Just come on line to this site but checked my emails first. One said.....NatWest alert, your business account is about to expire please click on the lonk below.....The email had a NatWest logo and looks soooo goood. The only problem is...I have not got an account with NatWest, I never have and being a pensioner why would I want/have a business account??????? But it looked real, is it any wonder that people could/do get fooled by these scammers as a scam I think it is. Kathlyn

I think it is, Kathlyn. I've had all sorts of ones. They look official but they're not. (Have to admit, I had a moment of doubt when I got a fake one from what appeared to be my own bank but I contacted the real bank and they said it was a phishing e-mail.) I had a period a few months back where I got one or two each day but they seem to have tailed off now. As I recall, I've had ones claiming to be from Barclays, HSBC and I think Royal Bank of Scotland and even Bank of America.

I keep getting them from Royal Bank of Scotland. Not a customer of theirs either. Some people want to find better things to do with their time.

All the banks now make a point of saying that they never ask for details via e mails. But I bet there are still some people who get caught out. Ann Glos

I get loads of them. I had one supposedly from ebay (paypal) telling me to beware of people abroad trying to access my account and they were the ones trying to do it! I never reply to them and if I think they look dodgy I don't open them. Lx

I had one from Tiscali saying they had difficulty with my direct debit and as it was just a couple of days after my payment was due for a couple of min I was taken in luckily I phoned them to see if there was a problem, which of course there wasn't. But very believable. Norah

If a stranger knocked on your front door claiming to be from the bank and asking for your details or even a cheque so that it could be sorted out quickly would you do it? No answer needed to that question! If you ignore emails and such like, then if it is genuine do you not think the bank would get in touch with you via other means pdq?

I had one today telling me I was being awarded something or other because I was so good on Ebay. As I have never bought or sold anything on Ebay myself (family members do but not on my computer or in my name) I immediately deleted it. But it did look realistic. I'm also getting a lot of art scam e-mails at the moment. I sell work via the Internet so scammers do find my webpage and pretend to be genuine customers. However I can spot them now as they all seem to use exactly the same words and phrases. Sue

One other thing, I've noticed with these e-mails, they are written with the most appalling spelling mistakes and the grammar is terrible. I imagine most genuine banks at least run things through a spell checker first.
