can't call pig pig because there are four meat products from pig,pork ,gammon ,ham and bacon.Sheep is sheep ,mutton is the male not female,and lamb is lamb Beef is ferom the male animal not the female but veal is from the female. Chicken is also capon ,all very confusing lol.Fred.

Sorry should have seaid Chicken ==Fowl,, But a Lamb is a Sheep,,,!! I dont kow why but was asked this by a 15year old to do with school project ,seems there is no answer,? We get all known fish from what the fish is called but not meat,?

All meat is fowl...lol...i'm a vegi.... I think it's probably something to do with name changing over the years.... Chickens - You wouldn't say i'm having Hen for tea tonight, or c*ck for that matter, lol... Rabbits - (something i know a lot about) Rabbit was originally the name for a baby rabbit, the adults were called coney's, then over the years they were all called rabbits with the baby's name changing to kittens..... Cows - I think it's the same sort of thing as the chickens, you wouldn't say i'm having a cow...or Bull.....so it's called beef... Ok, i give in...I've no idea, pmsl.....But the rabbit bit is right! LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Just a little query,, Meat-we eat... Why is Chicken/Rabbitt the only meats to be called after the animal its from......? Beef from Cows. Pork from Pigs, Lamb from Sheep. Why isn *Chicken* i called Fowl.??
