Grounding Mats

Has anyone tried a Grounding Mat. If so can you honestly say that it worked. I have nerve damage in my lower legs which causes numbness in my feet. Sometimes my feet feel hot and at other times very cold. It is starting to effect my balance a little. I imagine this will slowly get worse. The specialist has told me that there is nothing they can do for me.

I am very tempted to try a grounding mat but before I buy one I would like to find out more about them from someone who has already tried them

I have never heard of it, so I had a quick google. There are pros and cons, some like them and others say they aren't worth it. I guess some of it is psychological - if you believe it will work, it probably will!! :-)

The most important thing I read (I think) is that you should consult your doctor before trying it, as they can adversely affect nerves in your legs.

I hope someone replies who has tried one. Good luck.

I also had to look them up. Didn’t really understand what they were supposed to do.

I'm another one who had to look them up. To me they look like a slightly milder version of the devise advertised by Ian Botham (Revitive) although that is more for your muscles rather than your nerves.

I would ask your doctor what he/she thinks.

I have no feeling in my leg as my nerves are dead. i bought one of these mats which you stand on and its supposed to send waves to stimulate circulation but it did nothing for me and was a waste of £150!!

I wear compression stockings and take water tabs to help reduce the swelling of water in both legs.

Yes Ive been told there is nothing that can repair the damage sadly

I looked it up Wendy and could not really see anything positive about them. Sadly I would save your money. Sorry you are having problems, it must be very frustrating for you I know how much you used to walk into town etc. Does it affect your driving?

Thanks for the comments ladies. If I could be convinced they worked I would be happy to pay up and hope that they did.

Florence thank you for your honest opinion, I'm sorry it was a waste of money for you and think it would probably be the same for me.

All the praise I read seems to come from the manufactures and reviews which seem to be to good to be true.

No Ann it doesn't affect my driving. I sometimes get a bit of a 'wobble' when walking and step to one side without any intention to do so. I think this is to do with my balance. I avoid walking on the outside of the pavement in case I step into the road.
