For those that may want to take a look at how the new version looks, there's a website located here which has a few screen shots of the new version. http://beta.familytreemaker*com/ Ron www.genealogyprinters*com |

Since posting the original message I've read that it's safe to download and install the new Beta TEST version, it should not interfere with your present FTM installation. Like I said it's completely different to the previous versions but I gotta say that I prefer 2006. At least it will give you the chance to test drive it. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com |

The Beta Testing of the latest version has been going on for some months now and FTM have taken the unusual step of allowing the public to download the latest Beta TEST version of the soon to be released 2008 version. Here is a part of the e-mail sent out to Beta Testers. Paste. Additionally this beta is now available for download by the public at http://beta.familytreemaker*com. Please feel free to share this link with friends and family, post it to mail lists or forums, etc. Everyone is welcome to download the beta. If you have any questions please email me at picea at tgn*com. Also, all features are now available for testing. Please report any bugs that you encounter in the program using the bug submission tool. We want to resolve all of the remaining bugs, so if you encounter a problem please notify us as soon as possible. End Paste. Unless you are skilled at handling different files and folders on your PC I would suggest that YOU DO NOT DOWNLOAD this latest Beta version. This is a test version of the new program only. It will enable you to use the new version but it will not be on a permanent basis and if you are not skilled in program and file use you could get into a right mess. It is a 164 megabyte download so don't even think about it unless you are on broadband. All I can say is that it is radicaly different from all previous versions of FTM. Please do not ask me for tips or advice about the new version, I am far to busy to answer any questions if you download and install this test version from FTM you do so entirely at your own risk. We have no connection with FTM other than we test the pre release version of the new programs as do hundreds of other selected people. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com |
