Abutilons can grow into big shrubs in NZ. I dont know the 2 varieties you mention. My book says 'evergreen or semi-evergreen shrubs, and, rarely, annuals.....Frost hardy to frost tender, min 5 - 7 degC. Needs full sun or partial shade and fertile, well drained soil. Water containerised specimens freely when in full growth, less at other times.' There us further info on pruning etc. It is the Readers digest Gardeners Encyclopedia of Plants & Flowers, for Australia and NZ. Perhaps your library would have a book for English conditions. |

Thanks Huia for your advise, shall have to be careful were I put it then as our soil is full of Clay and not that good. Maybe a patio pot might be better then and if it's not that good with cold temperatures I can put it in the greenhouse over winter. |
