only got a new campsite yesterday,so don’t know where they are going. Apparently they will have a teacher with them for the first hour to set them on the right route - what can possibly go wrong :-S They aren’t allowed to take phones, but the group is carrying a GPS tracker in case of an emergency, so they can be found
A builder is supposed to be coming at “lunchtime “ to give us a quote, but there is no sign of him yet. Another one I contacted yesterday couldn’t do it until July, so he is out.

Good morning. We have the same weather as you Florence, blowing quite hard & COLD, looks like my garden jobs have been cancelled for today unless the wind abates & I can get out this afternoon.
LOL, LInda re the weed burner, it should be a vey useful item so long as it's not heavy, I don't think it said how much it weighed ! We used to have a petrol burner many years agao but only hubby used it, it worked really well & hubby got a lot of use out of it until it broke dowm, after that it was back to using liquid weed killer,
It has brightened up at the moment, but it's still blowing, it seems to be blowing harder at the back of the house & looking out it seems a wee bit calmer at the front so maybe I will manage to get out later on, I hope so.
Joan.
