Left-overs scones

I still have a huge amount of pinhead oatmeal to use up and some milk went off in the fridge so, following a recipe(mostly) I made some oatmeal scones.

Wouldn't you know I don't like them because I can taste the milk?! At least, I think I can!

:-( :-( :-(
Could you freeze them, until the next village 'do'?

Sharron

Sharron Report 25 Oct 2021 21:33

Who knows when that might be?

I can make OH eat them!

I think my Mum used to make scones with sour milk. Can you get some strong flavoured jam to have on them?

. Maybe I need to man up,be brave and, admitting defeat, throw away some left-overs. It might need anaesthesia but surely it must be possible.

That's true - AND you'd have got rid of some oats!

Sharron

Sharron Report 25 Oct 2021 22:17

And how long would I be fretting about that?

You could put them it for the birds/squirrels, then your conscience will be clear! :-D

Edit: If they don't eat them, they're just being fussy, and it's not your fault!

Twice as long as anyone else, it seems, Sharron. ;-) :-D

Put them in a food waste collection. That way all worrying disappears knowing that you

are contributing to saving the planet ;-) ;-)

We don't have that, Von. I do have a cone, well I had one. It might have healed up since I last visited it.

Could you make a Halloween decoration out of them, or 'donate' them to children on Halloween (before giving them to the local wildlfe)?

Sharron

Sharron Report 26 Oct 2021 13:30

Give the local children to the wildlife. Now that is one helluvan idea!

Write to your Local councillor Sharron. Every council should provide them ;-)

I was going to suggest trying to make something like a bread and butter pudding using scones instead, Sharron, as the addition of sultanas, egg etc may just mask the taste of the milk - but perhaps not as I wouldn't eat anything that may taste of 'off' milk.

Shame they weren’t rock cakes, then you could have built something. :-D

Not if my building is anything like my cooking.
