The dreaded letter has arrived and now I am to a tax payer for the first time in years.

OH thinks it will be about £1 a week - we shall see :-|

Yes, I started paying tax last year. I have a full state pension and an occupational pension, plus a bit of casual wage now and then.
I gave OH the 'marriage allowance' portion, but we still pay less tax as a couple with that.

I also gave the marriage allowance to OH but my private pensions were too small. Now, as the personal allowance hasn’t been upped it has dragged me in ( I’m on the old state pension)

Added: the great mathematician seems to have got the sums wrong. I think I will just wait and see.

I meant I couldn’t get a refund ;-)

I remember my first job and getting a tax refund. Went into the new French Connection and bought a mini ( not that short) the first one in the office.

OH has redone his sums. Seems he didn’t believe how little I got in private pensions - so back to about £1 a week in tax.

Probably will cost more for the government to do the paperwork than it will get from me.
