They do do them Woody, but it may be better to either get a ticket in advance for these buses or be prepared to barter with them. There are more than one company doing it and they charge whatever comes in to their heads at the time. It is well worth doing though. Tina x

Okay - we will have very limited time in London in August... We get off Eurostar about 11.30 and plan to leave luggage (if possible, or get a hotel near there).. Our intention is to just get an Open-top Bus type sightseeing tour..Do they still do them?

Whirley Report 11 Jul 2007 15:21

Yes they do Woody, assuming Gordon Brown hasn't robbed us of those too by the time you get here!! LOL... Yes they do the open top buses. August should be nice weather. Where in particular do you want to go/see in London. It will be heaving in August!!

Woody's Report 11 Jul 2007 15:26

Heaving! I know that! Of all the times for us to take a break and my OH wants blessed August! We were there many years ago and saw a lot then - but I suspect it's just like here in a way, no matter how often you go you see something new! The London Eye, maybe - is that anywhere near Waterloo? Thanks for the tip about booking in advance - never thought about that. I'll g**gle and see what I can get.

Hello. I just searched for sites for open top bus tour london and there are lots to look at! It seems you can book online, and one at £17-50 included a trip on the Thames.

Tina-Marie Report 11 Jul 2007 15:35

The Eye is about a five-minute walk from Waterloo station. Literally round the corner.

Whirley

Whirley Report 11 Jul 2007 15:37

Woody, you could book the Eye on-line and combine it with a meal afterwards?

Joy

Joy Report 11 Jul 2007 15:40

You'll be busy now exploring all those sites! Am okay, thanks, except not well today, off work. Hope to be back tomorrow. There are so many things to do, places to see in London. I went on HMS Belfast last week, and then to the Globe Theatre to see Love's Labour's Lost - I wrote about that in Lynda's theatre critics thread Liverpool was good. I have some nice photos.

Thanks Tina - that sounds good, that way we could use the left-luggage providing they're not a security risk at the time. Hal - went on a similar thing in Jersey years ago! In fact, my late father-in-law drove the real Maccoy in WW2!!! The purpose of our trip is actually to go to Passchendale as it's 90 years this year since the battle. We've been before but the weather turned bad so this time hope to get more done. MM, take care! I'm also having a day off - in fact had 3 days off so far but that comes to an end tomorrow. My get up and go went!

Oh my goodness! There's loads to choose from! Many thanks, Carol - I think we'll go for the combined Bus and Water tour either the conventional one or the Duckboat for now. However, I'm going to copy all the ideas as we might take a few days in London early next year. Thanks to easyjet there are lots of good deals available if we're flexible with our times. I've got a much better idea of the locations for everything now. Thanks to you all! Christine
