The BBC weather site is very good and gives a 5 day forecast for a given place and usually a 24 hour by hour forecast accessed from the 5 day forecast. ie You could use the sites search, key in Keswick and relevant data should appear. The address I have in my Favourites shows: http://www.bbc(.)co(.)uk/weather/5day.shtml? NB REMOVE () brackets from addy hope that's worked. If not, google: BBC Weather. Enjoy your visit tis a lovely place - nearly as good as Yorkshire! Hope this helps Ron |

Ello Sue. Welllllllll the Lake District does have some magnificent scenery in places. You ain't going to see the best tho. There are 3 or 4 other good passes better than Kirkston Pass, but think some not accessible by coach. I've done them all and OH refuses to travel on the Wrynose and Hardnott passes again as she found them very frightening - they were rather 'hairy' paticulary the day we used them some years ago as a minibus had gone over the edge and of course the traffic had backed up. We do travel thro the others tho. There's a good pub at top of the Kirkston but don't think there's enough parking space for coaches. We sat there one day admiring the view and cooking bacon butties and fried bread on a camping stove! Took 12 yr old (as was then) grandson a couple of years back and he loves the place. Towns are crowded tho. Hope you enjoy your visit. Ron Just a thought - the Buttertubs pass near Hawes is very scenic |

A few years ago we were driving over Hardknott and in those days we had an old Merc, which had a very low exhaust. we had two rather heavy weight passengers in the back and every so often we would hit the road with the exhaust pipe! quite frightening, in addition to the fear of a very narrow road with very sheer drops etc. don't go over either hardknott or Wrynose if we can avoid it these days. beautiful scenery, if you can force your eyes open to look at it!
