:-D

Our post office tends to sell the books. But then I rarely buy more than a dozen at a time.

You missed your chance of being really flamboyant Mr M.

You could have asked for 3 books of 4! That would have bamboozled 'em! :-D

Post offices have sheets of stamps from which they give you exactly the number you want - and of course they also sell books of stamps.

I suppose shops which aren't post offices will only have books.

I was going to say, maths not their best subject then. I wonder if that is because stamps before were sold in books of 12 and they thought you particularly wanted a book of 12? Just saying!!!!

Mr Magoo That doesn't surprise me from seeing what weird maths they do these days :-S

ZZzzz, my local shop/post office sells single stamps - and they do a bit of banter, Bargain :-D

£1.70, Zzzz.

I usually check when prices are going to go up then buy several (and 2nd) before they do go up. I usually use 2nd class for birthday cards.

I have no idea how much one first class stamp is but I reckon there are not many places that will sell you just one.

That’s a good idea, ZZzzz, as they are really dear now.

One shop near us has a book of stamps set aside so if someone wants to buy a couple of stamps they can and don't need to buy more than they need.

Went to the kiosk at my local supermarket yesterday for 12 1st class stamps.

Me - Please could I have 12 1st class stamps?

Assistant - We only have them in books of 4 or 8.

Me - That's fine. Please could I have 12 1st class stamps?

Assistant - We only have them in books of 4 or 8.

Me *looks at gentleman behind me who seems to share in my confusion* - So please could I have a book of 4 and a book of 8?

Assistant - Of course. I'm sorry we don't have 12 stamps.
