As most of you will know Laddo doesnt like school and struggles at lot as he finds it difficult to process things and all we can do till we get him accessed is plod on. When they did the practice SATs last year he got a big fat zero on spelling paper as he spells as he hears words and he did so badly on the other papers they were worried about how I would react, they neednt of worried cos have accepted he can only do what he can, its not his fault hes not thick he just cant get it in and out of his brain well enough. Got his official year 6 SAT results on Friday. both English lots and Maths he got Level 3 (yes its below the national average for his age) but in Science he got Level 4 (average for his age) . They are a lot better than I thought he would do and he is so chuffed with the Science one . To a lot of people they would be bad results but to us they are brilliant considering what he was at last year. After what is being a bad few weeks he has given me something to smile at.

brilliant Dawn. They are definitely not bad results. you have to judge the results according to his capability. he has obviously put in a lot of effort so very well done to him. I hope his teacher recognised that fact as well and praised him. Ann Glos

That's brilliant, you must be proud of him. As a teacher I used to take much more delight in this sort of success than in the children who had no difficulty and reached the required level 4 easily. What makes me mad is that the school will be judged on how many youngsters get level 4, and ignorant politicians will say things like x% of children leave primary school unable to read and spell when what they mean is they aren't average. Your Lad has proved he CAN read and spell, better than before, (and well enough to get by, even if his spelling is not standard!)
