Just got back from watching the riders from the Tour de France go past the bottom of our road.........Brilliant, both sides of dual carriageway packed and all the floats etc. were great.......What a site seeing all the riders for real, how they ride so close together....well???. Past in about 15 seconds but well worth the wait.......What a sight........Linda |

Hi Linda I saw them a few years ago when they were in Portsmouth. Wasn't going to bother (not really interested) but glad I did, the atmosphere was terrific, crowds lining the roads etc. Mary |

Hi saw them years ago when they came through Brighton .We were half way down a very long hill and they flew past in seconds! took your breath away. Worth sitting there for hours waiting though. .....and it hasn't rained again today...bonus!!! Angela x |

Hi Linda, My daughter lives just off the roundabout where it apparently finished. She said the atmosphere was really good. The weather has been really good too. Tina x |

Gwyn in Kent | Report | 9 Jul 2007 09:19 |
I went with my daughter and grandson to watch the race. We were 15km from the finish, in the open country on Stone Street and boy did they move.! They had not long since completed a hill climb but you'd never have guessed that, or known how many miles they'd covered already. Such stamina. There were quite a few other people watching near us because there was an access road nearby. Even the police control seemed to be enjoying it and kept us informed about where the riders were on their route to us..... Soon we could tell they were nearby because the helicopters started to hover overhead. After the riders had passed we found a way to Canterbury where there was a great atmosphere, cycling games for youngsters and a French market. We are not avid sports fans but we enjoyed witnessing the race through Kent. Gwyn |
