It sounds like you will have to net your pond Ginnie.

My son’s dog is hopefully going to be OK, but she was very badly mauled. His ex has been very badly affected by it. It was lucky that she was in the town when it happened and not way out in the countryside. Apparently, she was screaming so loudly that a man came out to see what was happening. She can’t remember if he pulled the dog off, or the woman who owned it did before she ran away.

Florence is obviously enjoying herself :-)

Lovely to hear your news Florence.

Hope everyone is recovering from (or avoiding) the lurgy that seems to be going around .OH and I have both been struck with the cold and coughs.

Linda I hope your sons dog recovers well , what an awful thing to happen.

OH has lost some of the fish from the pond, today we saw a beautiful Heron on the wall that surrounds the pond so we are thinking that the Heron may have had them.
OH is not happy!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Mar 2025 21:40

I have just spoken to my son, they brought the dog home tonight, but he is staying over so he can help to lift the dog around. He said that it was a middle aged woman who had the dog on a lead but couldn’t control it , she was with a teenage boy who had another dog. Once they got their dog off Tilly, they just ran away :-|. Luckily, it was in the town, not out in the countryside and someone who had heard all the noise came out to see what was happening. They kindly took them to the vets in a car. The vet said they didn’t know if Tilly would survive, but thankfully she has, but she is in a bad state. They have reported it to the police, but as it was just dog on dog, they aren’t doing anything

My OH is a lot better tonight, we have had our flu and RSV, so it is probably just some random virus. My sore throat us getting better and I don’t feel dreadfully tired anymore, OH is a few days behind me, so he will probably be better after the weekend

Good that son’s E. Wife was not hurt and hope the dog recovers without infection. We are hearing of these attacks more and more, awful people who keep these dogs.
Sorry your OH is unwell Linda, is it flu? Or maybe CSV. Frustrating as he will be wanting to get on with the fence.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Mar 2025 13:56

It is so cold here. Poor OH has been ill for a few days, so the fence is on hold. I have had a sore throat and runny nose, but when he caught it, he has been much worse. He didn’t get up at all yesterday . He is up today, but not doing anything.

Our son has been staying since last Friday. On Saturday we went to view houses with him and he put an offer in on one which has been accepted. He has been using our study to work from. He was supposed to be staying until Saturday, but when I came back from Slimming World this morning, it was to find that he had suddenly packed all his stuff and set off for home. That was in response to a call, from his soon to be ex wife. Long story, but they are still friends. Apparently when she was walking their dog on a lead this morning, it was attacked and badly injured by a pit bull type. I don’t think that she was hurt, but the dog was in surgery. We haven’t heard anything since

Edit, just heard from my son
The vet says Tilly is ok, there wasn't damage to internal organs. There is still the risk of infection. His ex wasn’t hurt thankfully

Nice news Florence. You did keep that secret but I did realise that something else was taking your time (interest) as you were not on here quite as much. I am pleased that you are happy together. I did wonder how you had got to Tesco to get a full shop the other day.

Is your dog a new acquisition, Florence?
I don't remember you ever mentioning a dog before - but perhaps she's been solely your man's dog until now?!
I'm assuming, possibly wrongly, that "we" means you and your man, rather than you and your daughter.

Cloudy today so far. None of the lovely sunshine of recent days.
But dry and windless, so that's good.

I cut the grass earlier this week. It felt ridiculous, cutting it in March - so early. But it had never had a final cut last year because the weather was too wet, and consequently had been on the long side all winter.
I wanted to rectify that before this year's growth starts in earnest.

Off to the village hall for our community lunch later, and I'm on sandwich-making duty.

Morning all
Overcast day so far but dry.

Not sure what the day holds instore for us but some attention in the polytunnel is needed. i see my rhubarb plant is now growing on a daily basis and am so pleased.

Off out tom eve to the community bingo with my neighbour giving us all a lift so looking forward to that.

We bought our wee doggie a new bed and a cushion for the car yesterday. She is one pampered wee poochie but she is such a delight, a wee teddy bear <3

Joan, I'm so glad you are able to get some work done in your lovely garden and am sure you will have a wonderful display of flowers soon.

Have a good day everyone else looking in

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Mar 2025 17:03

Wow Florence, congratulations, you are a dark horse :-D

This afternoon was an exercise class, but not to guitar music. I got mixed up, the guitar man is next time. This afternoon was a dance exercise class. You could sit down all the time, or stand for some of them. I stood of course, but it was quite tiring. I had a very nice day yesterday with my friend, we walked about four miles, but I had forgotten how hilly Fountains Abbey was, so last night I was very tired. I could have done without the exercise this afternoon

Afternoon chit chatters

Blowy day and showery here and of course it was recycling bin day as per usual.

So you may wonder why i haven't been as active on here more recently and that's because..... i have a new man in my life <3

For the last month I have been out nearly everyday as he has a car which is something as you know I haven't been able to do very often.

We are both very happy and same age so have plenty of mutual interests including genealogy!

So thats my big news for you all. :-D

Hope everyone is well today and keeping warm

Hope you enjoy your afternoon Linda. It is 7 degrees here but there is a very cold wind so it feels colder than 7, sad after last week. And no encouragement to get out in the garden

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Mar 2025 13:05

Goodness,it is really cold here today, just five degrees. That is such a change after the lovely weekend.
I am volunteering at the Memory Cafe this afternoon, apparently it is exercise to guitar music , I doubt that it will be very strenuous

Hello to you all.
LInda, I had to smile when reading your latest comment re being busy these past few days, you are ALWAYS busy, lol. The swimming session sounded like fun.
I hope your son will soon be settling down in a house near you, it will be nice to have him close by.

As the sun was shining I ventured into the garden about 20minutes ago hoping to trim back some shrubs, but was dissappointed to find it rather chilly, managed to trim back 2 shrubs but had to get back inside as the breeze was really unpleasant.
Such a change in the temperature after being really warm earlier this week !

Looks like I will have to settle for some household jobs, instead of gardening, not sure which is the harder of the two but at least it's warm indoors, lol.

Joan.

I have had a busy few days. My son arrived on Friday night, he is staying for a week. We spent Saturday house viewing in Harrogate with him. He is going to put an offer in on one of the ones we viewed this morning.

Yesterday the whole family went out for Sunday lunch and then we spent the afternoon playing in the garden with the girls. It was a lovely sunny day, even Eve who as a teenager professes not to like playing out anymore actually had a very good time. The only problem was after such a large lunch bending over all of the time to pick all the balls up was rather uncomfortable.

Esme and her mum go “ night swimming” every Sunday between 6 and 7 pm. The local pool has a SEND session in the little pool. They put out lots of toys for them to play with. It is ideal for Esme because it is very warm and the deepest bit is only chest height, so she can walk around by herself. She has been pestering me to go for a while, so I did and it meant that her mum could go lane swimming in the large pool while I played with Esme.

Today I am going to Fountains Abbey to meet my old neighbour for a day out. It is a shame because it is cold nd foggy, although that does seem to be lifting. As long as we wrap up warm, we will be fine.

I hope everyone is OK and have enjoyed the sunny weekend
