I did, but most people I know didnt. I married in Jan 2005, but I think it was because I lived in Coventry, my husband to be lived in Leamington, and we were marrying in Mansfield...also, I wanted to be married under my adoptive surname, not the one on my birth cert. (To please my mum, lol). If its a straightforward marriage, I don't think you have to show your cert. |

when we get married we have to show our birth certificate,as that always been the case ? my great gran got married in 1907 and on her marriage cert is down as kathleen newbald/newbold.yet on ancestory her birth is down as catherine,most of census she is catherine too was she legally married? |

No you dont have to show birth certs as far as I can rememeber,?and I am almost sure you wouldnt have back then if you were or said over aged 21,,,,,things wasnt checked then,,,,, |
