my husbands g grandfather was henry james lane b1880 d 1947. Married Ella Lousie Brandon 1908 in Chertsey.On marriage cert hes down as a postman. However he served in the Boer War and received a medal (think 4620) belfast area of S Africe defence of Lady smith as a private in the 19th hussars, then 1st world war as a pioneer in royal engineers medal 144003 then 2nd world war. He received a medal for faithful service. My questions are:1 I cant find him on a 1901 census 2. How do I find out what the faithful service medal was for 3. His second marriage was to a lady called Edith how do I find out when 4. His father was James listed on marriage in 1908 as deceased but he was a carman. Whats a car man Best regards Angie
